    In case anybody is wondering what Seimitsu lever he's talking about, it's the LS-33.

    • @fthetm
      @fthetm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      33 or 33-01?

    • @ScanlineCity
      @ScanlineCity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes sir! Thank you!

    • @epicon6
      @epicon6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The LS-33 is the original compact Seimitsu and all compacts LS-55,56,58,60,62 use the LS-33 PCB.
      The original was only with .187 fasteners and now both are named LS-33 Kai and LS-33-01 Kai only because the original plastick base was no longer available.
      I know that Arcade Shock requested Seimitsu to make LS-33 again because of customer feedback but what i don't know is do they still make them? They have been out of stock for like 2 years or maybe i have just missed the stock when i have checked for it.

    • @epicon6
      @epicon6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fthetm 33 has a better chance of fitting since it's about 1.2mm thinner from the base because it doesn't have the PCB. Both have the same length shaft though and the 01 version is better if the stick is limited in space around where the stick is placed because of the .187 fasteners.

    • @ScanlineCity
      @ScanlineCity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@epicon6 this is true. The Kai version from arcade shock was specifically the most compact version I have ever seen

    I came to this channel relatively recently, so this is the first LEGENDARY ARCADE STICK video I've gotten to see as it drops! I'd love to see a mod video if you're up for it! They're always a lot of fun to watch.

  • @ShadowBlade79

    The Fighting Stick PS is the first extensive mod I've ever done, and I'm actually pretty proud of how it turned out. Little tidbit: the SS and the PS are so related, they use the exact same daughterboard for the buttons. Seriously, if you look at the board, you'll see two different sets of button labels for both the Saturn and the Playstation.
    The reason why the buttons feel so off is because they're not microswitched. There's a specific contact point on the daughterboard that each button has to hit to get an actuation. Unfortunately, that means you have to hit the button almost dead center to get that input. And that's exactly why I decided to mod mine. I used PS-15 Seimitsus because they are so low profile. I also threw in an LS-56-01 lever because of its compact profile.

    Good to see one of these videos again! These are pretty decent sticks. The only thing I really dislike about them is that the cases can be a bit shallow. We spoke about using the LS-33 due to its small footprint sometime back. I’d like a mod video on them!

    That frosting-covered cake slice of footage of Star Gladiator is one of the best retro clips on youtube. Excellent photography and editing. It looks glorious. I didn’t know that game but I could tell it was Capcom from the color palette, art, and approximate era, it made me research through every 3D 90’s fighter to find it. Many retro videos make their old games look ugly like they have no idea what scanlines or CRTs are. Beautiful work here. Deserved celebration of a classic.

    Hey! ScarletSprites sent me!
    This was the first video I chose to check out from your library.
    I love old Hori Fight sticks. When I started collecting Neo Geo AES half a decade ago, I was lucky enough to get both the Neo I and II fight sticks complete in box... without the cancer/rusty screws on top, and the bottoms are free from rust.
    I also have the PC Engine Hori Fight stick as well CIB (I think it was new-old stock, as it still had the clear scratch guard stickers on it). I got all of them for under a hundred each, and that doesn't seem to be anything people can expect for these days... especially the Neo Geo Fight Sticks.
    I've been looking for CIB Super Famicom fight sticks, but I too have struggled to find ones that weren't rusted on the sides... maybe I will just have to suck it up and just get ones that aren't so bad and are otherwise in great condition with the box.
    I have 2 Sega Saturn arcade sticks already, but they are the US ones that are very plastic'y. I picked them up at TooManyGames a few years back for $25 each CIB.
    I thought the Dreamcast sticks were really well made (the one with green buttons)... I had them back in the day, but I've been looking for a good deal on them to own them again.
    If you haven't noticed, I love arcade sticks!
    My most recent arcade stick one was the AstroCity stick they made not too long ago (maybe 2 years ago?). I really like it, but the buttons aren't my favorite. I use that primarily for my MiSTer setup.
    Anyway, I love what I've seen so far and I gave you a subscribe. I'll have to thank Joe for pointing me in your direction.

    I got the PS1 version of the stick, even though it's based on the original PS1 controller and not the later DualShock series...
    Months from now, I'll get the Brook USB to PS1/PS2 converter along with the Wingman SD and the Wingman SNES... As for the Turbografx-16, I'll just go get the Analogue Duo when it comes out, since that one uses USB controllers... But I'll still get the PS3/PS4 to Genesis and PC Engine controller adapter for the Genesis console...

    Cool content dude! Went right out and purchased a Famicom fighting stick after watching this and I love it! It would be awesome if you did a mod video on one of these because I want to change the stick out with a better Seimitsu stick than the one it came in it and I'm a little intimidated by the solid solder connections when I'm used to just unplugging unscrewing and plugging a new one back in in my newer Hori's. Also would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on your favorite models of Seimitsu sticks and what sticks you would suggest for the Hori Fighting stick and for STG's? Thanks, and keep the cool stuff coming

  • @wagnerpanther
    @wagnerpanther 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, you should do a mod video!
    The SNES ones are still cheap (I picked up one last week for 800 yen that didn't look too bad) and the PCE one has become ridiculously expensive during the pandemic, but the sides and bottom look rusted so I'd like to see you restoring one.
    Also a lot (but not all) of the SS/PS sticks have the same PCB and you can find the connector for SS in the PS one and vice versa so you could have a dual stick.
    Also, where do you find LS-33's nowadays? We need to get Seimitsu to produce those again.
    By the way, did you know there's a HORI JOYSTICK for PC with a Gameport connector? It's very rare to find it nowadays.
