Pro Tip: It is not necessary to remove the motherboard. The fan can simply be pulled out after both golden-like screws are removed. Then a vaccuum cleaner can be used to suck out the dust from the heatsink. This saves a lot of time ! It is necessary to de-tach the led and keyboard cables though when removing the keyboard ofcourse.
The fan can be disassembled even without removing, just by removing the 2 little screws that are holding the metal plate to the plastic. Also can be cleaned that way, but you have to remove the board if you like to replace the thermal paste. :)
Also place some soft cloths like pyjama or towels on the display to prevent scratching it, and maybe external/top too, and at least some cardboard underneath to again prevent scratching the laptop or table, especially when laptop is flipped the cardboard should be somewhat clean and not have heard materials on it otherwise top of laptop may and will be scratched... as long as display is not scratched then I am cool =D It has a pretty beautifull top as well, reflective and such... so try not and scratch it ! ;) :) I had one tiny little scratch on to maybe a few centimeters very thin, not sure if it was there already, but that scared me a bit so I place some cardboard, I could hear some scratching without it... so good idea to do that.
Thnx 4 ur work , i have a Toshiba L670 and i want to repair it , would u like to tell me from which other Toshiba Models , will i find similar Pieces ? Thanks .
@@LaptopDisassembly Thnx 4 responsing , i do notice now the difference between my Mainboard n urs in Video , Thnx a lot , anyway ur Video is really helpfull .
The screw that holds the harddisk door and such is also different, it doesn't have rings all the way across it's shaft :) The shaft closest to the grip point has no rings/groves and is just smooth.
Also be carefull not to stick screw driver into an empty screw hole, if you do you might damage the plastic and the screw will let loose ! ;) The screw holes are deep and dark and hard to see if there is anything inside of it and such, a flashlight will help a lot, it's easy to make a mistake though, so many screws.
I also just popped out the 3 at the battery, couldn't descrew them, I dont see any harm in doing that as long as not too much breaks off. There was some residue that was of metal so caution if this is done. I guys I got lucky and I shook it out. I would suggest shaking the laptop a little bit to see if anything falls out, don't want any metal things shaking around in there ;) Just dont shake it too hard.
It's very important to have a magnetic screw driver for the tiny little screw that goes into the fan, cause otherwise it's hard to get it back into the hole, by magnetically attaching it to the screw driver it can be placed into the hole and then slighty screwed tight so the magnetic force can be broken. pretty good video, some models are slightly different and have a few more screws here and there but not to hard to figure out. I used a knife to get the plastic loose and noticed a few more screws here and there, thanks a lot for this video, it's pretty excellent ! ;) =D I probably could not have done it without breaking anything, some steps involved... on my model the lcd connector had two push pins to push down to get it disconnected, there was indeed quite some dust on the heatsink near the fan so I cleaned it, I'll be very curious to new temperatures currently it was 94 and 83 degrees celcius for cpu and gpu and made the laptop shutdown at 30 degrees ambient so I had to do something glad I did ! ;) the serial part was also getting very hot, so hot it hurt like hell when touching it, now I understand why, most of the dust was on "bottom" of the heatsink near the serial part it gets blown there by the fan spinning that way I guess, it was like a bed of dust/cloth that came off in that part and then some more in the center, sucked that off with a vaccuum cleaner for kicks and just to make sure the heatsink is 99.9% clean, the blades them selfes where ok and clean and the rest of the laptop pretty much too, used it for 7 months from my mother which used it slighty now and then haha.
Something weird happened though. I didnt know exactly how to remove the power socket on the top far left, so I did something stupid and stuck the screw driver into the power socket... then I saw how to remove it by just pulling it out, but now the adapter is beeping a little bit... maybe it's some kind of wire-whine or something or maybe one of the safety or ground pins is off... or maybe it's charging the battery, I never really noticed this beeping before, but it's now very quite at night. I am also missing one of the screws lol... one screw doesn't have to be removed. Initially I also forget to re-screw the two screws near the harddisk... one missing screw is alright nothing to fancy pancy... I don't think it's inside of the laptop I probably shacked into on the table somewhere or whatever... might be helpfull to make drawing on paper or so where screws went or to keep track of numbers/ So far so good though, testing temperatures now. So far cpu max 73 celcius and gpu 65 degree celcius gane just started but I have to do a bit longer testing, so far it seems promising though, this at 28 degree celcius ambient, two degrees cooler cause of rain/thunder bye for now.
I found the missing screw it was magnetically attached to the display panel it has some kind of magnetic inside of it at the top weirdest thing ever haha. this could have caused major damage to screen. Glad I found it... I hope the adapter isn't dead though.. I am going to re-open it and check the power connector, so in this sense your tutorial sucks and is kinda dangerous... it did not explain properly how to remove the most dangerous and crucial part which is the power socket !
Fuck I think the nearby thunder clap destroyed the power supply so sad... from all the fucking days it had to be now... damn,,, nothing else died in the house, I am going to check the power flat cable part of the video to see if it maybe must be upside down or something... the laptop did work on battery power, but the battery is out of charge now so that does prove the laptop works and the problem is with the power.

Thanks, this helped me a lot, although there were still some screws I missed, so TIP count the screws on the video if the lid won't come off
Thank you so much for this in-depth instruction.

The laptop parts are not very "exchangeable" what exactly you need to replace.

Also one more thing, the 4 screws of the keyboard are of shorter length than the rest, so beware ! ;)
I'm disassembling laptop for roughly 15 years, dont worry.

I shoved it in a bit dieper maybe that helps... the power plug that is. there was also a maybe thunder clap. maybe it has hurt the adapter not sure.

I think I accidently bent a power oin inside of the power socket, with flashlight and tiny took i bent it back going to perform a power test now.
