  • This is one way of rigging a pull through for coming down. Others exist for different situations.
    We Train all IRATA levels every week in our 15 meter high indoor training centre in Sheffield. 5 minutes from the train station, and 1 hour by train from Manchester Airport.

    Love it mate, I find these pull through techniques the easiest way to navigate around site, always best though not to get your ropes, or slings crossed while performing this maneuver

    Can you eliminate the carabiners in the first part and just choke your lines through the loop on the alpine butterfly?

    If the haul ropes are left in place, what sort of height is possible? Would say 100m be achievable?

    How would you rig this for initial access on sharp trusses from the ground?

      +Dave Limson Thanks brother, I found it a few days later. Though the pull though from the ground using the pulleys did concern me; aren't they only rated for 5-8 KN?

      @@tyroneemail I was concerned about the same thing. Turns out that most fixed-plate pulleys used in climbing are rated for 5-8 kN working load but have an ultimate load around 20-28 kN. (Petzl Fixe, Camp Sphinx, ISC Micro etc)

      +adam hayes Use a couple of pulleys for the alpines to butt against.

    1 question, can i just use crabs instead of attaching pulleys? Can anybody give me a reason why.

    • @jarenherbert506
      @jarenherbert506 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't want to side load the crab against the pipe or whatever the structure the rope is around making the pull thru.....wrap your rope twice around the crabs pull up to desired height and then ascend......the friction will prevent the crab from touching structure
