If i were you I'd just replace the old electrolyte caps as they tend to dry over the years. Others components you mentions such as diodes, trimmers, polystyrene caps no need to be replaced. Im sure you don't know the V settings as you don't have the manual. The other way is to measure the orientation (resistant value) that you’ve mentioned.

Great video. So what difference does it make to the sound?

Honestly it sounds similar as everything was still in spec, it was just to get it consistent and reliable. Especially with expensive electrostats plugged into it

I have one of these and i would like to check/set the bias. Where did you get the service manual and does that describe the procedure?

I ended up removing them as I found the voltage rating was too low for this application :(

@@whatcouldgowrong7914 Loved this video. I’ve got the same amp and want to service it.
What did you do about the trim pots? Did you put another new type in, or did you reuse the originals?
What voltage rating is necessary for those trimmers and what value are they?
Any info would be v much appreciated.

@@lp12vinylrips I ended up leaving the old ones. The new ones “worked fine” but the voltage was over 300v from memory and out of spec for them. You can confirm the voltage on yours by measuring across the pins while its on but I think it was high 300v range?

@@whatcouldgowrong7914 thanks for the info. I can see that most modern trimmers are limited to about 250V, so I’ll have to try to find a higher spec one

Electrostatic speakers are fascinating, but electrostatic headphones? Given your channel's name sake, I might prefer to pass on the opportunity 😅.

I'm listening to mine right now, they sound amazing. I just wish you didn't have to buy 15+ year old Japanese amps.
