They're all 3D But yes, the Cold Steel saga and above was a massive visual downgrade. Errything these days gotta be 'anime' and/or 'realistic' smh They just look like erry other modern JRPG ever now. They feel worse to control, the battles look worse, the speech bubbles in the CS+ are awkwardly placed I wish people would stop trying to pursue "realism" and extreme visuals. I just want a good art style in a game that doesn't require an over priced and over powered machine to play. Or need 30W to run on my Steam Deck smh
Actually i always play JRPG with Japanese dub even I dont know the language. The voice emotion combining with the English text feels exactly right. I tried playing other JRPG with English dub before the voice over sounded just "too western style".
I'm going to be a weird one but actually prefer how it was in Sky games (only battle quotes) because it gives you an idea how character sounds like but you also can ignore the voice if you want and come up with your own. Yes, I know you can mod in Japanese dub from Evo version
I know that probably is not gonna be as good as JP but I want to hear it in English because it reminds me of a very pissed brother that heard something about her sister and English VA nailed better

The switch to 3D in cold steel kinda took some of the soul from these games, there is a different charm to Anime portraits.
