- This is my first time having a full flight on my sub 70 .
I have amazing tuition from one of the best pilots around ( my dad )
we started off with some bunny hops down the field until i felt confident enough to fully take off . at first it was scary but after a few flights i calmed down and got to grips with it .
I highly recommend NOT to try this without the proper training .
Hold my cigarette, while I help you refuel.
OK!
Great flight. Fun to watch different aircraft.
well done, glad you enjoyed it... good teacher.. 😁😎
always keep some power in on the snake when landing, I owned one and they will mush, power is your friend.... oh and flare and hold off the landings but you probably know that, have fun n fly safe.
I've gotten used to it now 👍 I love landings it's takeoffs that I'm more scared of for some reason 🤷 . But the more I fly the better it all feels 😃 enjoying it thanks
Glad you made it down safely a few times. Listening to your engine..sounds like your low jet is too lean. Safe flying 👍
I've had someone tweak my engine since and it runs really nice now 👍 I think that's possibly why my engine would cut on the landing . Thanks for the advice 😃
Nice work 👍. Especially dealing with the engine out that early in your flying. My Sub 70 has a Polini Thor 130. When I got it and for the first 5 hours it ran rough as guts. I found later that the factory sets the new engines very rich so they don't overheat on running in. With a lot of help from a guy that helped design my Sub 70 we went two jet sizes down and changed the float needle and height. Now it is smooth as glass and I've done some 75 to 100km trips in it. It also uses 5 liters an hour down from 8! Good luck with your future flying 😎👍
Cheers dude 😀 yeah it's scary for a first flight . I've got another video coming very soon .. we fly out over York and surrounding areas . I'm feeling much more confident now 👍 absolutely loving it
keep youre fu##ING FOOT DOWN ,,, great vid ,,, best teacher ,,,
Good Video and congrats. Remember speed is Life !
Wow you are really a good learner, you learned so fast , Nice man
Hi Chris I see you have ace aviation
I bought mine some years ago from
john Riley also same wing nice fella doesn't sell them anymore out at little staughton bedford
How long you had yours and where you purchased it from.
You learnt fast
I started out foot launch hang gliding then went over to sub70 when they relaxed the law on flying
I have third party insurance with AXA for the sub70
Didn't take power rating with bhpa so not insured on the bhpa insurance
Who did you find to insure yours
Many thanks
Chris
Hope you have many happy years flying🛩️
Hey dude 👋
The trike and wing were my dad's before he upgraded to the microlite fly and puma wing .
So I'm not sure . I know he bought it from a guy and he's been flying it for a few years now .
I have a good teacher 😃
You might know my dad Colin Rider then if you flew hang gliders . He flew for a long time before I was born and before he had sub 70 👍
I use AXA too and I love that we are able to fly under relaxed laws but I encourage anyone that's learning to do lessons before trying to fly as it makes it safer for everyone dosent it 👍 I was just very lucky to have people around me to teach me and I have had many years of studying too .
Thanks for the kind words Chris and I'll definitely enjoy many years of flying it's a great feeling 😃
Ah man, got my first lesson on Saturday can’t wait. Norfolk based too, looks beautiful
Is this your first flight? Any lessons before?
This is my first ever flight after doing bunny hops down the field .
I've had years worth of lessons as my dad's been flying a long long time . So I've got alot of knowledge of flying . And I've been up duel for a couple of flights . But never flown alone before until now 👍
I hated the two seat trikes, they look the same but are heavy to control and have torque effects from the big engine, I thought I'd wasted my money... Then I flew my single seat Sub 70, it dances through the air with light control inputs. Watching Golf foxtrot 22 TH-cam's on landings helped me heaps. Good luck, enjoy 😎👍
It's definitely an amazing feeling isn't it 👌
I watched all of Giles videos before flying . He explains it very well and it does help 👍
Landed at elvington runway yesterday too that was epic 👍 you just feel so tiny in a sub 70 on a massive runway
@@christhatclimbs I like Giles channel. I love watching you folks fly over the fields in the UK. It’s much more interesting to me than the prairies of the US. Where are you located?
I hate to say it but you seemed out of control most of that first flight, be careful don't stall.
I have Touch wing with Magic trike fitted with Simonini mini 3 , it fly so nice, i love it.
Amazing
Hi Chris
Did you find yourself over-controlling on that first flight?
It looked a tad erratic in roll.
Just finished building a Sub70kg... I'm expecting my first flight to be a tad hairy :)
When I took off for the first time I was trying to control with my feet .. obviously not going to work . But I soon realised and took full control. When I did it was all absolutely amazing 👍 so yeah it was erratic at first . But that's what I love for .. adrenaline is life 😃

Haha!
Not me these days, I prefer a chilled meander of sight seeing and maybe a camp out on a beach (thousands of hours paragliding and paramotoring)
I have done some high speed taxiing and popped the front wheel off with the trike but the fear has got the better of me so far.
Got to crack it at some point... I am too old to foot launch a paramotor these days!
Bunny hops are an advanced maneuver. I'm glad you didn't stuff it. Did you do any training in a two seater?
I'm a fast learner I guess 👍 my bunnyhops are spot on .
My first landing with an engine out was worse than the bunnyhops . But I'm happy with my landings now .
I've been up for a few flights in a two seater yes . But flying sub 70 feels much different as landings and takeoffs are much slower than in the quik . So I feel like it's not a great comparison.
@@christhatclimbs Nice. Beautiful field to fly out of.
Lucky!
