    Great way to be in the danger zone. That ground man needs some serious training how about letting out some slack on that rope and standing about 20 ft further back so you're not in danger. Sloppy work to say the least and yes I've been a tree man forever 40 years but what do I know right lol. For that matter if you have a portable bucket on the job site why not just piece it down instead of taking such a large section at one time. Always remember in tree work haste makes waste.

      No one cares how long you’ve been in tree work. Was the groundie in a bad spot? Yeah sure. Did he perfectly land that stick? Yes absolutely. The guy on the porta wrap is exclusively supposed to slow down the chunks the guy in the tree is sending. Get real and grow up.

    I was helping cut down a dead dade county pine. Was in the Bobcat doing the tensioning and once the tree fell it broke in many pieces as it was termite eaten. Had a branch fly off and end up with me in the machine. It was so light it didn't hurt me but it did have mean ants in it! Looks like you took on that tree all by yourself.

    Those old caterpillar crawler loaders are tough, it is no wonder it was not damaged by the tree. My favorite part of removing hurricane debris is picking up and loading with the Bobcat, I do the same using the Bobcat to hold and lower logs with a rope.

    I did this replacement for the second time and it's easier than described here. You need to remove the small wood block guard for the belt. Need to remove the whole upper blade Tensioning hole guard and you need to remove the small metal guard on the top left side of the wheel. Need to release the tension by taking the belt off the front large wheel. With the slack you need to turn it sideways and slide it behind the small wheel. Then you're home baby. Just reverse that process and you got it.

    Nice video. Love the lift. Do you find the 50 footer being too short or does it cover most of your jobs. I noticed you did not use a chipper but instead hauled the limbs. Just curious, was it because you would need another tow vehicle? Asking because we are looking at adding a lift and that is what we are facing; another large item, another tow vehicle, another worker.

    • @DustyRanch
      @DustyRanch ปีที่แล้ว

      I am glad you enjoyed it. I love the lift but do wish I had more reach. The reason I am not using a chipper in this video, I try to keep my overhead low. For me that means no bank loans. I have been saving up for a chipper for a long time. I actually bought one last month. I have 2 trucks and 3 machines that go out on jobs. Just means I have to make another trip

    • @DustyRanch
      @DustyRanch ปีที่แล้ว

      I truly appreciate your concern. No one else was on property, no risk to anyone except myself. That said the risk to myself was extremely minimal because of my location. That said, risk is inherent in most things we do. Complete safety is an illusion. My goal was to show the danger involved if others were around and why we keep guards in place. Great comment please continue to watch and enjoyed our videos.

    Your 4th and 5th lever for the log rollers. You should take them handles off and bend them at the same degree down so when you go to grab the levers those levers are not in series with the rest. They are a one off feature so you dont need them during milling time. Or could even make them longer and bent.
