Inspiring figure for the Malay community in Singapore. Anyone can be someone regardless of your race and background. Awesome!
What a sensible CEO, talking like a professional money manager.
So, happy to see that in competitive places like Singapore or even Hong Kong, those with talent do well in finance and banking, irrespective of religion, caste, creed, colour or race.
the difference in depth of thought about the market despite "i come from a banking background" is night and day. Suhaimi is head and shoulders above but was kind enough to entertain ms sim here.
LMFAO
Nice interview, not sure I love the format with the focus on the food and the intro on the restaurant, but the interview and the explanatory material was really great! thank you!
Amazing video. The editing is stunning! Thanks to the interviewer and her team for producing this piece.
Hmmm qns I would have asked:
1. Succession planning for the firm
2. Views on lowering the barriers to entry for retail investors who wish to enter the hedge fund space
3. What do they look for when hiring for talent?
4. How did Suhaimi transition from a legal background to finance/quant trading ?
5. What inspires him/motivates him?
6. Any plans to introduce their strategies using an ETF wrapper?
7. How does he identify philanthropic causes to give back to? (could be a massive headache picking the right cause + lots of administrative work)
8. Portfolio allocation between the asset classes
9. Portfolio rebalancing
10. How do they measure risk/reward
11. Views on the current global macro environment
(Maybe this production is targeted towards the general public and they decided not to go so in depth)
@Iskandar Aziz I think the production is creative enough to come out with the idea of blending the business talk and food at the same time. It caters not only to business-minded people but it will also attract those food lovers to this talk. Personally, I find this talk is enjoyable to watch (not boring) and at the same time can see what food the luxury restaurant serves (not all can afford to eat there).
I like the talk but i would prefer the interview to be conducted at Quantedge’s office. At least we get to see how big the organisation is, the trading floor where the action happens, all the setup of a quant trading firm. That will be more interesting and blends well with his narration about the topic.
If you're not a well-known banker, ivy league graduate, etc...
Then it's nearly impossible to network and raise capital. This is assuming you have a team in the first place that can actually generate consistent alpha for at least 5-10 years before you do so
@@resa574 ivy league maybe but the banker part is redundant.
1600%, which turns out to be around +/-20% annualised for the past 16 years.
Thought this was good?
Now google "renaissance technologies", 66% pa annualised returns since 1988, which gives a total return of 331,000% over the same past 16 years.
This was great!
Wise guy, he respects market instead of arrogantly going against it thinking he'll be able to win! No wonder Quantedge has been doing well for so long. I also bet he hires the right people, those who actually make money.
Any idea what will be the salary of the traders or are they paid commission as well?
Lol
@@alhambra792 2+3 million could be up to 50 million for seniors
This is fantastic
this video is superb! thanks a lot for the insights, and the concept of combining interview with food is so professional yet engaging!
Intelligent and high quality video
This was a very good interview!
Way better than all insurance agents in Singapore
You answered yourself by using the word INSURANCE.
Wondering if they extensively use Monte Carlo approximations to assign probabilities and model the risk spread of/in different markets? When I was last working in SG I heard rumblings of this happening and picking up.
Great concept of pairing good food and surroundings with a conversation with C-Suite Execs at funds
Nice video - what’s the track ‘let’s just take a ride’?
Editor is awesome.
Did they include a risk free rate whe calculating the Sharpe ratio? Quick math I see 20% return with 25-30% annualized volatility.
Probably this suggest probably theyaee just using leverage to generate these kind of returns given the volatility.
if it could add subtitles that is great.
Portfolio Management classes with Prof Chua Choong Tze was the best! Like if you know who he is!
How much minimum needed to invest in the fund?
1 million?
pretty sure they have a strict set of guidelines other than money when taking on new funds. listening closely to what the ceo has said here, your values probably have to be aligned with theirs i.e. giving away a portion of profits to their social cause etc.
USD 2 mil
What is his networth
hahaha. From a blue sapphire earring slowly it became ruby earring. Beautiful jewelry
Invested in bitcoin since 2017? Wonder how that's looking at the moment :D
Insightful :)
Better return than you
Technical analysis is to quantitative strategies as rain dances are to meteorology.
3 million to 3 billion is impressive but still small enough fund if there strategy folds they could lose everything.
I wouldn't want to talk with this woman because I'd be paranoid as hell that she's a spy.
She is just rude in many aspects
@@alchemistjeff how 🤣🤣🤣i personally like her

I turn off the video at @4.29 as Is funny when you run quant fund with global macro long/short and you can't predict financial markets. Obviously he is not telling the truth and that doesn't warren me to continue the video
07:22 this steak is what he's daydreaming about right now....ahhhhhh steak every meal with the management fee..
No one asked what is the restaurant ? :)
I agree.. The restaurant seems nice..
Anybody have the answer?
Hey @darren lim, I spot ion sky at the background.. Maybe that's the restaurant
The next Madoff ponzi scheme?

i really don't enjoy this video, the jumpcut with the food etc, really don't care about the food
This guy sounds like a figurehead lol. He's too sophisticated and politically flexible when answering questions.
U know his father used to be a member of parliament heh....
if someone can not see you straight in the eyes while talking, then they are not trusted and words are not from inside!

Heres an advice for singaporeans. Reduce your domestic investment and start investing in indonesia or china
I mean thats what singapore funds and big institution are already doing
