Thanks for posting information about dragon stone - it was good to see the unfinished product being worked with. After working with it myself now, I can recommend a method that doesn't use a flat bladed screwdriver in this way and which I therefore found more safe. I soaked the stone in very warm water, which soaks into the clay and makes it more malleable. I then used an aquarium hose brush to clear the holes, mostly keeping the stone submerged during the process.
