    She isn't a bad person but she was incredibley ruthless to Chase. Having someone marry you and tell you he loves you for, like, a million times and then says they don't know if they ever truly loved you... I would've felt incredibly heartbroken.

      Im a huge fan of Chase but come on guys Chase also loved more House than he loved Cameron. He knew Cameron would see completely wrong that some would kill Dibala and not feeling guilty or some regrets of doing so and Chase said it he didn’t regret Killing Dibala meaning he wanted House not Cameron.
      Chase didn’t love her as much he claimed maybe he did a little more for their relationship but at the end both loved the same men : House and that’s what broke them apart.

    This is what happens when you give your all to someone who isn't really all for you. Cameron showed him a lot of red flags up to and during the marriage e.g. didn't want to make the relationship more than sex, called off the vacation, wanted to keep her dead husband's sperm etc. She was never really 100% for him. But he was for her. Chase deserved better.

    The writers are just brilliant: having her say yes would've potentially got them back together, so their ending story arcs wouldn't have been as good; having her say no would've maked her look like a terrible person who only used him. By saying "i don't know" she reinforces what House told her all those years ago, she needs a project, someone to fix, and she never got that with Chase.

    • @victorpradha9946
      @victorpradha9946 3 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      Yes. This was the rich, complexity to the show. Cameron always suffered from the rescuer syndrome. Part of what made her choose to become a doctor. Cameron needs to feel like she's saving someone, or at the very least reducing their pain in the face of the inevitable. And yet, she was too hesitant to make the really tough choices until (Informed Consent) where Cameron took an active role in assisted suicide (technically probably 2nd degree homicide). But what Chase did was far more active, deliberate, and morally problematic. Still, from a needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few or the one perspective, what Chase did appeared almost necessary, especially after Dibala practically threatened Cameron and pretty much said he was going to stomp out the "cockroaches" which was his derisive for Sitibi people. Chase's turning point came when he spoke with one of Dibala's former youth recruits who admitted to the horiffic things that Dibala's faction made him and others like him do to the Sitibi women. Chase realized when Dibala demeaned and derogated Cameron that he was exactly what Dibala's would be assassin had described. After doing it, Chase was wracked with immense guilt. Not so much for having done what he did, as Chase came to the conclusion that his actions were necessary and warranted, but because he hid this huge secret and aspect of himself from Cameron. It was as if Chase hid who he truly was from Cameron. Upon his confession to Cameron, Cameron decided that she and Chase needed to break cleanly away from Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital and House. Chase realized later that he didn't want that. He knew who and what he was. Cameron did NOT like that Chase was no longer pliable to her influence. She no longer had a "project" in Chase to work on. Cameron's sense of worth is when she can save, rescue, fix someone else. In that way, she's very much like House, but she's House with emotional sensitivity, compassion, and patience.

    Chases character development is the best in the entire show. Its like watching a boy not just become a man, but an excellent man and leader. Little known fact, albiet chase was in most the episodes, he solved the most cases of houses underlings.

  • @Robert-hz9bj
    @Robert-hz9bj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +816

    Cameron was always a coward. She always pursued relationships that were doomed from the beginning, like her first husband or House. And when she was staring down the barrel of working through the issues of a more or less "normal" relationship, she ran from it and blamed House for "ruining Chase." Additionally, I've got to say the whole Dibala thing gave me a new respect for Chase. I don't know if what he did was truly right or wrong, but he made an incredibly difficult choice based on his personal convictions, living forever with the consequences of knowing he willingly took a man's life in the hope that it would save many others. I never really liked Chase before that, but it gave me a new respect for his character. Meanwhile, Cameron was perfectly content to hem and haw from the sidelines, condemning the man and agonizing over the knowledge they were saving him (even suggesting they let him die after someone tries to assassinate him) but turning away in horror at the prospect of actually taking the onus upon herself to live up to her so-called convictions. Her craven hypocrisy truly was loathsome...

      Back in the first episode, House tells her that she is damaged, somehow, in some way, or she would have used her looks to succeed in some field requiring much less effort.
      Her arc is the reverse of Amber's. I started out liking Cameron, then moving to dislike, although I wouldn't give completely up on her. I started out disliking Amber, but was really sad to see her go just when she seemed to be moving past her demons.

    I love how they left a lot of Cameron's family and past as ambiguous, aside from her first marriage. We never met her parents, and House probed with some basic childhood questions very early in the series (that we still don't know if she responded truthfully or not), but other than that.... all we know is that Cameron is pretty darn screwed up.
    I wasn't the biggest fan of Chase, but she definitely strung him along, knowing that she wasn't invested into their relationship, knowing that she didn't, or couldn't, feel anything real or deep, and it wasn't just because of her dead husband... there had to be something more.
    I'm glad that they didn't give these two a ride-me-off-into-the-sunset ending just to pander to the audience. It gave such a visceral feeling of relatable instability.

      @@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 Cameron was an amazing character, honestly the best written female character on House. It was *because* she was complicated, good, bad, hypocritical, and struggling to be the moral guiding light (which is a role women often get). Cameron got storylines that, at the time, (supporting) female characters just didn't get. She was messy, a bit selfish, not consistent *like all people are*. I stopped watching after season 3 when they relegated her story to the sidelines (and because it was such a big change to avoid the dreaded season 4 doom that all series f'd up then) bc they did her story and character dirty. They couldn't let her go completely so they just watered down her character.

    the strange thing is that when the series started I liked cameron and did not like chase. in season 2 I didn't like the foreman. But after she accused Wilson of handing House over to the cop, I started to see her as a badly loved one. She liked House and defended everything he did, if Foreman or Chase complained about being slapped by a dealer, she hated it. But as soon as she lost her "interest" in House, she started to say that he was a sociopath. Which may be true, but it was hypocritical, she accused everyone that she did not understand House, wilson, cody and then wanted to blame everything bad on it. She used Chase, and wanted to come out as the victim, despite Chase's mistake being horrible. She asked him to choose to stay away from House, change jobs, go to another city, and he didn't even admit that he loved him. She was my favorite character, but in the end even from Foreman I started to like it more. That he at least evolved, it just got worse. And it came out in such a ridiculous way. translated on google translator. sorry about the mistakes.

      Wilson handing House to the cops wasn't a bad decision, but in the end it didn't change anything so she was right.
      She loved the sociopath in House, she always knew it, that was the exact reason she was into him.
      How did she use Chase? She avoided starting relationships with him, but he insisted and she gave it a try. She loved him, and wanted to start a new life for his own sake - to let go the dibala situation. Meanwhile he tried to control her all the time out of jealousy.

      @rebeccas2813 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@Chocobear555 No, she didn't. That's what House told us and the perspective we're told to view her character from. House is great at reading people's intentions and who they are, but he was often wrong about Cameron. So when House told us in season 1 that Cameron wants to fix people, she doesn't love them, that's the angle we're going to look at her at for a while. What do I think? I think Cameron is damaged herself, and since she tells us very little about her past we know very little about her, and looks for other people who are damaged, and for people who challenge her. House did that, as did Chase. They challenged her and forced her to grow in different ways, while also understanding what it is like to not be whole.
      The problem with analyzing Cameron's character is that she is a character that is shown on a very "surface level", only through how other people perceive her. I.e House saying she craves fixing people, the general storyline that she is emotional, can't stand up for herself, and her general struggle with morality. Beyond what the people around her says about her, or perceives her, we're not privy to much about her character. Just look at her sparse wiki page where it basically just says that her parents are alive, she grew up in the midwest, has a brother, pointed out an error her professor missed on a test in college, that she interned at mayo, might've been arrested at one point, married a person she knew had cancer, fell for his friend, and became a widow at an early age. That's it.
      Saying with absolutes that she never actually loved them for them is just us as viewers believing House whole heartedly on his presumption of her. House is often wrong about people. While the series is about how astute he is and that he is often right, it's also about what he's wrong about, and how dangerous it is to fall for misanthropic ideas about other people. House is a cautionary tale, not a person to look up to or believe 100% of what comes out of his mouth.

    Great example of an toxic relationship that lasted too long. Cameron is pretty unkind to Chase over the course of it, but Chase is unhealthily obsessed/attached to her throughout. That whole "I'm gonna tell you I love you every week." thing was really uncool on his part, for example.

      I think that was 'I'm going to ask you out on a date every week' back during season 3. But yeah, he seemed a bit too attached at times.

    She was worried sick about him when he disappeared after the Dibala incident and filed a missing person's report. I think she did love him to the best of her abilities... it just was never going to be enough due to her traumas from her previous relationship.

    Seriously I don't believe this bullshit that Cameron wanting to fix House was the only reason she felt attraction for him. Yes that was partly true but only partly. House made up this argument to shut down his feelings more easily. Later on, House admitted that her need to fix everyone 'explains almost everything' but not all. At the end of the series, he imaginated her saying she loved him, which proved he knew this all the way long. We all tend to choose people who have similar experience or trauma, and there's nothing wrong with that.

      She has commitment issues. She was attracted to him because he was not available, so it was safe. That was my reading.
      That, and the plot demand of getting hot women to have the hots for House so he can look mor elike The Man, of course

      thiss!! people have such a close mind regarding complex characters (+ if they are a female character who dated a loved male character).. i personally love chase but cmon they were both fucked in the head, doesnt mean theyre horrible, they just need to work on themselves

    Remember Cameron thought she could “heal” both chase and house. As soon as she realized she couldn’t, it’s “aight imma head out” lmao the fuck outta here. Also she killed someone like 4-5 seasons before chase did and now she’s holier then though (she also wanted to kill the dictator but cuz chase did it “he bad me good”)

      Cameron never got over her first husbands death, she definitely had something other then “wanting to fix them” with those boys, she was pressured by chase asking “do you like me?” For every Tuesday each week, and thought that’s what could bring him back to her after he got fired
