I just bought a rustler 4x4. I put a hot racing heat sink and fan on it and it helped a ton. Dropped temps from 180 down to 130-140 with 15 tooth pinion. Glad your doing videos on upgrades for the rustler. Been needing ideas on good upgrades. I do mostly street runs but the badlands could work on street too. Not ideal for street but would be a good upgrade. Thanks for another good video.
I had arrma deboots on my rustler and really liked them, but one blew out from the cold. So I put proline badlands #1173-12 tires on the front and back, I like the widest offset all the way around, and they are a little narrower than the deboots but similar tread. I have a set of the proline super swampers for the rustler and they work pretty good but are a little heavier
they also make backflips like 400% easier, they give the car that much more 'rotational mass'. That said the stock tires are very, very good at high speed but by default that means not so good for flips, as they don't balloon, hope that makes sense
I baught new gear adapters, to run a fixed gear 10t pinion setup. Tried going 9t but it wouldn't work with the fixed adapters. Oh well got a 9t pinion I can't use at all maybe it doesn't like the Raid Rims perhaps 🤔 ?
What material are your gears? How many pinion teeth did you have to lower to compensate for these tires? I put sledgehammers on my 2wd rustler and it stripped my spur and started stripping my pinion.
I put a set of duratrax mt's on mine. Stakker I think. Made like these with good 1/4" tread depth. They are extremely soft. Oddly enough I can slide them like crazy on hard pack. Get them on something soft and its backflip city.
I'm a big ProLine fan when it comes to racing buggies and SCT racing tires but for bashing I have to say that Duratrax has won me over..I didn't like the Speed Treads at first because they were on the hard side but they are very good in dirt, mud and sand..They also last forever!! I just received some 2.8 Lockups to convert one of my Senton SCT's into a Monster Senton and I'm very pleased
So for MTs would you go with PL over duratrax? I know you said duratrax for buggies and sct but what about the mts? Was thinking of getting some trencher x tires for my cheetah unless there is something better. Thanks bud
@@cwatson42785 Read again bud you read that backwards I think lol.. Proline is the best for buggies and SCT's imo but for bashing I think Duratrax is the best

I put the mx28s on my granite and I love them. Only down side is on pavement it's a little harder to wheelie for some strange reason but not a huge deal.
Do these badlands 2.8 come with adapters to use on either 8th scale and or 10th scale in the package? I’m debating 2.8 or 3.8 on my 8th scale team buggy
Man I got these wheels for my rustler 4x4 vxl and they look sick but the car is like uncontrollable i just barely tap the throttle and it half backflips and I’m in grass going about half throttle again barely tap the throttle and it flips I’m running a 15 tooth pinion though should I go down or up sorry I’m new to rc if this is obvious
I love mine on my granite! Although they make it a little harder to wheelie. Maybe you could tell me Ritchie if you notice the same. It's hard to wheelie on the street with them. With the stock tires it would raise up like nothing.
It would make it a little harder to wheelie on the granite with them on, that said if you did any flips over jumps with them on your granite should back flip easier in the air. You could try and enter my backflip challenge with them on? :-) On the rustler it'll still lift them easily but then this is running castle power. I may try them on the granite as I've now got some 12mm traxxas/arrma hex adapters.
@@DriftomaniacsRC I'll tell you what Ritchie I'm gonna not only post my first rc TH-cam video in your honor for your challenge I'm gonna try my first back flip! Lol im not a huge jumper but I've been wanting to for some time! What could go wrong!......lol.
Henry they work well with a small pinion on, I'd not recommend them with a 17-20T one though. The weight helps the car do flips a lot more easily. I used these for flips and the stock ones for high speed. What are you wanting to get out of your tires?
What about weight are they okay to run on the rustler because I heard that it can burn out your motor but I'm just making sure I'm just getting into rc
Looks very nice! Question about the stock tires: do the front ones have more offset (sitting wider) than the rear bandit, like on the 2WD model? I can't find that info anywhere..
Yes they hold up pretty well for the money, I've had one puff up a little but then I've had $90 lipos puff up as well. You'd need to check the size of the battery compartment on the traxxas website as I no longer have this car, also that's where I'd have to look anyway
Indeed I did wonder but went with what proline suggested to me, it corners very well though. Their description states these even for the 4x4. I may change two of them out. It's not meant to mislead but these are what was recommended to me.
MUCH better at flips, like ten times better than with stock tires, I said don't buy one of these thinking it's a mini erevo 2.0, however with these tires and castle power it will flip so much better than stock it's untrue. I shall shoot some flips now I've got power issue sorted.
Alex I know the same ones all round should fit however I was advised by proline to get these...They do handle very well though, turn in is very quick (in a good way)

Still the Traxxas CVD's or MIP X-Duty driveshafts? I imagine either are necessary for those tires.
I've the Mip ones on and the extra weight of them seems to help in a bizarre way
Are these wheels bigger than the stock ones that come with the Traxxas Stampede 4x4?
They are meant mostly for loose gravel or dirt. Almost too much grip for any hard surface.
do the zop powers (2s and 3s) fit in the rustler 4x4? have they held up well? Ive seen both negative and positive on them

Work well, bur should have bought all the same wheels. The different offsets are meant for the 2wd version. Even then it's questionable.

My spur gear stripped out with the mx28 badlands is it the slipper clutch spring or the gearing im at stock 11/54 spuld i go to 9T on 3s
