Very bright and cheerful pictures of Dubrovnik. I cannot guess the country you are going to. That is exciting! Maybe - Montenegro, Cyprus, Malta or Bosna y Herzegovina?!. If you’re flying out of Toronto, and it’s 7 hours overnight…that puts you in Ireland or Portugal. Usually, long flights from there fly to the East otherwise you’d go more west in Canada to go that way. Plus another 3 hour flight, might put you in Belgium or Germany.

  • @vaultkeeper2
    @vaultkeeper2 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Croatia is now, save for Monaco, the most expensive country at the entire Mediterranean. It is more expensive than Spain, Italy, Malta, Greece and yes, even southern France. I was in Nice last year, and, believe it or not, it is now cheaper than the coast of Dalmatia. Which is kind of crazy considering that the people of Croatia including those in Dalmatia has relatively low incomes.

    That was a huge lot of travel, I could feel your tiredness. Love it when you show the journey to destinations. Some great travel tips as well. Nothing worse than getting to a gate, thinking you have plenty of time and you have to go through more security checks. Dubrovnik looks amazing. I guess it would be safe to say you are going to another country within the Balkans. So looking forward to see which country you are travelling to. Can’t wait for the next next video! ❤❤❤

  • @Ojstra
    @Ojstra 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    If I link informations from Gabriel in last videos - small country, outside the Schengen Area, only briefly visited by him previously and a bus drive from Dubrovnik - it is almost certainly Montenegro, amazing but often overlooked country, the most diverse Ex-Yugoslav country along with Slovenia. First stop is either Kotor or Herceg Novi, I believe. He has been to Kotor, Budva and Ulcinj last and until this day his only time but it is much more to see, I am looking forward to next videos.
    And one interesting fact - the Bay of Kotor looks like a fjord but strictly geographically it is ria as this was earlier a river valley of Bokelj River and was later flooded by sea. For a fjord, it must be a U-shaped valley (also called glacial trough), formed by the process of glaciation, that was flooded by sea, as is common in Norway.

    387 USD isn't cheap. Sometimes you could fly to Dublin from Toronto for as low as 200 USD. You could probably save another 20 to 30 bucks if you purchase food from outside of the airport and avoid the airport express train (will take you an extra half an hour on the road).
    And 175 USD from Dublin to Dubrovnik is freaking expensive. It should be less than 100 USD. It can be less than 50 USD if you book in advance.
    Your final destination could be either Bosnia or Montenegro, which are kind of similar to Croatia, but Bosnia is much cheaper for sure, it's probably the cheapest ex-Yugoslavia country. I recommend going further east to Albania after checking out ex-Yugoslavia countries, the people there are much friendlier than the ex-Yugoslavians (especially Montenegrins), and it is one of the cheapest costal European countries. Good food too. Definitely worth a visit.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I've been to Albania twice: www.youtube.com/@GabrielTravelerVideos/search?query=Albania The airport express train was pretty cheap, worth it for the quicker and more comfy ride. Eating in the airport is part of the experience for me, get some good hot food and kill some time. Bringing something from outside wouldn't be nearly as tasty and wouldn't be hot. Very true about the flights, you can certainly find cheaper but as you said, it often requires booking in advance, which doesn't fit my travel style. I checked tons of flight options for getting to my final destination and this was the cheapest and best way to go. It's peak season right now so everything is more expensive.

    I was on 28 Bus passing by Golden Gate Bridge and saw tourists trying to tap the Clipper reader with their tap and bay, but Bay Area transit is not that advanced. Headed to Pier 27 for cruise to Ketchikan Inside Passage on Princess. It’s a bit Møre comfortable than my usual trips on Turkish to the Balkans. Learned all about Schengen during Covid as their testing rules led me to stay away.

    Wikipedia: Lokrum (pronounced [lɔ̌krum], Italian: Lacroma) is an island in the Adriatic Sea 600 metres (1,969 feet) from the city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. It stretches from northwest to southeast and receives regular ferry service from the Old City port.
    Austrian archduke (and short-lived Emperor of Mexico) Maximilian once had a holiday home on the island. A monastery and a botanical garden survive from his era. On the island's highest point at 96 metres (315 feet) above sea level stands Fort Royal Castle, which was built by the French during Napoleon's occupation of Croatia, though it was later named "Maximilian's Tower" by the Austrians.

      @@nielfitzwell234 Yeah, it's been a while since one crashed, seems like they fixed the problem. Any way you look at it flying is ridiculously safe. Driving in a car is much more dangerous, thousands of accidents every day. Only a few plane crashes per year.
