@@AHSHEEVED That's the best thing about horror games. That it makes you feel real emotions. Loved the Bioshock series for that exact reason.

There are many holes and hole metaphors in SH2 for obvious reasons I will not spoil here as well as a lot of blood in SH3 to symbolize themes of birth and miscarriage. The hole does not necessarily symbolise his lost memories, but the suppressed unconscious and his push against confronting his own guilt. He did not suffer memory loss, he suffered trauma. Suppression is more of a defence mechanism he has to push against, as a conscious choice to drill deep into the unconscious.
There are recurring circles and squares that have deep symbolic meaning. A lot of alchemical and philosophical symbolism constitutes a lot of the structure in the SH games, rather than occult symbolism. Cultism (what in your video is referred to as religion) is a side effect of twisting and degrading alchemical practice. Corrupting creation is the defining trait of evil, represented accurately in the SH games as a thematic level.
The inner turmoil, degradation, dread and despair are the general context in which each SH game explores and focuses more on certain themes that are translated in the general shape and imagery the Town takes as a result of projecting each character's inner struggles. Memories are not relevant to the other side of consciousness thus the lack of them gives way and leaves more space for exploring the deep unconscious world of the characters where connections are more important than something limited and restrained by time, like memories that belong to the surface level of the conscious world.
As one can observe the message of the hole that was there and is no more, is written on a square shaped window. The juxtaposition of the two and the inner conflict of each character is the interesting dynamic that is intriguing to explore as a player. 'Squaring the circle' is a stage of transition proposed by Carl Jung, as a path to the center, to the unconscious - a transition point to the unconscious. This theory has roots in 17th century Alchemical practice, sacred geometry and symbolism.
Going through hell, suffering and torment being the true way to enlightenment is the general understanding of these games, the experience it proposes to the player, I totally agree with. Confronting your own hell, and fears/demons, looking into the abyss is the complementarity of good vs evil being in constant opposition, a struggle against entropy to keep balance, the manifestation of order, constituting the fabric of reality and the disintegration of, these are philosophical themes explored within the SH series, and more recently the Remedy games Universe, Alan Wake and Control.
Symbols and Towns They are quite specific to each character of each game, with some of them being a constant recurring through all of them.
Sorry if i wasn't more succinct, and thank you for the nice video.

Impressive and very thoughtful. Thank you for this addition that I can’t help but feel are very accurate, even deeper in some ways than I decided to venture.
But definitely have strong truths within it in my own opinion.

"There was a hole here. It's gone now." is found in Neely's Bar and throughout the entire game you get hints of James being a heavy drinker to cope with the pain.
I'm fairly certain the hole is the hole that was left by Mary's illness and it's gone now because James plugged it by fleeing into alcoholism.

But time stopped for this version of Silent Hill at 9:10:15 on September 5th, 1993 (date on receipt from Texan Café). At this point "Neely's Bar" had not been a bar for quite some time (possibly replaced by something else, in physical Silent Hill.
The message continues: "...if you ReaLly wAnt to sEE Mary, you shOUld just DiE. But You mIght be hEadiNg to A diffErent place than MARY, James". The hole that was there, has something to do with his desired seeing of Mary, his earlier memory. It is a hole that he hid himself in, when the reality at home became too much. (And it's a bad habit he develops, to have a reason to prefer Maria, and to be able to make a mistake called Maria)
Presumably, the physical Silent Hill does not have a Neely's Bar, or even a Neely Street. Because this is the first important location on his journey of discovery, after of the bathroom. And given the Jewish themes (the bathroom graffiti quotes from Book of Job, and iconography of Lilith and the three angels sent to purify her, the 8 holes that take James to the 9th circle of hell: treachery, Woodside interiors, esp. Apartment 307 (original)'s "Fire Walk With Me" reference to the Black Lodge, which is the same concept), and given the purpose of James' alcoholism, it is likely, that Neely's Bar is a reference to the Ne'ilah, the final service and chance for atonement of the Yom Kippur - the point of no return. Conveniently, this street does not appear on the East Vale map, that James has brought with him, which genuinely comes across as a rather useless map, like it shouldn't even exist, due to lack of information on it...

@@philippeamon7271 This is way too much to answer in one post so let's do it piece by piece ^^
Where do you got the information that time stopped in the town and that Neely's Bar hadn't been a bar at that time?

@@Bambuzzsprosse All the clocks and the solved grandfather clock stopped at 9:10:15.
In the original, Neely's Bar contains only a register on a counter. No evidence of any recent business. They spruced up the place in the remake, but it's still as empty as a dance studio, where most of the town looks like everybody was randomly surprise raptured 5 minutes ago. Neely's has been cleared out long in advance.
