This has to be one of my favorite chapters in the series. THIS is a great example of showing the toxicity of the idol industry where actual people with normal emotions are glorified and pressured to be these"adorable,loving,angel-like beings"just for profit. It's amazing how even though Ai is long dead, her impact still continues to be as strong as ever and I'm especially happy seeing how Ruby realized this and decided to follow her own path, plus seeing her and kana making-up(sorta)in the end melted my heart.
from this, it gives me the feeling that these 2 know each other more than we originally know. the fact that they patch things up and talk to each other normally after that scene and falling out kind of tells me that kana was giving ruby a push and ruby just instinctively knew she doing that. kana has helped ruby before by being a bit blunt with her, so even tho kana let out all her pent up feelings to ruby it wasn't out of pity or hatred, it was more out of a sort of frenemy sort of thing. and the pannal that sells me on this is "good grief"
There is no such thing as perfection, perfection is such an ugly dangerous concept that should never be chased after, I feel really bad for Ai herself, the ugly evil wickedness of the toxic idol industry is just truly disgusting
Yeah, this series should be titled: Oshi no ko: the truth about all those who work in that “dream” called fame Because fame and being a celebrity isn’t as dreamy and glorious as it seems And I learned this from watching the first season of Oshi no ko and experiencing the series for the first time and checking the manga just increased it more
She is human. No one can be truly perfect. Even as a anime and Manga character. She has my sympathies. I love this character. I hope she finds peace in the land of yomi. ❤ and the real idols especially in Japan have my sympathies and love. ❤
Spreading hate on idols is dehumanizing, but people also forget that blind love and being parasocial for idols is also a form of dehumanization. This is best portrayed by how Ai is compared to a pet.
I love this chapter just because of how oshi no ko it is. Its heartwrenching, mysterious yet weirdly funny all the same. Getting a bigger look into ai's charecter was such a treat. I've always related to ai deeply so seeing her get fleshed out and not just be a legend is so great.
Really great analysis. That fans build their own idol disregarding the human Idolizing perfection not the person A burden in real life that almost always ends in tragedy .
Ai not being perfect was something I had a feeling since the start because of the subjective nature of perfection in fact the imperfections isn't bad it's shows the fact she's a human being as well Sometimes we should stop setting the bar so high on our favorite singers/bands (Looking at you Dream Theater fans) and accept the fact they can have a bad song or even album (Hail to The King by A7X, Falling into Infinity by Dream Theater, St Anger by Metallica) On the subject of peer pressure on famous people - I was reminded of a one in the NFL recently where Baker Mayfield only had a season (17 Weeks) to be the perfect QB for the Browns which is impossible for anyone (Even the Hall of Famer Quarterbacks needed more time to click with the team) A few song Recommendations about famous people dealing with expectations vs standards from others As I Am - Dream Theater (Bashing with people in the industry wanting John Petrucci to do 1 thing that isn't what he wanted to do) Never Enough - Dream Theater (About how annoying ungrateful fans are and the fact they don't appreciate the work the band is putting in) Betrayed - Avenged Sevenfold (Honestly I could had recommended this since Chapter 10/Episode 1 about how a Pantera fan having false ideas about Dimebag Darrel)
I admit that I too wanted to see ai as that perfect idol of love too But after learning the truth in the latest chapters of the manga, I don’t mind realizing that I lived a lie for thinking ai was perfect when I watched the anime because it was a kind lie that I am happy that I lived
Amazing chapter, amazing panels! Once again Ai's character is shown, once again what Ai has been through is shown, but once again her strength is shown. Absolutely proud of Ruby for realizing that she has to live as herself and not in her mother's shadow, and I'm very happy with the reconciliation with Kana. Some might say it was quick, but I'd say it was Ruby-like. Ps Ruby and Kana should kiss in next chapters, RubyKana > all.
I'm looking forward to how they are going to turn kana into a genius actor. Because this narrative feels familiar and I personally didn't like the ending. I don't think we get a new perspective on Ai. It always felt that behind those smiles there was a complex individual, I think that what we are getting is the realisation of the people who saw Ai as an impenetrable object. She seemed so perfect that no one stopped to think that it was suspicious because they were content living in their illusion, and when that illusion broke...well we know what happened 🕊
A heartbreak snip is Ai's phone mail app. NO unread messages but 132 UNSENT drafts. Wow, just wow. Kaburagi's selling of Kana as the Genius Actor is really going to piss off Akane, you think? 😄 Who will the story focus on next? Um... so what's been happening with Crow Girl? wink, wink
I was very much amazed by a quick recconection between Kana and Ruby. It was a very pleasent surprise for me, but now I have a bigger fear. I want to protect Ruby so badly! 😂I don't want her to suffer or die, because of her own father. Please protect Ruby at all cost! 😍Great review! 😃
This whole arc reminded me of Act age I won’t be surprised if aka got inspiration from that series act age was such a good series I miss act age. It was one of the best stories with an amazing female lead. I wish you did not get canceled. I wish the Author did not did what he did if Act age was still going on it would be One off the best series ever.
Ai is a totally broken sad character. Good video but the name of this video made me confused because we ( fans for the manga). This chapter is tragic and amazing. Hope I did not come of as a jerk
Honestly, it's not surprising but very predictable. We all knew behind the facade of a successful idol, there's darkness. It's just this manga was all cheerful and smiles at first that it gave the illusion of a happy successful woman who overcame all idols. I kinda hate how it took this long for this 'revelation' especially when she died a long time ago.
In ONK verse because like Ruby said in chp 93 "being pure&honest wouldn't make you famous" & as we know Aqua & Ruby used dirty scheme to get famous quickly while Akane used Ai persona to cover her insecurities. Even chp 96 blatantly show us that during her award ceremony.
Uhm might be a bad take but isnt it also Ai's fault for not showing any bad emotions even to her parents when she had them even before being an Idol? Like... she was intentionaly closing in inside what she deemed unnecessary emotions for her own mental stability when she was much younger. Some children's way of dealing with trauma is just plain enduring it. Whatever emotion she felt was buried deep within her and forced to replace it with a good emotion right aftee. With enough years gone by training this self defence mechanism she just feels nothing anymore and that is much easier to deal with I think thats how her perfect smile was born...
I don’t think this is a bad take. I think she’s partly to blame but she was also in an abnormal situation for someone her age. It seems that she had no real guidance figure. Those who could teach her would only tell her how to act for their gain.
She saw everyone wanted the Idol in her and saw that people didn't like it when she was being herself. Thus she mentally locked herself into that idol persona of hers even in her daily life. Even when that killer stabbed her, she was playing the role of the idol because she lost her ability to turn off playing that role of always smiling. In reality, she was so hurt by the people around her that she didn't want anybody to hate her at all in case she accidentally lashed out. I can definitely see her being suicidal. I don't see her surviving past 16, not with that mental state. Ruby and Aqua were both a curse and blessing in disguise. These kids were born with their previous life’s memories, which meant that they didn't need much care as normal babies do. On the other hand, the huge financial burden of raising two kids in Japan, that too on a Idol’s salary, proved to be a huge financial strain on Ai, which kept her busy. But it also proved to be devastating for the times she wasn't busy as she didn't stop having more suicidal thoughts, which lead her into doing stupid things such as contacting Kamiki. Ai so complex man. There’s a whole novel hidden inside her life’s story.
I mean her mom used to abused her & even jealous at her. The panel of a plate of rice with glass put on it is how her mom abused her. She also spend her life in orphanage until 12 years old when her mom get caught. Also the concept of Lie is love is something that she adopted from Ichigo if you still remember when Ichigo reqruit her.
*It’s the same as worshipping statues but they are not real. The ones who are hated by the world are the real ones. My heart and mind knows that being popular isn’t the correct path I was walking. The path I should walk is a world of endless land that has nothing to do with popularity, money or anything. That is how I imagine that scenery that only exist in dream world.* 2:40 *Is this Invicible reference?*
I don't think so, all signs point that they both did it with consent but it's very likely they were both just using eachother with Hikaru having more negative intentions than Ai they both probably trauma bonded with eachother
I'm disappointed in the direction the recent chapters have been taking. To me, it feels like they are mostly just spelling out things that had been implied in the beginning. I liked the character moments between Kana and Ruby, and Ruby realizing that she can be different than Ai. I also liked seeing that Kaburagi and Ichigo have a plan to help Kana grow as an actor. But a huge chunk of the chapter was devoted to an exposity monologue about Ai, that did nothing except explicitly spell out information that any average fan of the series with a higher-than-first-grade-level of reading comprehension would have known from volume 1.
Because majority of ONK reader is just dumb in general & always take everything as face value. Just look at Kana & Ruby situation back in chp 133 most ppl just blaming on Kana & never even realise what is Kana intention of doing that to Ruby. Also I even lost count how Aka want to tell his audience about Ai.
@@alficammy6159i don’t understand this. If you enjoy something, why wouldn’t you try to understand it? I don’t understand why Aka feels the need to treat his audience like children. What “big reveal” is next? That Ai just wanted someone to love her? That her life only really started when her kids were born? That the only thing she ever loved was her kids? Or maybe it won’t be about Ai. Will we “learn” about how Aqua had romantic/sexual feelings for Ai? Perhaps about how Ruby grieves Ai’s death by bringing happiness to others? Maybe it’ll be about how Kana is desperate for friendship thanks to her childhood. Or even about how Akane is struggling with becoming a perfect actress that everyone wants her to be? I’m saying this things now because if they’re revealed later I want to be able to say “I told you so.” These things should be obvious, but haven’t been explicitly said yet (afaik). If later chapters treat these things like a big reveal I’ll know I’m right.
@@inaminayo5327 you would suprised of how dumb ONK fandom was. I mean even till this day all AquaXAkane shipper just see Kana as a mean girl that ruin their fave ship. Also Aqua relationship to Ai is basically of how parasocial relationship work & during Ai funeral Aqua also questioning what is it his relationship to Ai, is it idol to a fan?, a mother to a son? or perhaps a love interest.

Completely agree! This chapter felt huge for Oshi no Ko
Ai used on herself Self-Embodiment of Perfection to be the "Idol"
For real.😅
