All I know is this is very sentimental to me to the time when I 12 years old and my grandfather God rest his soul had a farm 40 some acres in Parke county Indiana. green grass, rich dark soil and acres of horses
i am from Tennessee and have grown up around this kind of music. it expresses emotions that you wouldn't normally get from other styles of music. well done. very nicely done.
The Tillers perform many songs well but, this is my favorite. They're terrific LIVE...don't miss them if they're nearby. Their talent is only exceeded by how nice they are !
Im spanish, from seville in the south. I love this discover this song in a movie and some days try find more of this The armony of the songs are beautifull Maybe one day I can go to ohio
It always amazes me how people can write the words and the music, like this song, both music and words are made for each other, plus this musical group singing this song....sounds like they were made for each other. Amazing !!!!!
Amazing. This performance is one of the BEST songs I've ever heard. I wish I had this version on a CD. Heck, I'd finally breakdown and get music from iTunes if I thought this would be on there
The Tillers will be playing at the Whispering Beard Festival which runs August 23,24,25, 2013 in Friendship, Indiana, near Cincinnati. The wood fired pizza that will be served there is out of this world too!
I am in no way associated with this band. I've seen them play a handful of times, and they are great people. I really love this version of this song, and put it on youtube for others to enjoy.
The fiddle comes in at 3:30. I like that, I feel like it's more emotional. We get to focus on the emotion in their vocals and that beautiful guitar work, and then the swell of notes from the fiddle to round it out. Such a moving rendition, really the best.
I wish, I wish my baby was born And sitting on its papa's knee And me, poor girl And me, poor girl, were dead and gone And the green grass growing o'er my feet I ain't ahead, nor never will be Till the sweet apple grows On a sour apple tree But still I hope, But still I hope the time will come When you and I shall be as one I wish, I wish my love had died And sent his soul to wander free Then we might meet where ravens fly Let our poor bodies rest in peace The owl, the owl Is a lonely bird It chills my heart With dread and terror That someone's blood There on his wing That someone's blood There on his feathers. I wish, I wish but it's all in vainI wish I was a maid again; But a maid again I never shall beTill apples grow on an orange tree.I wish my baby it was bornAnd laughin' on it's Daddy's kneeAnd I was there in my graveWith the green grass growing over me.

I’m from Wasaga Beach, Canada. I love this music. FREEDOM!!! For both Canadians, and Americans that fight for their freedom, and against tyranny.

Good job, guys -- but you need the fiddle. The fiddle makes this song; it's the fiddle that makes you cry
Brian Stark oh man.... yeah... just simply couldn't agree more. this is like a happier tune version and the original just makes you weep it's so deep
