  • If there is a coming food shortage don't blame me, I only spilled a little. I was given an incredible opportunity to experience what it takes to harvest wheat in northern Colorado. It was an eye opening experience. These men work endless days and battle unrelenting odds to put food on the plates of ungrateful millions. Even with the background I have in agriculture this experience showed me just how little I appreciate the amount of things that have to go right in order for a hand full of wheat to become a cake of bread. I hope this video gives you and ounce of appreciation for the bread you eat with your dinner tonight.
This may not be a sawmill video but it sure is in the keep it dusty Category. I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed working and operating the trucks tractors and equipment. As fun as it was for me it was still a ton of work. Next time you see that farmer or rancher in your area, Give him some grace, shake his had and say thanks, you may be the only one to do so all year.

Excellent video, thanks for sharing it was very interesting. Yup, lots of machinery lots of maintenance and long hours. About how many acres does it take to get a bushel of grain?

Great question, it really depends on the weather with a great season they can get 50-60 bushel acres. Unfortunately they are in a drought, we were doing around 20-25 bushel acres.
