I like the video I am currently doing my 04 rear and I noticed this is the second video I dont see you using shims , so question if you go with a new pinion and ring gear does it still need to be shimmed ?
@@alcapon-o3f yes, watch all of my videos. I shim the pinion at least 4 times before i got it correct. My situation may be a little different than yours. My inner pinion bearing failed, and removed enough material from the axle housing/ bearing journal that it required double the shim stack to make it correct.
@@caveman9298 I made a special tool. I saw some online for around $350, but wasnt sure if it was for my 9.25, so I ended up fabricating a tool that was heavy duty and worked. I think theres a video of me briefly going over the tooling process.
I dont think most shops have techs that are capable of doing this type of work. They would probably sell you a new axle, rather than rebuild it. If I had to put a total price on the rear end build. Parts and labor, $4k

How exactly did you pull the pinion through the bearing without knocking out the outer bearing & seal?

How much would something like this cost?

I’m having mine done as we speak. 2014, 9.25 rear- quoted $1200-2K.
