I really love your videos.I have been able to do better work and detail it better. In answer about what you said about more explaining.I just love your videos all ways. Some w explaining, aome wirh soft back ground music and some just quiet leather working.Im 71 years old and I appreciate your sharing very much.We never stop learning until we are gone Thank you so very much
Thanks for sharing your videos. I've been watching for quite a while. I make a lot of carry holsters and not a lot of tooling but I finally found my second Ruger Blackhawk and will be making a double rig for them and a scabbard for the Henry rifle to go with them. Your work is inspiring, I'm looking forward to the belt.
I put some of those on a denim vest I had yrs ago. I like the creak of that leather. When did it go from: "Aww dont worry about it, its Leather" To: "Oh, be careful, that's Leather." 🤔
Very purdy! Real eye catcher! Great for the range, afoot and around open spaces. Having been horseback a considerable amount of time, I would be a little concerned about the thickness of all that leather strapping that holds it all together. Things tend to catch on stuff. I've had a number of items snag on brush, tree limbs, treetops, logs and rocks. Sometimes resulting in broken, lost, damaged equipment and occasionally a few nasty bumps and bruises. Of course, one might ask who would buy such a nice shiny holster to wear riding off trail in the brush? Yeah, I am that guy. ;)
I use harsh, side light all the time for wood carving and gunstock work. I have two incandescents I can move around. Overhead light is the worst sometimes.
A trick you can try to keep in shot is put tape on your cutting board around the border of where the camera is aimed. serves as a quick reference instead of you needing to look up at the camera screen (if thats what you are doing)
I’ve been trying to find a similar pattern to make my own holster, problem is I have no idea what type of holster is. It’s not a Mexican loop because the loop is usually part of the holster. It’s almost like a buscadero, only more historically accurate. I prefer the small buckle he uses to connect the holster and the back rather than a traditional loop though.
I'm so used to autoloaders that I almost lost my mind when I seen the entire trigger guard exposed. The I realized it's a single action, so I guess it's not all that important to fully protect the trigger guard.
I have a smith and Wesson 686 plus (7 shot 357 mag) with a 6” barrel . Something like this fit that? Would be awesome to have a holster like this with matching belt. And qty 2 pouches for speed loaders.
youre videos are tremendous. very happy youre doing voice overs. happy to watch videos with voice and sounds but sounds only is such a frustrating waste of time.
Do you use a resist or resolene coating after the Spanish brown / neetsfoot oiling prior to applying the antique? I am trying to replicate your color / technique as I like the way they come out. My tests on tooled /stamped veg tan seemed to come out very dark on the tooled area and quite light on the non tooled areas. It’s almost like the antique is staining the dye ... I have run the dye and set overnight, then coated neetsfoot and another overnight sit then antique with immediate wipe and it’s still coming out very dark. Any advice?
No. Just the neatsfoot oil. Yes, the antique will stain the longer it stays on the leather. I apply quickly and Immediately wipe off. It's sort of a race for time as soon as I start brushing it on. If it's not coming out the way you want, try the resist. Different hides can have different results.
I used some tumbled soft veg tan like you show to line some projects. They came out great but the warehouse I got it from does not stock it anymore. I have not located a source for it, any help from anyone here would be appreciated.
That’s a lot of hard work and dedication for something that’s just a hobby. Thank you very much sir!

Amazing work. Very inspiring.
Nice rig, I like it. Make a good rig for my BBQ gun (polished stainless steel Ruger Single Six in .32 H&R). Like the carving and color.

Fantastic work! Inspiring also, I might have to try to make something again, but it will have to be about 500 times simpler for me to make it :)

Amazing

The I realized it's a single action, so I guess it's not all that important to fully protect the trigger guard.
Many cowboy action shooters use holsters that leave the entire trigger guard completely exposed. Makes for faster handling at timed events.
Not sure why this came up in my feed but, damn 👍
Where do you get all the spots or dot rivets or whatever they are called.Thank you
Tandy leather and eBay.

If you had to pick 10 to 15 shaping tools, which ones would be your go to?
Actually, you're probably looking at them in this video.
How do you move the beveler so smoothly?
youre videos are tremendous. very happy youre doing voice overs. happy to watch videos with voice and sounds but sounds only is such a frustrating waste of time.
What thread are you using it looks sterling silver in color or is that just the camera?
It's bonded nylon "natural" color
Great work on that lovely holster. Is that little hammer the Harbor Freight watchmakers hammer with 6 interchangeable heads?
Yes!
@@RoadAgentLeather Ok thanks
Why did you decide not to use a welt?
Do you bevel your leather dry
