I’m here for the Boston Bruins. I love their goal horn so much.
A cool fact about the Kraken horn is that it’s from a real ferry that was decommissioned (the Hyak). They had to dampen the sound with acoustic materials because ferry horns have to be heard for miles.

Stars was an absolute great pick. I am a lifelong Blackhawks fan and have been to a ton of games, but my first Stars game when that horn sounded and the song came on it was amazing. The Stars organization has really gone above and beyond to promote and support hockey in the DFW area.

The Blackhawks were 1st team with a goal horn and one of the most iconic goal songs to follow yes I'm Blackhawks fan but it's still the great horn and song because it still ticks off any other team fan and players when it goes off. Chelsea Dagger forever.

As a Canucks fan, this goal horn haunts me. Objectively it is one of the best in the league
No it was not. The Hawks first horn was from Bill Wirtz yacht.
Dagger is iconic. We used it for my HS team and it still gets stuck in my head lol

The Hurricanes horn is one of those that is hard to translate to a recording. In person it sounds great and because it's fairly deep you can almost feel it, but in something like this it really does sound atrocious
I definitely agree. The horn sounds bad on video but it’s a lot higher on this list if you’re in person to actually hear and feel it.
I’m not even a fan of these teams but the Rangers’ and the Wild’s are elite

There's not much to get excited for as a CBJ fan, but I love our goal song, even the transition. Wish maybe it went into a song that was more rock and roll after saying "for those about to rock," but it's still a super fun one and is an underrated atmosphere in the NHL

As a Hawks fan, my top 3:
1.) CHI
2.) STL
3.) DAL
Lets be real here. The STL and DAL songs are absolutely 🔥🔥🔥. I like the Blues' slightly more just because it has a catchier motif.
But the Hawks song is the PERFECT goal song. For the fans, it is super catchy and fun to sing w/ so much energy. But for the opposition, it grinds their gears and gets under the opposing fan's/team's skins.
The fact that people got so sick of it is a good indicator as to why it was an AMAZING choice. Just ask the Canucks
The wild goal horn out of all my years watching the team, I’ve never heard the siren. Only the horn and shout (or in previous years, crowd chant)
Came here to see if anybody else commented this. The hubby and I looked at each other confused when the sirens came on.

the oilers goal horn is definitely annoying BUT being in rogers place when that goal horn goes off is absolutely INSANE. it’s so chaotic and fans get absolutely wild so it’s such a cool feelings

I love the Avs horn. It's loud and the blasts make it sound like a war horn. To battle!!
The blues have a live organist there playing, he doesn’t only play during goal horns and plays during intermissions

Late comment, but having Oilers at 30 and Bruins at 4th is craaazy when they're basically the same vibe.
Sharks fan here. San Jose's actual goal horn by itself is probably the best in the league. That song is tired, though. It's a fun song, but as a goal song it badly needs a refresh. Honestly, I'd love to hear the Wellerman, Drunken Sailor, or one of the other sea shanties that have been big lately. Definitely fits the nautical theme.
Maybe the Alestorm version of the Wellerman? The only drawback is that the Kraken plays that from time to time (but not as their goal song). But I hear ya, time for a change! I miss the energy of the Shark Tank in its prime...that barn was intimidating.

Unfortunately, I can't really see where you're coming from about San Jose's horn being the best. I can however agree that the song used is kinda mid, and that there could be a better one used. If I'm being honest, my top 5 probably goes: 1 Pittsburgh 2 Dallas 3 Boston 4 Carolina 5 Nashville.
The Red Wings horn now is a terrible recording of the horn that was used at Joe Louis Arena. Before the move to Little Caesars Arena most people would have the Wings’ horn in their top 10 or even top 5. It used to be so great

Blackhawks fan since I was a kid and grew up in the Chicago suburbs. I went to a bunch of games in Dallas when attending college down there, and the Stars became the second team that I root for. Great to see that both made it into your top 3! Both have awesome goal horns.
Unlike other horns, this one is an actual musical chord. That's why it works.
Idk if it’s just me but whenever I hear the blackhawks goal horn on TV it sounds insane with a deep bass sound but on these previews it sounds extremely different.

nothing against Elite Goal Horns, he does an amazing job, the video really does a disservice to 'Canes Goal Horn. It is so much louder than that. Fills the arena and then some when you are there! Should be minimum in the top 10 at 10. I'm not just saying that as a 'Canes fan! Also fun fact the 'Canes use the same Goal Horn the Whalers did!

I'm a Columbus Blue Jackets fan and I have to agree with you how about their goal horn. The cannon fire itself is unique and I explained the civil war history with the nickname. They should use the end of For Those About To Rock with the constant cannon fire and Angus Young's guitar riff. That would make it rock more

I think that the community was ranking these mostly based on just the Horn, the song a secondary
I ranked horns in the survey purely based on the horn, considering three factors; 1. Complexity, 2. Chord used (if any, because some are just one note) and, 3. Impact.
Some of the horns I ranked highly bombed on your ratings and some that I ranked really low were really high, which is super interesting. For example, I hate Nashville's horn. It's very similar to Edmonton's in that it's a really ugly, dissonant chord. I love Jersey's horn and that was a contentious one, and LA's one was alright in that it was kind of unique.
Top four are great, and I love the Number one choice, though! That horn is great and having Pantera included in the celebration with their own work is such a great touch!
Nashville uses a C♯7 chord. Perfectly normal chord. Same chord as Buffalo. Edmonton uses a dissonant mess. Absolutely no comparison.
@@sparkyshore3543 tone makes an impact, so maybe that was a factor in my comparison. I'm a drummer, so I suck at music theory. But using a derogatory term, like, "mess", in regard to any chord indicates a lack of appreciation for jazz 😝
@@bencubus1814 What jazz player plays an E minor triad + ♯3 chord? On horns? Or would you rather I called it an E dim double-♭ 5? Have you ever heard an E, G, and G♯ in the same octave on the same instrument at the same time and thought "wow, that would make a good jazz chord!"? I thought not. I stand by calling it a mess. And to make it even worse, the goal song that plays over it is in F minor.

The Hawks have the best horn. Not only that but nobody would probably even have a horn if it weren't for the Hawks. Owner Bill Wirtz put his horn from his yacht in Chicago Stadium when the Hawks were playing the Habs in the '73 finals.
Sharks should ask Rancid to make a goal song for them

The Dallas Stars chant is annoying as a fan who’s been there as an away fan & gave up 6 goals to those guys. Bruins are #1 but I’m biased & have only seen games in Dallas & Boston

I’ll point out that the Kraken remixed the goal song so it just repeats "I like it!" over and over again, and they spliced in the instrumental for the response, so there are no vocals over the "Let's go Kraken!"

Stars do have the best horn in the league. Still doesn’t hold a candle to my 49ers’ horn, but you know.
The capitals also use player chosen goal songs lol. For example, T.J Oshie uses Country Roads

alright, a couple things:
The Rangers have a boring goal horn, but the song's alright, I wonder who thinks the Oilers goal horn is good enough to have a community ranking of 11th, the Jets and Lightning have two of the best horns and songs in the league, the Sharks song gives me 3rd grade PE flashbacks, the Wild should bring back Crowd Chant, the Kraken have the best horn in the league, and I'm glad the Capitals got rid of the Sirens.
