She's so beautiful. I just love the way she speaks and carries herself. She's such an elegant, classy woman.

Toni Morrison is alright, RIP. She was indeed elegant, classy, lovely. I adore her hair! But I don’t find her speaking style that great. Though it’s better than that simpering interviewer. It’s slightly confusing when Ms. Morrison speaks of her characters like they’re real; and - well I’d also just rather listen to a historian. I used to love her novels when I was younger but I don’t read that much fiction anymore. (Loved Song of Solomon; still trying to finish The Bluest Eye someday.)
A Mercy is a phenomenal novel. It's like she's a medium, able to talk to the spirits of the past, to explain in detail their world. Her voice is a treasure to the world. May she rest in peace 🙏🙏

If you have never struggled thru one of her novels you have missed out on something that is only a gift of the universe.
Key word: struggled. I struggled through one in high school. Didn't understand it. Then I went and lived life. Then I praised it!
Currently halfway through Sula. I’m bowled over! What a talent.
Struggled? I never really felt that when reading her great novels. They’re pretty readable.
Nothing said the joys of literature like having to struggle through a book...
The Bluest Eye ripped my heart out and left a permanent pain in my chest. She is an amazing storyteller but one better be prepared before setting out on the journey.

I was lucky to meet her in Paris (I'm French). I asked her if she could sum up her work, she said:"I love you". At first I didn't get it (i was 25 at the time). Then later on, the more I listened to her in interviews like this, the more I realized she meant she loves her fellow human beings...she gave us so much...
I could only dream to posses the talent that this writer has in her pinky, let alone in her mind. But a person can still dream, and strive to be as.
Oh, my dear youtube attendee, you have no full idea of what you speak. This woman is probably the brightest writer--conceptualist, explainer--I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Seeing and listening to her Interviews is always a joy. Her work has caused me to write.

I can appreciate her so much more as a person than as an author: That is, I surely do not enjoy her work, but, seeing and hearing her interviewed, one can see she is an informed, thinking, and compassionate person.

Obama didn't write that book LOL. Love her, but her judgment on presidents was based on the fact she saw good when sometimes there really was none to be found. While their story will turn over and over in its grave throughout history, Ms. Morrison will ALWAYS be a blessing to humanity.

She failed to explain. Morrison is beyond her ability to comprehend.
Tony Morrison's prose is good, never great. Outside of the US, she was widely known but seldom read , and almost never adopted simply because her writings, though , appreciable to those that identified with the African American experience , offered nothing to one with a desire to indulge in prosaic excellence. That she was black and an American contributed to her Nobel victory and not her writing skills. I've seen folks stick to a Thomas Pynchon volume despite struggling just because they know the end shall be a reward unto itself or leveling abuse at Cormac McCarthy for his penchant for gore yet unwilling to part with , Blood Meridian ...
And should one be a student of literature at an Ivy League school, it's almost academic suicide to criticize the work of Ms Morrison , and most people shy away ; such is the influence of PC in academia that many youngsters despite reservations are forced to eulogize mediocrity.

@@maxineshaw3259 Of course i am , and , of course she was. Infact, even a comparison such as the one you are making is odious , and serves to belittle her. But i am sure that you'd concede that when a writer or an artist puts out their work for public consumption the consumer or in this case the reader has every right to judge the composition on its merits or otherwise. Criticism is simply the obverse of commendation. That is what i was doing . Opining. Nowhere did i say that she was a bad writer. And, unknowingly you proved my point. Had you disagreed with me on principle your rejoinder would have mentioned the writers i considered and perhaps exposited your thoughts on the matter or why you were in disagreement with me. But your retort is clearly an emotional reaction and doesn't allows for merit . And this is precisely my point. Her popular estimation is mostly on grounds of sentiment not merit. A manner of affirmative action by way of social distinction and that's exactly why she won a Nobel , while much better authors did not.A feel good politically correct gesture. Another analogy would be the affected manner white people take on when speaking to African Americans , sometimes even going to the extent of playing dumb , fo make the other fellow feel superior , as i said , a feel good gesture. It's nobody's case that a normal parley would not be intelligible to them. But then, it very well might not be. So they do it all the time, just to cover all bases.
All opinions are just that, opinions. Even the ones with many words.
