      You talk as if he did this on his own. That team was led by it's defense. Look at the offenses they had to go against during those runs and then compare them to the defenses they had to go against. The defense definitely had the much tougher task. Eli made the plays he needed to make but those Superbowl victories were won by the defense. They held Brady to 14 and 17 points in their Superbowls. Thats impressive!!! But somehow most ppl call it "Eli beat Brady twice" LOL

    I worked with Rich years ago at a newspaper. He even was a guest on my radio show after he went to ESPN. While I haven't spoken to him in years, very proud of the high-levels he has reached. And, this episode shows just why: rather than allowing perception to cloud the reality as people like Stephen A. Smith have, he just stated the facts regarding Eli Manning and the Hall of Fame credentials - One of only five to win multiple Super Bowl MVPs, two Super Bowl Championships, Most Passing Yards in a single playoff run in the Super Bowl era, Top 7 of every major passing category, never missed a game due to injury and did all of this, while under immense pressure. To me, it's a no-brainer. And, Rich could have gotten cutesy like some of the media, but instead he kept it honest. Mad Respect for him. Staten Island represent! And, remember Rich, Joe Namath STILL has great hair! And, Nobody beats the Wiz! ;) GOD BLESS and STAY FRESH!!!

    • @8mile_64
      @8mile_64 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Hall of Fame is not about how “good” you were it’s about how dominant you were. Eli might’ve had two of the greatest playoffs runs ever. But in totality of his career he was never seen as the best quarterback in the league. Never finished in any MVP voting, no all pros, never lead the league in any major statistical category except interceptions twice. Him never missing a game due to getting injured is amazing but people never mention his streak broke because he got benched… but the HOF once again is not a participation award because you never missed a game. The League unfortunately will probably let him in only for the soul fact he has two Super Bowl MVPs and will ignore every other season he has played in the league where he was no more than “really good” at best.

    Another interesting stat is that Eli has 5 post-season game-winning drives. 4 of them were 4th-quarter comebacks. Brett Favre, who's had many more playoff appearances AND wins actually only has two even. Two game-winning drives and both were 4th-quarter comebacks. I think that's pretty good. Also all of the years up until the very end has been pretty impressive. In the 2011 NFC Championship, he got hit 28 times and sacked 9 times, got physically man-handled, and still managed to get a win on the road against yet another team with a better regular-season record.
    I think that a Hall Of Fame QB represents what an upcoming QB should aspire to be and look up to. Eli is that QB. Never missed a start, played through some injuries, and just kept doing what he needed to do to win important games. A very classy and tough QB. The story of Eli Manning is a great story. The HoF is about amazing stories in NFL history and very important things to happen in the game's history. You can't tell the story of the 2000s-2010s NFL without Eli Manning. The place this Book Of Eli should be told is in Canton Ohio. It's more than worthy in my opinion.

      If Eli Manning gets in the Hall of Fame Julian Edelman should go into the HOF super bowl MVP you couldn't talk about the Patriots in the 2010's without Julian Edelman making great catches after great catches in the playoffs

    • @derpmcgerp8062
      @derpmcgerp8062 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dennis-nm1jm to me, Edelman definitely has an underrated case for the HoF. Everybody talks about his lackluster career receiving totals, but overlook the fact that he has also been a full-time special teams starter and arguably the most important special teamer on one of the best special teams units in the league for a big chunk of his career. I think when you factor in both his effectiveness on special teams and his postseason receiving records, his resume definitely punches up.
      Of course people won't wanna look at postseason stats because his teams were always great enough to be in the playoffs every year regardless, but they should still be taken seriously, just like it is with every great HoF player. A lot of QBs probably wouldn't have made it in if they didn't have their level of success in the playoffs, so it's weird to brush off Edelman's. Not only did Edelman put up numbers in the playoffs, but he consistently proved to be one of Brady's most valuable weapons, if not THE most valuable, and in especially big moments when he was needed. That's definitely worth something imo. Then again, I don't take the HoF as seriously as some. I think the HoF should be great players and awesome stories, and not necessarily only about elite stats.

    • @douglassgarvey653
      @douglassgarvey653 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only problem with your argument is that the Giants beat Brady twice. They held the '07 offense that was ranked #1 all time to 14 points, actually held them to 7 points for 3 and a half quarters. That has nothing to do with Eli. They gave Eli plenty chances to win. Then did it again in '11 holding Pats to only 17 points. So when you look at the facts that doesn't get Eli in the HOF. He has a .500 regular season record, only 4 pro bowls in 16 years, ZERO all pros, lost his starting position twice, is actually retiring bcuz he doesn't want to play as a backup again, I mean come on. It's funny how Eli has always been so hated in the Northeast, and by the sports media. When I lived in CA Eli was just Eli. The Iron man record counts too. I think the HOF is similar to how the MVP is awarded in basketball.
    LeBron has been the best, most valuable player in the NBA for the past 10 years, despite only winning the MVP once.
    Why is this the case?
    Because the MVP awards TELL THE STORY of the NBA.
    NOT just who is best.
    .....This same goes for the NFL HOF.
    You can get in via different routes: being the best, or by telling an epic story.

    Over the course of Eli's career, there is not a single WR who left the Giants and went on to have a better season with another team. Toomer, Plaxico, Nicks, Manningham, Steve Smith, Victor Cruz, Odell, Hixon, Tyree...none. Many of these players left the Giants and couldn't even get a starting job on another team.

    • @Jamescenter95
      @Jamescenter95 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Lam Amani Toomer was better with Kerry Collins. Toomer didn't go anywhere after the Giants. He retired. Plaxico spent two years in prison. Nicks was finished after the 2012 season, due to injuries. He came back to the Giants after he failed with the Colts and couldn't do anything with Eli. Jeremy Shockey was great with Kerry Collins and did pretty well with Drew Brees. Visanthe Shiancoe was better in Minnesota than he was with Eli in New Jersey.

      @@Jamescenter95 Regardless of the specifics of the reasons, it's still telling that none of Eli's WRs were able to have even half-way decent seasons after leaving the Giants...but yet Eli was able to be successful with them. Even more telling that many of these guys had fairly short careers (5-6 years). FYI - Toomer signed with the Chiefs after leaving the Giants but was cut in training camp. As far as TEs go, yes Shockey and Shiancoe went on to have better seasons with other teams (tho Shiancoe going from back-up to starter was the bigger reason...it's not like he had anything other than mediocre seasons in MN). But also consider that the Giants had a new starting TE almost every year after Boss (Ballard, Bennett, Myers, Donnell, Tye, Engram, etc), there was no consistency at that position.

Also, everyone knew Victor Cruz was finished before he left the Giants. He suffered season-ending injuries in 2010, 2014, and 2015. He did very little for the Giants in 2016 before he was released.

Eli fanboys like you keep putting down that Giants defense for what it did during the regular season but won't acknowledge how great it was in the playoffs and Super Bowls. It's so hypocritical of you, since Eli was mostly average in the regular season but had two great playoff runs. He was particularly terrible in that 2007 regular season the Giants won the Super Bowl.
