    Nice job there Graham. Good to see you're getting a supply of A1466's to repair still. Glad to see FlexBV and the USB-C meter came in use too ;)

    Minor correction 820-00165 boards are both 2015 and 2017 models. Chassis and screens are interchangeable between all 2013-2017 models though.

    3:12 Omg, a bird was sucked into the laptop 😂 - It is always super interesting to look over your shoulder when you are doing these repairs, even though I am a complete electronics novice. I wish I had someone like you around the corner here in Germany as I am having some minor issues with the battery charging on my beloved old MacBook Air A1466 - I think something weird is going on as the new replacement battery is not working reliably.

    Great to watch you reworking all those components, I still need more practice at doing that as the monitor I was attempting to repair had to go in the WEEE as I lost a couple of the teeny-tiny SMD capacitors I had removed!! :(

    I think here we are looking at the effect of very humid environment in conjunction to exposure between high and low temperatures. This couldn't happen by a single spill of liquid but from condensing humidity and dirt accumulation in a period of time. Watching quite a few repairing channels you are one of not too many explaining step by step working along with the schematics. This is very educational and real knowledge sharing video.

    Done watching, thank you very much for the informative repair video. I have learned significantly more troubleshooting & repair lessons in this tutorial video and to your other repair videos as well compared to my ENTIRE 4 YEARS OF COLLEGE due to the rotten & outdated standards of education here in the Philippines. I hope you will soon have a mini-series for Schematic & Boardview-free Voltage/Power Rail Tracing[12V/18-20V Main Voltage Rail, 5V, 3.3V, CPU/GPU Core Voltage Rail, DRAM Voltage Rail, IGPU Voltage Rail, System Agent/Northbridge Voltage Rail, PCH Voltage Rail, BIOS Voltage Rail, Battery Power Rail], Proper method of testing/checking of potentially faulty MOSFETs & ICs/Controller Chips, CPU/GPU/PCH Reballing and BIOS Bin File Editing.

    I have this exact board in my Macbook Air. I have really considered trying to reball new RAM chips into it to get more RAM as 4GB is a bit painful these days. On the other hand it has been a very reliable hard working machine for many years. One of the very few products Apple made that maybe approached being worth its price tag when it was released. When mine was new in 2015 I actually would regularly get 8-10 hours out of it on a single charge which was useful given my job at the time. Glad to see this one live to fight another day. Years ago I used to watch Louis Rossmans autistic repair streams until the early hours of the morning.

    Mega like! I absolutely loved how you read and explained that schematic, really appropriate for begginers to get a feel for how they should read & interpret these more complex schematics. I'll deffinitely need to look at other videos to see whether you explain like this in other videos. I could learn a lot!

    This board is propably going to run several years yet.
    The biggest thing killing these laptops is software updates.. hardware turns way to fast obsolete..
    Got a dell 2017 xps 9550, i7 quad core, nvidia gpu, on second battery…cant update to win 11. Still is a fast and sleek computer, but no win11 equals over time obsoletion…

    Great content, as always, Graham. I know you did a video about bench PSUs quite a while ago, but would you mind sharing an update about how you are connecting the USB-C (including power supply + Paul Daniels's meter)? I'm looking for an effective way to have a USB-C supply connected to my bench PSU + meter. I have a feeling my PSU is not ideal (being it a cheap one) having short circuit protection & needs to be shorted to be able to adjust the current. Thanks. Daniel.

    I'd really like to acquire the knowledge to do these kind of repairs. Could I ask you how you have gained all this electronics knowledge ? I've been running an IT sales/repairs/support business for 30 years but I have never really had this board level repair knowledge (I do everything else except board level repairs). I'd like to be able to do these kinds of repairs myself instead of farming them out. Thanks, Steve Express Computers

    Please could you tell me what flux you are using and what mix the lead solder is please? Any links would be great.

      Amtech V3. I did have a UK supplier for it, but they're not stocking any more, so I don't have any links.
      Solder is some ancient spool I've owned for decades, no idea what spec it is!

    Hi Adam, Fantastic video, as usual. I really appreciate your time in producing these. I have a question regarding FlexBV. Where do you obtain the schematic and board views from? I've looked on Madcap's and either I'm missing something, as I can't find a central point where these can be found. You help would be greatly appreciate.

    Nice fix!
    Is it possible to swap logic board on my old MacBook Pro Late 2013 13.3" Retina A1502 for a smaller upgrade?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think you'll be able to get a meaningful upgrade - the 2015 Retina has a different chassis version, so 2014 is the best you might be able to do, and that's not going to change much unless you were able to go from an i5 to an i7 or something. There's wiggle room with the MacBook Air because the chassis itself basically didn't change for like, 6 years.

    For what i remember also a trackpad or keyboard problem could prevent che board to power on.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kind of. I don't think it can prevent the board from starting, but if the keyboard isn't getting a proper link, the power button might not work, which might look like a no-power situation.

    I've never un-subscribed from your channel yet I've probably subscribed to it maybe 10 times in the past month or so. If you're loosing subs perhaps it's because of TH-cam. When you show in my feed they show up as a mix set of videos, that's when I'll see if I'm subscribed to you channel and sure enough I'm usually not.
    Eifherway, I hope that this gets sorted out because I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
