    I picked up my 2016 for 3,000 with 63 miles on it last year. I have added a Clark 4+ gallon tank, two inch Rox bar risers, heated grips, 15 tooth counter shaft sprocket, led headlight, IMS foot pegs, LiFePo battery, rear rack, and bark busters with hand guards. I’ve seen an indicated 80 while in a full tucked in crouch. I’m really enjoying tooling around town as well as trails and forest roads. I feel like I got a great little bike at a great price.

      Just curious, Earl, if you don’t mind me asking, how tall are you and how much do you weigh (just ball park)? I’m 6’2 ~260 and I’m worried about top speed. I don’t have plans for highway riding, probably just ~55 mph back roads, but of course everybody wants to go 10 over and I definitely don’t want to get run over because of that, haha. And I agree, you got an absolute steal on that one. I see mostly stock, mid ‘00 bikes with 5-10k+ miles going for damn near MSRP in my neck of the woods.

      Drop the rear sprocket from 50 teeth to 44 teeth and it will make it far more streetable for you while still being a great offroad trail bike. Also ditch the plain drive chain and install an O-Ring or X-Ring chain, the stock chain is basically an un-lubed bicycle chain.

I can’t have both feet flat on the ground but I still feel comfortable stopping. I mostly commute in mid size city to work less than 12 miles total. There are some trails I plan to hit next year. I rode a Honda 50 then 125 as a kid and loved it. I was looking for something similar and found it for my first bike as an adult (in my 40’s). I couldn’t be happier with the TDubs.

      @hurt1704  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I’d definitely go with the TW over the klx230. However, the klx 300 would be nice. It just depends on your needs. Keep in mind the TW will have much better resale value in case you want to turn it in a few years.

  • @jmason61
    @jmason61 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Excellent & THX for the 2nd review... here's a big question - for putting around in the suburbs (& maybe hitting a dirt trail a bit) do you like other small bikes that are available & not crazy trendy = I can actually find one to buy?

    • @hurt1704
      @hurt1704  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The yamaha xt250 would make an awesome bike. That would probably be my next choice that was similar to a TW. I guess you could also steer more towards a Honda trail 125? Not sure how small you are considering going cc wise. Thanks for watching!

    • @Imightberiding
      @Imightberiding ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Forgive me for butting in. Hurt 1's advice above is very good on the xt250 but I suspect the Honda Trail might fall short of your street/commuting expectations & wouldn't really suit your needs or application. A Honda Cub 125 although not a trail bike can handle some off-road situations & is far more comfortable & capable on the street. The Honda Trail is a very specific, slow but excellent off-road trail bike for a particular need (ie: hunting or slow adventures off-road, farm work, or camping but not very good for the street).
      I would suggest after the Yamaha xt250 (if you can't find it) a Kawasaki KLX250 or 300 is an excellent choice. Or maybe for a bit more $, a Honda CRF250L or CRF300L Rally. You could even get a 125cc, 155cc or 300cc Scooter if you're secure enough in your manhood. Yamaha Yuma/BWS 125, Yamaha SMAX 155, Yamaha XMAX 300, Honda PCX 150/155/160, Honda ADV 150/155, Honda ADV 350 (330cc) or Vespa 155, 200, 250 or 300 Scooter & have heaps of fun on one of these.
      Believe it or not, the Yamaha BWS/Yuma 125cc & the Honda ADV 150/155cc or 350cc (actually 330cc) scooters are actually made & much more suited for mild off-road riding as well as the street. The other options are more suited for the street or perhaps relatively smooth gravel or dirt roads. I love my Vespas though. They pretty much go anywhere. Check some videos on TH-cam about dudes riding around the world on Vespas or Honda Cubs. Good luck in your search. This is from an old dude who has owned almost all the above bikes (except the KLX300, CRF300L Rally or Honda ADV 350) & countless others over the past 45 yrs. The TW200 is a fantastic bike (equally great for around town or on the trails) & hard to beat if you're not concerned with going real fast (50-55 MPH realistically) but you can't go wrong with any of the smaller 250cc or 300cc Yamaha, Kawasaki or Honda Enduros/Dual Sports. Cheers.

    • @jmason61
      @jmason61 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Imightberiding excellent info & thx... still looking more towards the dual sport design vs the others Cheers back to you

    • @Imightberiding
      @Imightberiding ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jmason61 I'm glad you saw my comment. Didn't mean to take over the conversation. Just wanted to offer you some more options & advice from an old rider with miles & years of experience.
      Have at it dude. Good choice. A dual sport can do pretty much anything on & off road & bring a big smile to your face & lower stress levels. The little 125's are heaps of fun but it won't be long before you'll be wanting a little more grunt, speed & capability.
      Yamaha, Kawasaki or Honda; you can't go wrong with the welterweight 250's or 300's. They are a perfect balance between the lightweight 125's & the middle weight 450-650's. You will find that a 250-300 will bring you years of use & even as an experienced rider, you won't grow out of them.
      Hurt 1 uploaded a good & useful video along with some good observations & advice. Whatever you choose, ride safe & have fun!
      *Edit: Look for & consider a good used bike in decent condition as an option. Properly maintained, 50 000 or more miles is nothing on these engines & bikes if they are not molested or abused. Refrain from performance mods if you can. At least for the first couple years. The engineers for these manufacturers know what they're doing & your bike will hold its resale value far more if it isn't modded. Also, don't be afraid of carburetors. Motor cycles are not like cars & you will most certainly not even notice any difference in performance or reliability if it isn't fuel injected. Cheers.

    • @MuktiLuv
      @MuktiLuv 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      xt250 is a good advise, but i would wait for a Tdub, that bike is just too nice, you can mod it too, or even put an xt250 motor in it directly.
      get an older model too, it's the same bike since 1987, carbu is still better than EFI, and discs are overratted in my opinion.
      those bikes are tanks, i literally crashed with a car, destroyed his left side while the Tdub didnt had a scratch and didnt even stop... lol
      import if you can, im in thailand and there's literally 20 for sale around-ish my house.

    yup sometimes I wish it had that 6th gear and could go 60 or 65 all day but honestly she keeps me humble. I ride alone off road a lot and this bike keeps me out of trouble haha. You aren't gonna be flying up steep hills and jumping stuff. You aren't gonna go 35 down single track lol but it will get you just about anywhere, only had a couple hills I couldnt do cause it's so hard to keep momentum on the TW. second gear is just a little too tall and first is a little too short for really steep, loose sand and rocky hills BUT if you can maintain traction first gear will climb a damn tree.

      Appreciate the feedback. Just had to keep it honest for viewers because it’s not All good like many rave about. Overal it’s good, but not for everyone

      @@hurt1704 you should not argue with the ravers as I am one cuz the reason we rave is cuz there is no bike better for us..the practical people..
      most bike enthusiasts have bikes that can jump 65ft.or go 300km an hour..
      I will guess about .001% of the enthusiasts have the ability to perform at 10% of there bikes abilities..
      I feel you picked on "us" ravers but will acknowledge your 1 point

      @@nikk_nobody ohh no, I have another video raving on the bike. This video was just why it might not be for certain people.

      there's a reason why there's a TW forum with 22,000 peoples talking Tdubs all the time... best bike ever made i completely agree...

    great, now make a video "Top 250 reasons the TW200 might be for you" ;-)
    200cc - mod it, 250cc, wiseco piston, higher compression, will reach 140kph, fit a tubo even if you want.
    nobody should need or want ABS
    size... im 6'2"... could be smaller.
    suspension... thats a dual sport, nobody think it's cross, or mod it.
    im in thailand, saw 9 peoples on one...
    my take: best all-round bike ever made, didnt change since 1987 for a reason.
    (by the way if you rode that bike with the ridiculous 14/50T stock gearing, change that... thats a different bike)

      and what do you ride normally if i might ask..?
      unless you're an hayabusa guy, yours might have been broken or set like garbage... not a speed monster sure, but it still punches.
