- The Netflix of AI has arrived-- you can now prompt your own TV show, powered by The Simulation by Fable Studio, who brought those AI Generated South Park Episodes to us last year.
Let's take a look at what their new platform Showrunner is all about, and how it might just change entertainment forever.

I run a vlog on tech media. I am a buyer. Would you be interested in being interviewed? PPC with YRVDynamics is my show.
It's definitely where "entertainment" will be heading in the not too distant future. We won't need to tell it what we want either, it'll know based on our social media and browser history from the past 20 years and will generate it all on the fly. It'll probably hook into our brain implants, detect our mood and force feed us exactly what it thinks we need to stay "engaged" for as long as possible and take in the embedded advertising. Mark my words, this is the plan.
I totally see that and agree. I do kind of wonder if at some point we'll see that algo get really impressive and can put together a show that both I AND my wife want to watch. Haha...now, that's the TRUE test of AGI!
@@TheoreticallyMedia honestly, that’s a pretty fantastic take I hadn’t considered 😅
Hollywood writing can be so bad I don’t mind having an alternative
This is terrible
Why would you need social media when you can get great feedback from your 10 or so AI personal assistance that act the way you like and do what you want.
Bro, we're getting way ahead of ourselves with "Netflix of Ai".. We skipped step 1... "Watchable AI Created Videos" .. ..Right now At best, its Abysmal.. But considering it used to be atrocious, it's a step in the right direction!
Yeah, baby steps-- but, I've been a big fan of what Fable/Simulation has been doing, and clearly they've got some big goals in mind here, so I'm willing to support and go along with some buzzy titles!
😂
Ikr?
Come again in a year.
Art for MOST creative people (especially those who have achieved changes with their creations) goes beyond just having a good idea and comes to the brainpower they give to their creations in the process of making them. With special effects or 3d animation there is still a a lot of human controll since those are tools just like adding colorchips on procreate to fully color a drawing. What ai does is prive the artist from their imagination by handing them something they asked for and did not put any effort in. I think people should just accept that creativity is much more than coming up with "cool" ideas but is rather a form of living that humans enjoy DOING.
ps. sorry if my english is bad is my second language :)
Dude, your English is great here!
And agreed: I still need to dig into the actual platform, but from what I understand you can actually add in your own shots as well. So, hypothetically, you could take a shot from Showrunner and bring it into 3d software to do more post work on it and reimport it.
I think they’ll need to figure out the balance of passive users verses the active creator community. Naturally, at first it’s going to be most of us on the creative side. And we’re going to want all the toys!
My friend your English is great and better than most english speaking people who post on youtube. And I wholeheartedly agree with what you've said. Too often I see comments from people who say that they are going to destroy hollywood and filmmakers because they will have access to technology where they can type in a garbled sentence prompt and Ai will create an award winning tv episode/series or movie. That's not how filmmaking and storytelling works.
This technology WILL/CAN be used to enhance an artists/filmmakers original vision, but it's not going to replace that... EVER!
I think the "Prompt" to Mod Show aspect is kinda cool. "Interactive"-ish TV.
This reminded me of the times when I would go to a VHS store and ask the vendor that I want a movie which is sci-fi, a bit thriller, somewhat horror but not very much, has big cinematic scenes, which includes some aliens and human conflict and has a happy ending. The vendor would think for a moment then go and bring for me a movie that fits the criteria I told him :-)
Yeah! Take my beer - I'll be busy the next few hours rewriting the final season of Game of Thrones!
Haha, while I don’t think Showrunner is quite there yet, I think it paves the path toward it.
And I’ll bet however long that takes, it’ll still happen before George finishes writing those books! (TBH, even if he puts them out and “corrects” the show ending, I doubt I’ll read them…)
I just submitted my application for Showrunner as it really reminds me of How is it Manifested, a Twitch channel that does a similar thing with live prompting in the evenings (8:30 PM to 10:00 PM CST) daily. They use a variation of the Ken Burns effect and you can use a command to prompt a show type (of which there are many) each with their own voices and artwork styles. Despite the 500 character limit in Twitch there is still an astounding amount of plot that can be shoved into an episode. (Full disclosure: I am a mod on the discord,) But if you're looking to play with making episodes right now it's something that you can do for free when prompting hours are open.
Oh, that’s a really interesting idea. I’ll for sure check that out.
Given that it’s the Ken Burns effect, I presume the visuals are stills?
I’ll check it out for sure! At least it’ll give me an excuse to hang out over on Twitch a little more!
@@TheoreticallyMedia Yeah, they're stills. I still hold out hope that one day it'll be more than stills but even so, with just stills I think it comes together very well with the music, the voices and the art. We're living in a world where we can have a computer tell us a story. Not something in the future but right now.
I'm waiting for the My Dinner with Andre version! Neat stuff Tim, thank you!
Two videos in under 24 hours, you do not play. Thank you this, I signed up.
Man, I can tell you, I slept HARD last night! Bit of a marathon there!
I signed up for the demo a while back, but have been slaving endlessly over my two projects, not to mention I'm working on a music video for a band that's been around since the 70's and I can't wait to finish it and see how folks receive it. Thanks for another great video my friend, much love to ya homie, keep em coming!
oh, I gotta hear about this Music Video!! I know I'm behind on DMs back to you! Been...swamped!
Also, I think they went into a bit of a stealth mode for a bit-- so, hopefully now that they've made this announcement, we'll see the doors open a bit!
@@TheoreticallyMedia no worries, I know you're a busy guy I tagged you on a few posts with some of the AI stuff I plan on creating videos for but you'll def see the music video I'm doing for this particular artist/group who you might have Heard of. how'd studio A coming along? HMU let's chat sometime brotha until then I'll keep watching your channel for the latest AI stuff to come out
Well this may be the beginning of the end for creatives. And the big streaming companies are gonna license the tech and poof, no need for actual creatives. Sad af. Love your channel TM just venting.
I hear you! Personally, I think they’ll co-exist. I think you’ll still have like, Stranger Things- but where I see this tech evolving is creating “side stories” that you’ll watch after (or maybe even during?) the episodes. Or, y’know, fanfic.
15 years from now? Well, that I can’t tell. But entertainment has been shifting for awhile now. Hollywood tends to blame AI for their woes, but honestly video games have taken more of a bite out of the audience than anything else. I can go to the movies and spend $30 (don’t get me started on prices) for 2 hours, or $50 for a game that can last 100 hours.
Creatives will still be a driving force, but the medium might be changing.
I'm not a big fan of this tbh, but I wonder if this is gonna be the future, if is possible to use creative/art software like video editors/compositors, game engines, 3d art, 2d art apps can be used as well as word processing apps to modify these ai generated shows? Also, app our own human made music or ai music from other ai generators?
This is exactly what I’ve mentioned to some friends how AI may be used in the future. Glad I’m not alone. Thanks for the illustrative video Tim.
And this is the worst version of it! It only gets better from here! Wild times!
@@TheoreticallyMedia VERY!
This looks like a novelty
Currently, I’d say yes. But the potential, combined with their other projects is fairly massive.
To me, someone had to take that first bold step- and from what it looks like, I’m happy these are the guys doing it.
Another mind-blowing review! "Sim Francisco"... what a catchy and clever title. Lots to digest and look forward to. Thanks Tim for sharing. Have a great weekend.
"My name is Tim" is the best! The unpromptble one!
Hahah. Thank you!! Needed that after 2 videos today!
Reality can be anything I want - Thanos 2018 from Avengers Infinity War
Nothing to do with this episode in particular but one important question that no one appears to be asking Sam Altman and all the other AI ceos is when will our AI become proactive rather than simply reactive. That will be the next big game changer
That’s the alignment issue. There’s no doubt it’s going to happen, so the best we can do is train up these systems to have our best interests in mind.
One of the more interesting theories on this is: since AI is basically trained on human work (ranging from the best of our art/literature/etc), it might naturally lean that way. To be, or not to be, and all that.
Basically, if AGI is the culmination of all human knowledge, will it gravitate toward aligning with us?
Big questions coming up for sure…
@@TheoreticallyMedia Sure but if you get the opportunity try to get an answer from Sam et al to get an idea of months or years. And keep up to great work
Two quality videos in a day. You're spoiling us rotten now! Thank you very much.
This is awesome news, Tim! Can't wait til we can get our hands on it. Personally, I'd like to use it for the original Star Trek -- that'll really appeal to the 60+ demographic. There was so little happening in each episode, it should be easy. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. And two vids today, you are on fire!
This technology is crazy. In the near future, I imagine people will have their own catalogs of shows. Great video 🍻
Slick studio setup, but kinda miss your old room with the guitars. 🙂
Saaaaaaaame. Hopefully another week? The crew is ALMOST done in Studio A. I can’t wait to have it back. And also to not hear hammers banging all day! Sigh.
this is the same as you watch a show after reading spoilers
They should ask Matt and Trey if they can use their IP for users to make their own South park episodes. I feel like they're cool guys who might be open to it. Especially when their is some type of monetization system and they can get a cut of the profit. Worse they can say is no
I already signed up, I hope I get picked. I really want to be able to write my own scripts and create my own shows. Possibly save them, download them, share them with friends and or the community to watch as well.
What I want to know is, are people actually going to be satisfied with their own personal fanfiction? Fanfiction that you and you alone will be watching? Part of the joy of watching your favorite shows and movies is being able to talk about it with other people who also enjoy those same shows and movies. But if each person has their own individual fanfiction, then it's not going to be as fun to watch because everyone is on their own little island.
Couple that with the fact that there will be people who'll put way more time and effort into their own stories than others. Who will they share it with? No one will care to watch it because they'll be too busy making their own shows, which ultimately eliminates the entire point of creating anything artistic (if you consider AI prompted shows artistic).
I'm also questioning how long these stories will remain interesting. If the AI learned how to write shows based off of common patterns and styles from thousands of real human- written scripts, then wouldn't it also start implementing the same bad and predictable writing habits as current tv shows and movies? Kind of like how AI generated artwork started out looking cool and unique, but then we started to see a pattern in art style and now AI art all looks the same. Sure, you could probably do a lot of heavy editing and prompting to make sure your show stays fresh, but then that would be way more work than it should be and would defeat the purpose of casual viewing.
Also, I don't think anyone has enough fanfic stories in their diaries and sketchbooks to last them even one season. Remember when Netflix first started streaming tv shows and how everyone binge watched long running tv shows within a week, then got upset that they had nothing else to watch? That's what I think could happen with this AI streaming service. You could have years' worth of stories and fanfics that you could prompt the AI with, and the AI will spit them out lickety-split, and before you know it, you've watched every story you could think of in a matter of days. After running out of ideas to feed the AI, you're just paying for a streaming service that you're not really using.
I could be wrong about all of this, but I just don't know if this will be what it's trying to be.
We can share our fan fictions with each other.
@@GRNKRBY But this won't be like current day fanfic forums with a niche community of a thousand + people. This AI will allow EVERYONE, as in millions of people to make fanfiction, which will be oversaturated. Meaning only a small percentage of people's shows will be seen. Sort of like the TH-cam algorithm burying a large percentage of TH-camrs.
This will never replace an actual industry of authentic storytelling because it would end up killing any original shows or concepts from being made for fans to even manifest around.
It will just be an endless regurgitation of memberberries fanfics.
@@Skitskl33 Good point.
@@nonyabusiness3619 The TH-cam comparison is a good one. With platforms like TH-cam & Tiktok anyone can upload their video to a potential mass audience but most who do post don't get much attention and most people don't even try in the first place. I think most people won't want to bother to create their own AI fan fiction. They'll be content with watching others. The AI stuff that's most interesting or has the most effort will rise to the top like it usually does now.
As for whether the AI content will get stale, I think that's a matter of artist creativity. The AI on it's own will probably never make anything compelling but humans can always prompt it to make content based on new real life events or new media ideas. You can see it more like an easier-CGI tool or a fast animating tool. As long humans have new ideas we can use the AI tools to represent those new ideas.
Dunno if this will be as compelling as AI Spotify(ish) which you can definitely do right now.
I talked to Edward about that as well. Like, Suno and Udio- both are amazing, and I love creating songs in them, but I don’t really find myself listening to creations that other people made.
In some ways, tech like this is the ultimate personalized entertainment. Granted, I say this now, but who knows, there might be a banger AI generated hit in Spotify by this summer.
Just applied to Showrunner!
Same! Can’t wait to deep dive into it!!
We're getting closer and closer to my ultimate goal: using AI to create my own shonen-style anime (think Naruto, Bleach, etc.). I made an interesting project combining some videos from Kaiber, Domo AI, and some stills from Midjourney. But it's still so far from where I want it to be. I think I'll sign up for this just to see how much closer it can get me to the end goal.
I am excited to try this out another awesome avenue to explore!
Very good video, Tim. Thanks. This seems very cool 😁
Sorry to say this but I really miss your old studio, it had so much atmosphere but I love the idea of making the background interactive using the greenscreen to keep people engaged. I would make it even bigger, maybe get a used 65inch HD for peanuts unless you are in a closet and the foreground is static as well?
Maybe you could place the giant monitor on an arm and get it out of the way while filming and have the laptop only on the left?
I'm only mentioning it because I really like your channel and it looks a mess right now.
Haha...I'm right with you! I can't WAIT to get our of here. It SHOULD be one more week. The ceiling is now done, insulated etc-- Air has been installed. So, all that's left is spackle and painting.
LONGEST. JOB. EVER.
But, I hear you-- Part of me wants to futz in Stupid Studio B, but I'm also like: Do I really want to invest in anything for another week?
That said-- I'm just waiting for my contractor to break his arm and push the whole thing out another 3 months. sigh
@@TheoreticallyMedia Ahh I had a feeling that was the reason, cause I can tell you have an eye for what looks good, but for a minute I thought you had fired your decorator 😆 Looking forward to seeing the new studio.
I would like to let Showrunner know that Drug Force is available for licensing. I cannot find any other way to message them.
This sounds super interesting! Can't wait to see how it develops
t...two in one day?! We are blessed!
and I AM tired! haha- gonna go watch some real netflix for a bit now!
Ah a fellow Trekkie? Awesome! 😊
Live long and Prosper, my friend!!
Thanks again Tim. I rely on your AI radar so much of the time.
I think show runners has found youtubekids gold. My 3-9 year old nieces and nephews watch this kind of content on their ipads/tablets 24/7.
super curious to play around more with this
Possiblity of copyright stuff ???
Probably low, since it’s all on their platform.
Slim to none obviously, these guys would get sued into oblivion if they let people generate shows based on stuff they don't have ownership of. They'd have to try to get the licensing rights from copyright owners to let people generate stuff from other studios.
@@wlb277 Thank you for your answer
@@kikijuju4809 You're welcome. I guess there might be a possibility they could get the rights to some things owned by others, but depending on what they are, it'll be really expensive for them to get licenses for a lot of stuff.
Amazing stuff they are doing. Thanks for keeping us informed.
I called this last year. Thought it would take longer.
and now just think where we'll be NEXT year!
Ai VR adult movies tailored on the fly to your best liking (monitoring vital signs)
Is it a criticism of Lost ? x) I'm currently re-watching it as it's the best serie I've ever seen and it's much more than "Kate talking to Sawyer", "Jack talking to Kate". I mean... I didn't think it was possible to give such a review for Lost.
You are goin in today! Great content … good updates
Haha, yeah I'm going to sleep WELL tonight! Man am I beat!
Watched some of the shows and yeah they were...not good. Not surprising the reason why compelling stories are compelling is because of the complex humans telling them, not machines.
It’s the worst it will ever be buddy. Kinda a motif at this point.
That's the thing. Someone had to take that first step. I'm actually glad it's Fable, as they're really focused on the Storytelling/Narrative aspects. This isn't a big tech company going for a cash grab. They're genuinely passionate about AI characters and intelligence.
@@vatekehcorlon867 I think it'll be able to create "junk food" style shows and movies. Formulaic popcorn films like the lower tier Marvel movies.
Yeah our project is similar but thankfully it’s different enough. Phew. Knew this era was gonna come and it will become more prominent in a year or two. Hope I can get into the content market before it becomes crowded.
big fan come from semrush academy
Oh hey!! That’s awesome! I loved making that video! Hope to do more with them in the future!
Do you know when it‘s comming out? Like for us?
It's not really here if you can't even use it yet
0:26 "You're probably wondering what does this show actually look like and We're going to dive into that"
Yes we are. Which is why I was hoping for some footage. Just 10 seconds of how the dialogue sounds. ANYTHING AT ALL!! Very unhelpful video in that regard. Might as well have published the video script as a text article.
Black Mirror is greeting 👋
Haha Whisper.. Now I already know it's written by gpt
Oh couldn't wait till u do this video. Already signed up lol but I knew u would do it depth deep dive whophoo and the Netflix has similar endings etc but this takes it next level with satire lol finally. It's like sim city meets ai and Netflix cartoons lol love it storytelling love it got stoked can't wait till u get full access lol
Netflix has just made TH-cam go….awww mannnn (The Blitz) if you know you know
"Make Colony USA season 4 and a few more till it concludes"
As one of the writers/creators, i love being part of the project. I think everyone will be blown away with the level of creativity and talent pool behind this team! Im proud to be part of it!
That’s awesome! I’ve got the onboarding call tomorrow! Really looking forward to seeing what we can pull off!
Haters will always hate. I think a platform like Showrunner levels the playing field. Imagine the amount of international talent that can now be recognized! There are plenty of shows that suck but due to limited options, we are forced into choosing the least worst show. The team of writers and creators i work with are amazingly and you will be shocked to hear some of their names. Lets try chearing for Edward for being a revolutionary instead of throwing mud! He works endlessly every day!
Speaking of long term repercussions for their actions, can you puhleeeease grill these developers or their technology on how this will impact the industries and livelihoods this is inspired by? I would love to know if they have plans to bring us in, help us shape stories, create art to inspire the ai etc etc. Otherwise this feels SO dangerous and disingenuous and self serving. Do we really want a future where story tellers and creatives have been excluded entirely from the process? As a voice and thought leader in this space I would love to get your take thank you!!! 🙏🏼 ❤
My question is....when can we prompt our own show? I have been creating a "Filipino Steampunk Metropolis" with my dear friend MavenAI for awhile...complete with 200 + characters, 6 burroughs and it's own lore...and *AHEM* music style...for every AI reason you can think of. I CANNOT WAIT.
Unsure right now, but it is in the plans. We’re basically day 1 today, but it IS coming!
@@TheoreticallyMedia funny enough, I was hanging with my wife the other day and started discussing the concept of Sora + AVP = text to simulation…and decided on a new title, which seems to fit this too: Simulation Director
Heh
Thanks again for the info and your sense of humor, you make me chuckle every time
Who'll you show it to? There won't be an audience because everyone else will be too busy making their own shows.
Awesome!
Right? And this is just the first step!
Damn, I actually predicted this over a year ago and here we are 😱
I mean, it's not too far from the Bandersnatch and Bear Grillz 'choose your own adventure' ideas so it was always bound to happen...
Interested to watch this to see how they did it! Thanks as always Tim!
This one was SUPER quick and fairly under the gun! Going to reach out to them for a much bigger deep dive soon! This stuff is SUPER fascinating to me!
I predicted this since 2020 basically the week after I found out about Ai
Wow. Me to. Great minds.
If this was the expected output quality you can predict more or less anything and someone will try to create it
Everytime I say something will be coming in the next ten years It shows up within the same week. Wtf this is actually moving scary fast. First gpt4o now this
thats interesting
Some things we should not do or create...smh
Boring. AI shit is so dull and completely souless, not interested.
When will it come?
The appeal of this will be very limited as a passive tool. People will start making their own unique animes and communities will spring up around them. Instead of fan fiction we'll have fan animes, a truly shared world. Most of the streaming services will die off, as kids will be spending their time making shows for one another.
I know the aim is to go passive, but I agree, I think the initial push of it all will be within the creative community, who will be pushing the platform and really stress testing it. But, that might give it the bridge time to actually become a worthy passive tool.
I think the streamers will be fine though. If anything, I see them incorporating this technology
If this is what we can do not having a platform catered towards non-technical users... I can not wait to get something that is tailored to those of us with a wider knowledge of film.
I have a short film I may have loosely mentioned that might be suitable for this platform. Maybe. But I would have to get creative with a different project for long term use. Unless he expands the technical control for those interested and aims to serve both audiences to support creators with better tools but also offering the simple features for the casual crowed. Bonus points if we can publish/share our work.
Right?! Now, I have heard that you can import scenes from other media into Showrunner. So it’s possible you can mix and match with the platform to create some really unique stuff!
2 for 2
Gonna sleep HARD tonight!
Whoa. So humans will be prompting AI to make shows, then those shows are played in a simulation built of AI who believe they're real and that their media is created by...who? by each other?
I believe that’s the case. Edward had mentioned that some of the “stars” of these shows will be citizens in Sim Fran as well.
I know, it’s A LOT to wrap your head around!
@@TheoreticallyMedia Well it's certainly not doing anything towards disproving simulation theory lol.
How you get to this
writing can't be worse than current level
I can't think of anything worse. (And most people have predicted this kind of thing is inevitable)
Creating content that actually is relevant to your wants and needs is going to transform this reality into Heaven on Earth for some but hell for those who reject it and stay with mass media that's made for who knows who
i think ai netflix is amazing idea to me i know some are against ai and some are all for ai i respect that and i know everyone in the majority always say a show, movie or video games is bad or good think it's a fact not an opinion i competely disagree with that because i think that's not a fact i think that's an opinion because what may be a bad show, movie or video game to some that it may be bad to someone else someone else will think it's a good show, movie or video game there are some unpopular movie, show and video game that the majority think it's bad don't like it at all that it's not bad disappointing to me that i think that some certain shows, movies and video games are good to me i enjoy so much sure there are some movies, shows and video games i love i think it's good and some i do hate think it's bad in my honest opinion maybe in my popular or unpopular opinion
You are a TH-cam personality called "tim". You've decided to change up your delivery style and now talk exclusively in beeps and boops while jumping around and wearing a mankini. Write a 5 episode sitcom featuring tim interviewing politicians in the manner of Ali g.
Not gonna lie: Would watch. 10 out of 10!
This is so bad. It's a meme taken too far. Even the youtuber code bullet has made this kind of AI "show generator". They are basically just making a more advanced version of a sh*tpost.
One big ego system :D
wait wait.. im just over the fact AI can make awesome songs now with human vocals..... this AI revolution is going a tat quick huh? :D im gen X, i need to keep up! XD
X as well (the best generation who seems to fly right under the radar!)- yeah, it’s nuts.
I read an interesting little fact about us awhile back. Apparently we’re the first generation to natively understand you can take one piece of technology, add another to it, and the device becomes something else.
Of course, keeping up with the breakthroughs that are happening now is basically a full time job! In a few years, the kids are going to be all: “let me just shoot this hologram over to your neural link” and suddenly I’m going to start talking about my old VHS collection!
@@TheoreticallyMedia remember when as kids we were happy we found that perfect stick that in our fantasy was a mighty sword? :D hehe ok looking foreward to your new vids

TH-cam kids channels are f! maybe.......
Yeah, I hear you-- But remember, this is Alpha/V.1...it only gets better from here. Like, 13 months ago we had the cursed Will Smith Eating Spaghetti video. Now, we're here. It's chugging along.
I look forward to tech that does this with games

the movie industry is toast, I'm convinced
While this is fascinating, I think 99.9% of people want to be told what to watch. Hopefully they have prompt suggestions and possibly would be able to predict what the individual viewer(s) might want to see based on personalized profiles or settings. I made this comment with zero time on the platform. Time to take a look. (p.s., in the video you have "10 million" but said "1 million".
I did! I misspoke with the number, apparently the goal is 10 million! Insane.
Anyhow, yeah- agreed. A lot of times people plop onto the couch and turn on Netflix to NOT think. That’ll certainly be a challenge for them in the future. Currently, I think it’ll mostly be the creative community who will want to play with showrunner, so it’ll actually be the opposite problem for them: users wanting MORE control!
It’s a balance they’ll have to figure out as they iterate.
I was thinking the same thing it’s gonna take a lot of experience and imagination to prompt something amazing. Could be a fun Choose your own adventure type of ting and good for a couple party tricks. However that’s just my humble opinion. It’s fascinating. Can’t wait to prompt my Monk Murder She Wrote cross over.
Cant wait when I will be able to make a massive epic story with foreshadowing, crazy plot twits and really good drama of Stop Sigh Man
I will watch that show and create fan theories for it on Reddit! hah
Who's going to watch it though?
@@nonyabusiness3619 I am not really sure if people would want to watch it I would post the videos on it online in case anyone is interested in watching it. I think the only person that will watch it is me and maybe with a friend or a family member will watch it with me. Anyway good question
Hollywood's reckoning is coming!
Good riddance Hollywood
