      Im gunna post both my xr400s for sale this weekend and hopefully pick up one of these bad boys soon. See a lot new locally for cheaper then used. Look so much fun, like a big kids pit bike. Romp around with cruddy suspension like Steve McQueen once did haha

    I had an XT 250 Yamaha Great bike . I wish they would have put a 6 speed transmission in it. The XT 250 got great gas milage would do 77 mph down hill . started first time every time. I rode it up Opher Pass in Telluride Co. and back down. You could haul your camping gear rifle etc. GREAT BIKE.

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Charlie! Thanks for watching and for the comment. Did you run stock gearing on your XT the whole time you had it? I have thought about one but with the 15-48 gearing over the TW's 14-50 I didn't know how it would do on trails or hills like that, especially with gear or a passenger. Thanks for the insight!

    Love the TW, just wish Yamaha updated it just a bit. Make it 250 or 300cc fuel injected, modern gauges and led lamps.
    The Fuel injection will help it to start at different altitudes, temperatures and make it more fuel efficient.
    Larger engine will help to propel it on country roads and keep it's low end torque.
    LEDs will help to keep the voltage draw low and better lighting at night in trails.
    If they keep it like this (no change since 1986) they can ask for a lower price than what they are asking.
    I still think it's the best trail bike out there for the price.
    Low tech, easy to fix, parts that have been out there since 1986.
    Does it need an modern update?
    What you guys think?

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We love the TW too! I have a hard time with the fuel injection topic and the TW. Right now, It is more fuel efficient that the XT250 which has fuel injection. It gets 75 mpg as it sits. With bringing all the electronics to the bike, that just opens the door for more to go wrong which takes away from the simplicity of the TW which a lot of people love. I don't have anything against EFI, I know that most emission regs require it. However, my son and I went for a ride Saturday morning and it was 25° F so -4° C and the bike started fine. We then went to 7,000ft elev. and watched the sunrise and it was colder up there. Using the choke the bike fired up fine and we came back home.
      I do agree with the LED upgrades since they produce better visibility and require less draw. I might even agree with the bigger engine which I know a lot of folks would love to see. I think it could benefit from slight modern touches, but not too much. I know my Father-in-Law would like it come in a 350cc and 6-speed and he says it would then be the perfect bike. But, I'm still gonna keep riding these ones and if a new model comes out with some upgrades, depending on what they are, I will still buy them!
      Thanks for the great comment!

    • @sleevescore
      @sleevescore 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuel injection isn't more efficient than a choke, it just does the choking for you, but if you know what you're doing they'll start the same. On one hand the carb is a pain in the ass in the mountains, on the other hand, if the battery is dead your fuel injector won't work, but the carb will still spit fuel and the spark will run off the magneto.
      -- That is if you have a kickstart, I always forget the new ones removed it for some unfathomable reason. I might buy a new TW at some point but will make sure I have the kickstart kit available first. I ride below freezing temps where more lithium batteries die overnight, so modern electrics would ruin the bike for me - and almost already have, since they've gone electric start only. Lucky the kick kit is only $200 and afterwards you can rip out all the signals, gauges, etc. and just run a headlight and condenser if you want.

    Makes me angry we don't have this in stores here in Sweden. I mean we have farm land, wood land and all sorts of terrain, we NEED this bike here! And I want one!
    I gather it's because of the carburetor, but then Yamaha could make it with fuel injection.

    I hate bringing this up, but price? My local dealer wants $4800 for the TW200 plus $1000 for freight and dealer prep. That brings it to $5800 plus $580 tax = $6300 plus T&L. They would have to order it like your FIL. Does that sound about right? Or is my local dealer a crook?

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bobby!! Great question and don't worry about bringing it up! I paid $5,500 OTD for my 2021 TW200. Dealers have paperwork that has to be done, licensing whether it is street or dirt and with the cost of fuel right now delivery is fling to be a bit more as well. That doesn't sound bad at all actually and it is a lot less than I have been hearing from some other folks. NOT TO MENTION some.folks selling their used bikes for that much! I'd think you're doing OK with that price.

It would be impossible to swing my leg up and over the backrest, but there is a super easy workaround, step up with your left foot on the foot peg, that made it easy for me to swing my leg up and over. Hi guys, from up here in western Canada. Im 70 and I have an '87 with around 24,000 miles and a 2018 I just picked up with 300 miles. The original owner bought it new in 2018 for his wife and she didn't want it so just drove it a little that year. The '87 does exactly the same job except the disc brake is nice and things are a little tighter. Remember the old saying, "if it aint broke, don't fix it"? How many things can you buy these days that are pretty much the same as over 30 years ago and still dependable? The Tw's are really amazing bikes. They aren't astounding or magical...just consistent. Fun for all ages, a joy to go for a ride and muscle it around bit or just take in the scenery. I don't fight the bike, it and I make a team. I ride year round, I go up in the mountains night with some high power LED I put on and just enjoy the solitude. If they were just a 225cc they would be that much better but I'm not complaining, Im in no rush anyway and Im finished with the big highways any way. So a knee replaced two years ago and heart attack in April. The TW Dubs are nursing me through it all. lol Ive had over 60 bikes and these are my favourite all around keepers.

    In 1987 I was bike shopping for a Dual Sport. I checked out the Honda Reflex (a street legal Trials bike), the TW200 and a XT (No XLs in the area then). I put over 4 thousand miles on my TW and traded it for an XT600. A decision which I regret to this day. No bike ever gave me more smiles per mile than the TW. I used to get pulled over by cops who just thought it was cool and just wanted a closer look. In 1987 it had the fattest legal tire on the road. Loved the reusable (cleanable) oil filter. I did replace the rear fender with a homemade alum plate that held the taillight and license plate (too many wheelies LOL). I don't think anyone regrets a TW and glad to see it finally got a disc brake! Your 4th! Proof that the TW is a WINNER!

      Thanks for watching! I love this bike and it has been a great purchase. What country are you in? We've had a few folk lately tell us that the TW isn't available for them either.

    Would y’all recommend this bike for a newbie? I’m thinking about getting this exact one for on and off road. So far this model is at the top of the list.

      Hey Raenelle! I think it is a great starter bike to introduce you to the dirt and the street. It is really welcoming, low seat height, low geared, great mileage and just flat out fun. I'd recommend it all day long.

    Problem I had riding all my nieces and nephews on my dirt bikes is they kept falling asleep in front of me.. Perfect family bike however.
    I retired 3 years ago and my WR450F is getting way too much for this old man to hang onto- hence watching your video.
    Thanks

      I have had that happen as well!! Luckily they haven't fallen off yet! 😂 These are awesome for just cruising around and getting out and about. It's a great bike.

    How often do you hear bike owners talking bout 50-100K life spans on ANY model!

      Not that often really, but I have 50k on my HD FatBoy! Plus, I am planning on putting a lot more on all my bikes.

    Although I had the XT250, it was an '81 and seems to have much more in common with the TW. I loved that bike and wish I never sold it. Congratulations are getting a new one, despite the wait.

      Hey Sean! Thanks for watching and for the comment! He did regret selling the Tdub and getting the KLR. That's why he wanted to finish out with the TW. It's gonna be some good rides from here on out for sure! Thanks again!

      Thanks Stock Junkee! I am glad you liked it. There is always time to get a TW! They are worth it and I haven't regretted it yet.

    Nice video, I have 6 bikes in the garage but if i could keep only 1 it would be the TW

      Thanks Daniel! I've got 6 bikes in the garage as well. Luckily two of them are TW's! Thanks for watching and for the comment. I agree with you, I don't think these TW's are going anywhere!

    Glad to finally see someone else who sees the value in CycleRacks brand racks by far best choice I made on my Honda 250 Rally

      Hey Mr. Wildwood thanks for the comment! Yeah, he's had the Cycleracks on all of his TW's and even had these ones ordered and delivered way before the TW ever came in at the dealership! He's the one that introduced me to them and I am glad he did. Thanks for watching!
