    Fun campaign to do with him (although might not be for every): never conquer any territories, just keep the graveyard, have your fleet run around pillaging and burning, improve your fleets and be a menace on the high seas.

      Yes, i highly recommend this (although I also authorize myself the right to install pirate cove). Act like a pirate and attack any coastal settlement make for a very aggressive campaign because you basically never need to defend yourself and have a huge variety of foe.

    Fun fact: You can *actually* play him like a true pirate! Instead of *taking* Ulthuan, you raze any settlement that does *not* have a harbour. You establish pirate coves in any harbour and leave the faction so weakened, they will likely be wiped. The new faction will often not be at war with you and you retain the income from their harbours. Then just roam around the world, doing island battles for cash and have atleast one hero establish more coves. Attack harbours whenever you feel like it and *always*! raze normal settlements since the AI rarely reconolizes them.

    • @sultansaywell4038

      My pirate coves get removed whenever other faction attacked the port of my enemy. Why?

    • @Coffeepotion
      @Coffeepotion ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sultansaywell4038 Maybe this was changed, but when I played a campaign like this they stayed. Only when you yourself take it or it is razed will they be removed (or atleast that's how it was for me)
      Edit: Maybe they are removed when you have a specific building in the cove or if you are at war with the attacker?

    It's an excellent Co-op Lord, if your friend is going with any of the "evil" factions; you can go wherever and support them and have plenty of movement range. My favorite combos are with Lokhir, Ikit Claw, Clan Pestilence, and Followers of Nagash.

  • @quadg5296
    @quadg5296 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    the vampire coast actually feel like pirates in wh3.
    with fewer armies about, ports tend to get left undefended.
    which makes pirate coves work.
    and the new "trade region" is a great way to make peace once you have set up all your coves and robbed them blind.
    raid their neighbour and get them a region. then get them another to make them fight someone else.
    I actually don't want to paint the map my colour or wipe out all the factions.
    because that would be inefficient.
    its the pirates life for me.

  • @yosoy1loco

    Just some additional info on why you should not only doomstack Necrofex in WH3. Ignoring the ranged nerfs, the Depthguards were buffed in WH3, additionally to the changes to regeneration, which make them a lot stronger. Noctilus has also access to a special shipbuilding increasing their defense, besides the generic redline skills and his special upperline skills. Through Noctilus the Depthguard get absolute bonkers defensive stats like fucking heroes. When defending the Anti-Inf-version has 66 defense, and the Anti-large 74 defense. It makes sense to have like 4 of them in your army that can protect your colossi from anything dangerous that cannot be sniped until it reaches your army.

    To be honest i still preffer Nouctilus's start position in WH2 over WH3
    Because in WH2 galleon's graveyard was so untouched in the middle of the ocean so far from anybody except for eastern coast of lustria
    You had so much options for which direction to pick for expanding
    You could go for lustria or Ulthuan or even Stalia or Araby
    The options was limitless
    I even went for Sartosa and captured it and it was a nice base of operation to have in the Tillean border
    The experience was far more exotic to mee in WH2 mortal empires rather than WH3 in my opinion
    But here in WH3 the game already decided your direction by moving galleon's grave yard closer to ulthuan and placing Noctilus right next to caledur
    I don't like this to be honest I hate ulthuan

  • @ates423

    I literally didn’t take any territory, just kept the graveyard. If you take out just the first few settlements then loop back to Tyrion, spend all your growth points to get mortars as fast as possible, then you’ll be able to conquer all of ulthuan without taking any damage because mortar full stack is op against siege battles. After that try to get necrofex collosus and you’re good. Just raze every territory and establish as many pirate coves as possible.
    Even with just one settlement you should be able to field 4 20 stacks of necrofex collosus by turn 80. The only downside of this campaign is all your autoresolves suck so you’ll have to fight everything manually

    This campaign is extremely difficult unless you are a very experienced aggressive player who tends to lose few troops per battle, if you mess up slightly and take too many casualties not only will all the HE factions declare war on you at the end turn, Morathi and the other DE across the sea will too... I went from 1 war to 7 on one end turn and then got stomped by 8 HE armies with 4 DE armies in the sea on their way.
    This went from one of my favourite campaigns in ME to one I won't bother with anymore in IE. Even on easy campaign difficulty this is still quite difficult because the diplomacy is identical whatever the difficulty it seems and the anti-player bias plus a little HE racism means they'll all be at war with you within 30 turns.

    Could you make a video on how to defeat Helman Ghorst's op zombies? My usual armies have no trouble killing the rest of his armies, I also manage to kill a lot of them with artillery but then, once in melee and out of magic, no unit manage to dish out more damage than what they heal. I'd rather fight a whole elite vampire count army than his zombies. So far, the only units that may help are any form of flamethrowers, but these have a hard time firing on anything because of their line of fire and range.

    • @leibster789
      @leibster789 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you do ranged army, don't waste ammo on zombies and focus core units (Lords, heroes, any mortis engine) with range and preserve big AOE for zombies
      If you play melee, run down core units and then just go blob on blob
      Anyway the best answer to zombies is blobing into AOE spells and flanking
      With dwarves you can try to save charges on miners/ironbreakers, they pretty much melt zombies

    • @Dante3214
      @Dante3214 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vampire Counts main here. Leibster is right. A handful of dwarven miners with charges obliterate zombies. You might even be able to put miners behind other frontlines dwarves, and they might just throw the explosives over the heads of the other dwarves (I have not tested it). 3 irondrakes on a hill overlooking your frontline might be able to shoot down into the undead horde.
      You basically want Ghorst to fall into your frontline in such a way that he bunches up. A tactic of VC is to create a dense blob. If you create a similar tight formation, then his army will be that much more clumped together too. Blobbing is very powerful for vampiric factions in particular (aoe healing and other mortis engine-like effects) but it is also a major weakness.
      Hold on to your magic until you get them to this point, then lay down runes of wrath and ruin or any AOE damage spells.
      Alternatively, find a way to destroy Ghorst himself

    • @adriankoch964
      @adriankoch964 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With undead you ALWAYS want to focus on killing lords, heroes and mortis engines as fast as possible. Once those are gone, the chaff will crumble away at ~50% damage if you leadership shock them. Fire lore is great vs Zombies and so is anything with explosive damage.
      With Zombie chaff (boosted or not) it's also handy to have a small character with high melee defense and armor in the front so that your ranged units have a really nice and compact clump to fire into. Learning how to group targets is 101 ranged play. Even ghorsts elite Zombies will take a while to take something like a Dawi Lord (pick unbreakable trait at lvl ~15) or Thane with defensive gear and an ironwarden's tankyard down.
      Rune of Spite is also very useful on that character, so make use of the instant gear swapping in Wh3. Get your lord the +ammo skills and remember that Master Engineers can rearm. Flame throwers melt zombies quick, but make sure to always fire into blobs so you get the most number of models per shot. if you have a Runesmith, the debuff rune is very useful as well and imo better than the buff rune, since it affects everything in a large area and turns Ghost's elite Zombies back into low tier trash.
      Keep an eye out for any Mortis Engines and snipe them before your troops make melee contact. If they have fliers keep an infantry unit behind your arty, because for sure they'll try to rush it.

Harkon somewhere in the middle but you're a pirate you can kinda just fk off if you have too and you'll be fine.

    The fact that they start so close to Ulthuan is absolute BULLSHIT. IT makes any high elf campaign a massive pain in the cock because Noctilus steamrolls everything with his starting army - you don't even get one turn in before he already has all of Caledor and most of Tiranoc.

    Count Noctilus in my campaign can currently 1v1 and entire enemy defending army in a siege battle using nothing but that pole arm

  • @user-tf9gr8hn6i
    @user-tf9gr8hn6i ปีที่แล้ว

    Noctilus isn't actually a triple lore caster, he has no lore of the deep spells. Also, his spells are no more effective than those of a generic caster hero, so spending points on making him a caster is just a complete waste. His mount drops his melee stats, and it's ranged attack is worse than an experienced Necrofex's - meaning you should *not* use it.
    Necrofex recruitment is also bugged again (same bug got fixed in WH2), you get 1 turn recruitment with all factions. Though regardless of this the best VC faction is surprisingly Aranessa's in WH3. Necrofex are substantially weaker in WH3, not stronger - this stems from the default unit scale being bigger and single entities not scaling their damage accordingly, all ranged attacks having gotten nerfed a lot, and single entities having wounds (though this hardly matters in comparison).

      @ruukinen ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you saying Noctilus is better on foot than riding a necrofex? On what grounds?

    • @user-tf9gr8hn6i
      @user-tf9gr8hn6i ปีที่แล้ว

      If all you have is your starting Necrofex you can put him on his mount to get some additional firepower, but once you can recruit them (and arguably even before) you should indeed let him go on foot.
      The reason being that any generic Necrofex is better at shooting than Noctilus will be, but you have nothing in your entire faction that is as good a frontliner as foot Noctilus. Don't let yourself get fooled by the big HP pool, Noctilus is *much* more durable on foot, and vastly more effective in melee.

      @@user-tf9gr8hn6i You could just summon zombies to tank though. I don't see a point in not having him on the necrofex.

      I suppose then you've just never fought a Feral Carnosaur / dragon stack on legendary difficulty. Or any actually tough battle.
