I was privileged to meet her once. She signed my copy of The Bluest Eye. I asked her if she could sum up her work. She said:"I love you". I didn't get it at the time but I do now...
2002, I won a college scholarship..."beat the odds", Atlanta GA.
During my televised interview (WSB-TV channel 2) l thanked her for "The Bluest Eye". I'd like to think she heard about it lol.
You are blessed.🙏🏽
Whew!
Thank you for sharing. Do you think you can explain?
Wow. Yes. She writing for us, the ones she loves. And she doesn't apologize for it and the world has recognized her for it. Right on.
I love the regal demeanor of Toni Morrison & the raw manner of her storytelling.
One of the many beauties of Morrison is that she presents the Afro-American (hi)story in a way that all can connect with, because everyone should. She captures it. What a wonderful being she is. Such a blessing.
so true. meanwhile some bristle at non-black readers connecting that profoundly to books like Morrison's, they think other readers are not able to get it. not true.
instablaster...
Toni Morrison is a literary genius. She's so vivid and brilliant in her writing. Her novels of one of which everyone should read. Even though not being an African American culture, Morrison' s novel was able to make the feeling of racism a mutual feeling throughout all races. Being a 16 year old, I was incapable of relating to the mature actions and the emotions that came with it but the novel was so great that I actually felt like I was experiencing it. God Bless You Toni Morrison.
Every word she speaks is Prophecy to me, it's just what it is and I cherish every interview/conversation of hers!! ❤🙌
She was so empowering and she stood on her message and her work like no other. ✨ I’m so grateful for each book of hers. 🕊❤️

She and her stories are an inspiration to anyone!
Very inspiring. I'm one of her greatest fans.
I have written journals from 15 to my present 78. I journal also on voice recorder apps. Writings and speaking journals are brain and heart dumps for the Soul, and we pray it educates others.
She’s a genius
I love her ❤

She is my favorite writer. She and Nikki Giovanni are just amazing.
I have never not read The Bluest Eye without tears in the end
One of the most devastating final paragraphs in literature.
Inspiring! Thank you Toni ♥️
She died August 5, 2019. R.I.P. and THANK YOU SO MUCH MRS. Morrison.
Thank you. This is a great interview!
This was very inspiring for me because I write. I have not published anything but I do write. I saw her on Oprah some years back and our Spirits connected, she really encouraged me to press to be more Unique and to continue writing. :)

The GOAT
"Yea..but, why so loud?"
Why so loud? Because nobody seems to listen or care even if you scream. We will continue to speak up. But I have learned to wait on my God, call on Him day and night for the judgment day is near.
Because they also are loud
@@ayoesuola she was being sarcastic...lol
An amazing writer, person, human, and champion for Black people. Respect her totally! Be sure to connect with Therone Shellman Media. The latest title is One Good Man, a very timely title, with an important message.

Much of respect to you from India!!!!!
Inspiring, thank you. There has to be a little bit of hurt ... wow!
Love this Isha
I haven't read her yet, but Beloved is my next to do.
@Angelkid190 You do what you like, and I'll do what I like. I can't imagine a collective response to this interview, except maybe that we can all agree she is an articulate woman. I have kept a bowed head since I read The Bluest Eye, and it will remain so, since in MY eyes she is a legend.
this is wonderful!
I can't see how anyone seriously interested in literary work can omit Toni Morrison from their cache of reads.
Wish to meet her one day...
Did you?

have read Sula, Beloved and am reading A Mercy rite now...
Will definitely out her other worlds; she presents race issues in a way every author should- as part of a larger world.
Love it all.
i have to do a project on an african american who made an impact on our society today and in glad i chose her.
Does anyone know how to get in contact with her? As in, to write her a letter? She is such an inspiration! Thanks.
RIP TONI
beloved toni morrisson thank merci
where oh where is the full version of this?
@branchwater7 And you apparently never read her "Song of Solomon". An inspiring work.
I find it interesting, that she doesnt mention Wallace Thurmans masterpiece, The Blacker the Berry, published in 1929. There were many black writers, male and female alike, addressing these issues-before she got in the scene.
I thought of Thurman's novel as well, but note that she was responding to what Black men were writing in the 1960s - a very different moment in time. Authors of Thurman's generation distinguished themselves by writing frankly about the uglier side of life, resisting the exhortations for uplift of earlier generations.
she z sinfully talented!
wow wow wow WOW
I can't catch the last sentence, can anybody help?
who is the interviewer?
❤
Who is the interviewer here?
Yes - who is the interviewer??? Ms. Morrison is so relaxed
"Why so loud?"😂🙏🏽
What interview is this clip from?
And sometimes just be silent and walk away!?
Why so loud? Sometimes you need to scream to be heard!
Sharneil Dunn I do understand, but just being euphemistic so to speak.🤔
It's hard for "one person" to be racist, whereas by definition racism is more a conglomerate oppression and dislike for a racial group. You might want to say she has some prejudice views or perhaps she is just very opinionated. :)
@Eurafrican Well said! Toni helps you see the universal truth, when you get too mired in the race issue, you miss the universal truth!
is she talking to Angela Davis?
leviamenra The interviewer is the great Charlayne Hunter-Gault.
Yes you can lived comfortable in Canada, but people are still racist towards each other. Toni Morisson is just acknowledging the racism that still exist in America. And no she's not blaming all white people!!! IF you actually listened to her commentary you would not that instead of jumping to conclusions. Take you're own bias out of the equation and use your ears. She write stories about the prejudice that black people. She blames society and bigotry itself not the people who perpetrate it.
Focus on people that are not paid attention too .
Ohh so you're going to conveniently forgot about how Aboriginal people are treated in our country. What the nice prejudice-free Canadians did to them??
Something that any thinking person should understand: the modern, constant reaffirmation- the vocal recognition- of blackness by African-Americans unto themselves, though it was at one time a cultivation by European-Americans, is now firmly, adamantly, upheld by African-Americans despite racial equality in many major cities across the United States. African-Americans alone further feed and cultivate the stereotype to which they were assigned; It's damages are unnecessary.
hahaha she is my aunty
Strangely , abantu abavisa abantu kabuhlungu bona bayalibala.
Are you serious?? You think there's no racism in Canada?? WTF are you talking about?? There's plenty of racism toward different minority groups it's just not as bad s America. Stop trying to make it seem like Canada is perfect!! Look at how the Aboriginal people are treated. Not to mention the remarks I heard from white people saying we don't want those peolpe coming here... i.e. Middle eastern and Indian people. They said that in front of me, it's like they forgot I wasn't white either. 0_0
MsLoupe aka Bonitaymorena of
yeah ok.. but why so loud? LOL
