What a gem! Can't believe I just found this on youtube... Nothing's gonna bring him back? I beg to differ...a month gone, but 'he' was definitely in that room. Just beautiful.
Wharf Rat was the last Jerry Ballad that Bruce ever played with the GD in June 95 at RFK. It was one of the few high points of that horrible deadly summer tour.
Me and Lisa and about 30 other people got up on stage and danced with Bruce as he played accordion and sang GDTRFB.... I think it was this show anyway ... I saw him there 4-5 times
Molo's drums sound AMAZING!!! I had tickets to see this tour in York, PA., but they cancelled the date to record tracks for Spirit Trail, and then Molo left the band. :*-( I did see Molo in Vegas with The Other Ones, but never with Bruce.
for those of who love this piece, and know that it's homage to Jerry, you should know that this 'piece' doesn't end at 13:32. This then segues into 'End of Innocence'. An amazing eulogy to Jerome. I have it on disc. One of my most cherished pieces of music in the collection
Actually “He’s gone” was written about Lenny Hart who embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the band. Hence “Steal your face right off your head”

I was listening to several songs by Jerry Garcia, performed by Bruce Hornsby. Absolutely magnificent. Rest in peace dear jerry...

Wow, September '95, less than a month after Jerry's passing. Doesn't get much more raw than that.
Wonderful. A fantastic version of Wharf Rat.
Brendan Brady It doesn't get any better than Wharf Rat my man
Simply amazing. I'd never heard this before. BTW....happy 65th birthday Bruce.

+Bill McKain Thanks for the tip. Great song and all that is missing in this is Jerry himself. Nobody ever played with more heart
Great cover, and here definitely in memory of Jerry, but let's not forget the song was written about Neal.
