This sound of opm bands have started in the 90. If you could take time out for this series you might want to check out mid 90's to early 2000's opm band and alternative music that really dominated the airwaves. The closest that I can think of is orange and lemons. Of course if you want to taste real original opm singers you might want to start with eraser heads, Side A, True colors, mymp, etc. For single female acts we have Nina, Barbie Armaldes, Kitchie Nadal and so many more. I hope you can unearth their under rated talent during their time.😊❤

IV of Spade kind of off or is in hiatus, idk if there is beef but there are some issue before but idk what it is. for a moment they really rise up and became really popular and Thier song like Mundo became a hit and bcs of their style as a band. This band has a lot of opportunities after this song become popular and a hit! But sadly one of the member which is one of main vocalist left (Unique Salonga), And since Unique left, The band career did not really rise up, thou remaining three members went on as a trio, and tbh, the band kinda laylow- before announcing mid-2020 that they would go on an indefinite hiatus.
They were at the pick of their career that time. Hope for a comeback thou!

Alamat is known for a no skip discography group because of their amazing songs that they released up to now.I love their branding and they’re the first that comes to mind if you think of a group representing the filipino culture, languages and filipino instruments the most.Every time I watch their modernized traditional dances and outfits on their music video,I feel pride on every move that they make and realizing that we truly have a very beautiful and highly diverse culture.
Thanks for taking the time to react to Alamat!Hoping for more videos to come in the future😌

wide eyed, open jaw then misty eyes very normal reaction everytime someone reacts to Mori's performance. ALSO, right after the whistle she belted and did not take a breath for 18-20 seconds holding that high note. truly amazing

Hahaha she does smile when she sings. It’s probably a combination of feeling that emotion as well as needing her mouth placement to be a specific way when doing certain notes. Smiling when you sing also makes the song sound different. More sweet 🥰

Alamat is a rising PPOP group. You may want to watch their new song Dagundong which is 🔥. They embody Filipino culture thru their style and music and even their name Alamat which is very Filipino. I’m an A’tin but I stan this group next to SB19 ❤ OPM is very underated internationally but deserves to be known and appreciated. If they can only try to listen and dive into our music, I’m sure they’ll be amazed too. This is the main goal of SB19 which they’re slowly achieving. 🇵🇭 Thank you for supporting OPM, I love your reaction vids esp with SB19 💙

Alamat is super diverse group they sing and rap in different filipino languages I think they have tried singing in 9 different languages before in one song because they used to be 9 member group but 3 other guys left. But they still sing in different languages maybe 6 or 8?
all of their MV is full of history about filipino culture and they are my 2nd fave Ppop group aside from SB19 Hope you can check some of their MV and Performances they are indeed Unique.

@@melaniereactsIf I'm not mistaken, 3 in the SB19 group are fans of Morissette Amon. Sure Stell, he's his idol. He watches the video, it's on youtube, where he takes a selfie with her and immediately after jumps from happiness like a child. Morissette amon, she has a championship of her own, she can't participate with the others, she always wins. "There's Morissette!!!! So we lost right from the start." 😂

She was invited to perform on the Asia Song Festival 2017 and 2018 in South Korea. That's where the Hanguk people started to take notice of her especially when she sang a Korean song. They were blown away. It's also the first time that they invited an artist back to back. She's supposed to on the 2019 edition but she already has another plans on the supposed date. The chinese are also starting to take notice of her. Before the Pandemic hit she's supposed to be invited to a Chinese singing contest where Jessie J and Dimash were a part of.

Finally, you reacted to ALAMAT. Thank you so much! Maharani is a great start to dive into their flawless discography. It's their most popular song and just won Best R&B Recording.
For some info, ALAMAT is a Filipino sing-rap-dance group that combines both traditional and modern Philippine cultural elements with Western/global influences in the various facets of their music, including dance, fashion, and iconography.
From the name of their group, to the use of local languages in their lyrics and their heritage-filled aesthetics, Alamat promises to offer to audiences a proudly and uniquely Filipino experience that both entertains and boosts national pride.
The members of Alamat come from different parts of the country: Taneo from Kalinga, Mo from Zambales, Jao from Pampanga, R-Ji from Eastern Samar, Tomas from Albay, and Alas from Davao City. Hence, the lyrics of Alamat's songs tend to be multilingual, as the group also aims to normalize the use of regional languages in mainstream music.
Looking forward to more reactions about them. I swear, you will not be disappointed especially their vocals that slay different genres. 😄

Re alamat: they are currently the only multilingual sing dance rap boy group who sings in several genres mostly pop & rnb leaning - they sing in at least 7 local languages in most of their songs. They are quite known in the ppop community as the group having a no skip discography.
Btw, Maharani has been recently awarded as the best RnB track in the Philippines.
For a full feel of their abilities/range/genre, please see their ILY ILY wishbus performance. I could assure you that you'd be surprised.
They also recently released an LP called IsaPuso ^_^

IV of Spades is phenomenal! - They have really unique songs and sound. Too bad they don't do music together anymore. But they have individual songs too! (Which are really good as well!)
Ben&Ben - this band really took off and has been in the mainstream for quite some time. One of main reason is their sound, they're really a BAND. Their songs are really soulful too.
Morisette - has been a household name and has represented PH internationally. I mean, those belts are no joke. He was discovered in The Voice :)

Thank you for reacting to Alamat, I hope you can check out their latest comeback MV entitled “DAGUNDONG” from their 1st LP “ISAPUSO”
Alamat is the first (and probably, the only) Filipino act that sings in several Filipino languages, since the group has members from different parts of Philippines. Everything about their branding (from their music, outfits, mv) are about Philippine culture, tradition, and history. Like their latest mv, DAGUNDONG for example, it’s a song about the 300+ years of Spaniards colonization in the Philippines. So I hope you can check more of them.

24:53 this is the exact reason why we requested this song, just to see your reaction in this part 😂
For the translation of the title, sometimes it depends on the context. In this song, she is praying and pleading for someone to be hers, that's why 'Akin ka na lang' can also be understood as 'Please be mine' when translated to english. Thanks for the reaction Melanie!

I honestly no nothing about opm music and have just been learning about it thru ur videos. But that Ben and Ben video literally brightened my day. The energy in that room was so beautiful and it made me tear up. It reminded me of how i felt when watching One Ok Rock "We Are" with all the students singing together. Just overwheming connection between people thru music and i think it is the opitime of the saying music is universal. U dont need to understand it to feel the message and energy

Not sure if someone already noted this, but you did mention an interest in the language. The "Akin ka nalang" being translated to "please be mine" isn't so much a word thing than it is a usage thing, specifically for "na lang/nalang". It's a word to invoke a second choice, if that makes sense. The nuance in the song title would be, well you're someone else's now, but please be mine instead.
"Akin nalang", directly translated would be "just mine", but the natural translation would be "Can I have it?"
"Akin nalang itong (this) kape (coffee)." would be "Can I have this coffee?" (It's yours or someone else's, but it's just sitting there so can I have it?)
"Bukas (tomorrow) nalang." would be "Can we do it tomorrow instead?"

  • @Migs0313
    @Migs0313 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

"Lang" doesn't wholly mean "only" it can also mean "just" in a form of making a request (eg. Just help yourself, Just say yes, etc.). In this context "Akin ka na lang" literally translate to "Just be mine", therefore it can also mean "Please be mine" to make it softer and endearing or romantic or whatever you want to call it.
Ps.: anyone feel free to comment if you have other easier explanation. 😊
