I have been diagnosed with stage 4 chondrosarcoma (a rare bone cancer). It is a presumptive. I actually helped ignite burn pits and burned feces out of sheer boredom in Saudi Arabia. I also flew helicopters through the oil fire smoke. I also watched the engineers blow up the bunkers containing Sarin Nerve Agent. I am the only family member, dating back three generations to have multiple medical conditions to include two forms of cancer. My days are numbered. Hopefully, my family will be taken care of.
During WWI, the Alabama military station of Ft McClellan served as a training ground for American troops. As time went on, the installation was used to store dangerous chemicals, including Agent Orange. Many tons of Agent Orange and other highly volatile substances like uranium and nerve gas were stored at Ft McClellan before being used extensively in the Vietnam War to wipe out vegetation and foliage, exposing thousands of service members and civilians to the chemical and causing lasting damage. The hazardous materials spilled out into surrounding areas, putting everyone stationed there at risk. More than half a million soldiers have been exposed to hazardous chemicals while stationed at Ft McClellan, and some effects on their health over the long term have been documented. Monsanto chemical plant nearby, PCBs from the plant were released into the environment, and the surrounding community was exposed, from 1929 to 1971. .... My boyfriend of 30+ years is a Vietnam era veteran and worked as a radar man and a NIKE AJAX and HERCULES technician at missile bases in Germany and US for several years. He was all clean until about 5 years ago when the doctors detected stage 2 kidney cancer. Luckily, he didn't have to go through the painful ordeal of chemo and radiation once the tumor and kidney was removed...he remained in remission for about 5 yrs and later on, after a routine screenings, they found another small tumor in his lower abdominal area near the groin. It was caught reasonably early not to classify it as stage 1 or 2. His oncologist had him undergo IV therapy every 6 weeks with taking pills in between visits. Last April, he was free of taking chemo, but still has to take the pills. He's currently receiving 60% disability for other related issues. Some of his fellow soldiers in his unit were diagnosed various stages of cancer, but it's still uncertain if their cancers were service connected or not.
I’m trying to find out about Hep C . I believe that the multi dose inoculation I received in basic training at Fort Knox 1971 I contracted Hep C I finally got treated for Hep C by the VA hospital in Richmond Virginia. I have had two bouts of treated liver cancer, now being diagnosed with lymph node cancer.
Great information - Questions - (1) if you completed your prostate cancer ADT treatment and they will rate you on the residuals? If have voiding dysfunction residuals (change depends material 2x-3x daily- (40% ) and urinary frequency residuals ( 5x nightly peeing - 40%) - will they drop you from 100% to either 80% or 40%??
Was stationed at Udorn RTAFB 1974-1975. A nodule formed in my rt lung about 17 years ago, and recently (2021) doubled in size, biopsy confirmed adenocarcinoma. File my initial claim in August 2021, and had a (rt lower lobe) lobectomy October 2021. My initial claim admitted the disability, but denied service connection, even though I frequently worked on the perimeter (jet engine runup) trim pads & Last Chance pad. VSO in Hemet, CA filed an appeal (April 2022) on initial claim, but in August 2022, under the Pact Act, I was granted service connection & 100% (temporary) from Aug 2022 to current. The initial claim was sent for higher review, but online it indicates that review was closed, but indicates an appeal is in process. It seems likely the service connection will extend to my initial filing, but, it's been a year since the appeal was initiated, though online claims it was just filed days ago. So, 1st question: shouldn't the appeal fall under the same service connection as under the Pact Act? 2nd question: in the case of a lobectomy, with a new additional middle lobe nodule being watched for growth, can I still be downrated? What if cancer then returns? Does it go back to 100%? I did file for hypertension, under the pact act, since my BP soared after chemo, requiring meds. Since it's presumptive for RTAFB service, but appears as a secondary disease, possibly related to chemo, would that claim have been better off filed as a secondary claim, as opposed to a primary new presumptive claim (as it was)?
Having surgery on my pancreas due to presumed cancer potential. They will remove half or all of it depending on biopsy dun during surgery. What are my options?
What about lymphoma? With a Nexus letter from oncologist stating more likely than not came from 3 years of chemical exposure from printing presses and their solvents, ink, cleaners. What would potentially be a compensation rate?
Hi folks, I was just diagnosed by my local VAMC with CLL. My VA doctor recommended that I contact my county VSO, which I have done to get a new C&P and possibly a new disability rating. I am currently getting 30% disability from the VA. On your website and other videos, you say that CLL should be rated at 100% by the VA, but their rating schedules show CLL at 0% for stage 0, 40% unless active treatment, and 100% while under active treatment and for six months following the end of treatment. Do you have any cited results showing the 100% disability for all stages of CLL with no decrease? I'd like to pass that information on to my VSO.
I contracted 2 URI's in service w/a 103.3-104% fevers & rubella virus w/ sleep apnea ,physical assault for snoring , on a now closed Superfund Site/ Orlando NTC 1977 & Brac came in 1985 closed base & bulldozed base ,removed the 9 underground drinking wells & destroyed all the asbestos Naval Buildings we were housed in , I have since developed Lung Cancer , severe depression, sever anxiety ,diabetes type 2 ,neuropathy, radiothicpathy, PTSD,GERD , many many many service secondary disabilities ,now facing homelessness ,my life has been pure hell with multiple homelessness due to PTSD ,Depression ,anxieties ,substance abuse due to being denied by VA admin, spinal injuries , on & on deny deny deny until I die is the VA motto w/ multiple scandals hopfully they will give me back my dignity b4 i pass away , they created such Hell on Earth for ME , just isn't right ... i just ask for my ''dignity back ,before I pass away'' ..
Thanks for commenting! If a veteran is service-connected for an active cancer, VA should automatically assign a 100 percent disability rating. This rating will continue as long as the veteran’s cancer is active.
I was diagnosed with a low grade leval one condrosarcoma in 2006 it was removed in june 2007 and I was released from service in April 2008. I was stationed at willow grove PA where there is a case about contamination nothing has been done about it despite lawsuits and testing g etc and I keep getting denied for cancer what can I do.
@Steven Sorenson, we are sorry to hear you have been having a difficult time. For a free consultation to determine if we are able to help you please feel free to reach out to our office at (844)567-1185.
I have a prostate injury but can get the VA to increase my %0 to %20 gross hematuria and Dysria paifull urination what can I do ?? They treatment me with Cipro for over 15 year off and on which cause torn pectoral muscles and alcand giving me prostate medication for over 18 years since 1999 antibiotic when I was hit in the lower testical growing area.
Was diagnosed with testicular 8 months after I was discharged in 1992. Recently found out that I was exposed to toxic water, soil, and air. Exposed to PFOA and PFOA eight times above EPA standards. Getting a Nexus letter from my Urologist connecting my cancer to my service. What should I expect?
I'm curious how this went? Did you get it service connected? My husband got diagnosed in August 2021. A couple months ago I found out about PFAS exposure. Fort Lewis, WA has had exposure and he was there for 4 years. I don't know how to connect it. His VA Dr's told us last fall it wasn't likely due to toxic exposure. Feels like they're protecting the VA.
How do hereditary disorders such as Hemocromitois work in the VA It was discovered in service. as well is the wide, wide , did I say wide range of other things it causes.
One day while I was station at Fort Bragg N.C. I went to the bathroom to urinate and pure red blood was coming out...........I did go to the medics. But I don't recall what happen after that, I know I didn't go to the hospital. Today I am dealing with non hodgkin's lymphoma, stage 4.
I would like to know how the VA can claim disability compensation at 40%, and then take it out of my Military Retirement pay? It seems to me that I am the one paying for this disability claim, not the VA??? Really the VA is not giving any real compensation???
It seems like the VA didn't want to approve my claim with cancer from Gulf War. I would like to talk to CCK after I get the current pending claims approved.
During a video conference last fall, the VA admitted (to the astonishment of other agency personnel and veterans) that they were not following the congressional action and was still fighting against presumptive conditions. Second, they were not assigning disability codes to covered conditions (not all) and telling the veteran (me) that they have to fight every incident individually.

Radiation by Radars (Microwave and otherwise)? I was in Ft. Bliss (Air Defense Artillery School).
Neuroendocrine tumor diagnosed while on active duty, is this service connected? Or, not service connected?
