Really love the interviews where he explains his work process, where he gets his inspiration. After all these years he still gets such a kick from the process. His poetry is so relatable, so serious most of the time, I forget what a great sense of humor he has.
I love listening to Jackson talk about how his father was such a musical influence on him at such an early age. When Jackson says write about what you know...i believe him. I love his voice, i could listen to him speak every day, all day. It's no wonder he sings so well. Jackson has a lifetime of stories and continues to make new ones, if he wrote a book i would read it at least once. Thanks for this, i love this man so much words can't express, for being the human he is. He is a special man.
Love hearing how his Dad's influence impacted him as a musician, and a poet. Growing up with a continual reminder and insistence that he properly express himself verbally, I have a hunch had at least something to do with Jackson becoming as much a lyricist as he is a musician. His ability to find words that describe incredibly personal and simultaneously universal experiences and emotions resonate with so many of us who love words too. Such a gift. Thank you Jackson. Loved listening to my favorite guy, Jackson, regale the tale of how he came to NYC at age 18 and worked with Nico of The Velvet Underground...such a fun story. Jackson Browne is, indeed, one of the best, as Bruce Springsteen speaks of in Jackson's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame speech. I love the recapping of Cane & Abel, Warren Zevon as Cane and Jackson as the tempered voice of Abel. "Here to do his Father's work." Love that imagery and true description. Jackson is such a gift from God, for all of humanity. His body of work is beyond anything any human could ever produce; it is clear Jackson is divinely guided by God and a host of angels, a mix of folk, rock and roll and California Gospel. going to see him at the Beacon in New york next month.. glad he is alive and well and still doing shows and almost 75.. he is very smart, and very deep. and such a talented songwriter. i have met him briefly a few times.. New york will be fun.. did it last year also.. I am in rhode island and he doesn't do shows here too often.. but nyc is just a 4 hour 31 dollar Peter Pan bus ride away.
No one ever mentions that his father worked in Japan for the US Air Force., not even him but it's true. His brother went to Chofu High School in Tokyo on this Air Force base.
can't help but wonder how that 18 year old unknown musician managed to avoid the draft at the height of the war and had had no apparent deferments (college or kids) .. ???
For me? There’s nothing left for me and the dog to end give a second thought respect in the car at the airport and you are not so there’s nowhere to go no water no food stuck at the airport with everything in it and that’s where I stays… Nothing left to give everybody’s vampires and liars
I love Jxn but he's a little off the charts when it comes to some social issues. He mentions "people who were fundamentally here before we were..." and I'm thinking that he's lost in some sort of sentimental tornado to think that way. However, if he truly does think that this country with all of its wonderful achievements and all of the great things that it has done for all people, and typically without the help of other nations, creeds and tribes, some how suddenly and obviously transcendentally belongs to people who have never had anything to do with the making of America, then he's just nuts. Truly Jackson, if you think that, then surrender your home and other properties and possessions and be done with it. Go "find your way" someplace else without involving the rest of us in that psychotic dream. The world is in the middle of a gigantic mess and you need to pick side.

I know most of his work and it's fine stuff with much good said, etc. But your idea of 'late stage capitalism' is just nutz. The only alternative is Marx based socialism and if you think that economic system is better than free market capitalism then you're completely uneducated and an easily led dreamer. There are some things that can be done differently but becoming like China or N. Korea or some other dump is not the answer and I don't care who suggests it. The policies of the US government in this particular part of history have nothing to do with free market economics but part of the problem has to be borne by the citizens who exist completely on gov't aide. If JCB or any other entertainer desires Cuba or some other socialist paradise it's because he or they have lost his way.
And so here we are. We don’t all have to be the critic of beautiful and moving things be more thoughtful of the good things that can be a hopeful place without ruining gifts given which possibly can’t be understood by others.
