So is this aesthetic about to explode back into popularity? I keep seeing newer videos of it ever since that undefined video. Well, it does make sense considering the people who grew up with this in the 2000s are teenagers-adults. Perfect for nostalgia to bring back trends. This about to be fun.
tbh i disagree. dont get me wrong, im just as nostalgic for this style as the rest of the early 2000s kids but like.. from a design standpoint its waayy too clunky and dated. id cringe if i saw corporations trying to unironically bring it back. (not saying the current overly-minimalist style is any better, though. the foxless firefox logo has me crying myself to sleep)
That's it. That's it. I need the aesthetic again in my life, im gonna crop and save in a box every single Frutiger Aero image i can find among my old stuff irl and re-theme my phone with old icons. That's. It.
We have jumped from vaporwave aesthetics to frutiger aero and I'm loving it. It's like jumping in a time machine. Gone from being a kid to young teen years. Never heard that frutiger aero was a thing untill this week. I love it and feel thr vibes. God I miss this era so much.
i think Frutiger Aero is the middle ground between the surrealness of Vaporwave and the flatness of the icon styles that are commonplace with modern devices now. it has vast environments that pop out and feel 3D but in a unique and strange way like Vapourwave, yet it has the technological sheen. it has a glassy artificial feeling not too far from the technological flatness of our world. what makes Frutiger Aero different though is how it establishes a connection with the real world, as if 90s Vapourwave and 2010s Minimalism got meshed together and now exists as a glassy rounded object laying in a patch of wet green grass that you can touch and feel just by looking at it. Frutiger Aero is a 2000s kid's Vapourwave. also, seeing the old TH-cam layout with that music made me really miss 2009-2013...
Charming. I do remember mid end late 2000's eclectic kinds of styles in many fields: games, advertisements, animations, user interfaces, web services... All they looked like owners of that things wanted people feel like it's fun to use their product. And in some cases make them thinking they use some professional tools by making kind of realistic looked-like parts of interfaces using shadows, reflections, glares, textures and so on. In contrast to what we have now I would thinks that it also referred to what kind of world we had that time. It was developing, friendly in most cases, not yet afraid to experiment with design, media and in other parts of entertainment industry. You may also remember how many comedy moveis were released that time. Today this genre is almost vanished. By the way I still have the first Galaxy S i9000 working smartphone which has Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS. I suppose that its version of Touchwiz was pretty neat and clear to use. I still like those smooth animations in stock 3D gallery, squared icons with different background styles, bright sound effects and even settings menus. That was a time... Of course the progress must go on but I think that in some future we will see again this positive frutiger designs which will bright up our society again. P.S. also nice to see one of my favorite game, Mirror's Edge. I liked it and also like the Catalyst one. It chills me a lot and it's a good time killer for me to roam in Glass City.
Since vaporwave/synthwave uses 80's/90's anime style, it would be logical that Frutiger Aero-wave would likely use early 00's anime styles. I also noticed that in the 2000s had an urban aestethic, with games like GTA 3, GTA 4, Def Jam, 50 Cent games, Marc Ecko's Getting Up, Midnight Club, Need for Speed, EA BIG Games, etc... And stuff like hip hop, reggaeton, Pimp my Ride, Scion, Volcon, Ecko, IPods, Windows XP/Vista/7, etc, etc, etc... I don't know what to write, so I conclude here.
So I don’t want this exact style back. I honestly don’t think this much detail would look good in 4K, but was great and making things stand out in low resolution. It tricked you into thinking there was “personality” in the software. We have the opposite problem now where the software is packed with features but the interface is lifeless. what I am enjoying is how Apple and Samsung have kind of tweaked the current flat designs to give them some slight skeuomorphism, clearly taking inspiration from earlier designs. I do feel really nostalgic for my early teenage years from 2006-2009. The world had this sense of hope that things were about to get better after the craziness of 2001-2005.
is it just me or does this general design philosophy just better represent natural human ideals and aesthetic appeal? Like hear me out - humans are drawn to juicy, colorful, tactile and detailed objects as a product of evolution. (think ripe fruit, blue skies, vibrant greenery, water, human eyes, or even jewels and gems which are more so a product of society and commerce.) Now tell me - where is the appeal in the stark, flat, detail-less, monochromatic interfaces that have overtaken every facet of technology and marketing? Why has it all become so soulless and utilitarian? I just miss when the scroll bar on my browser looked like a squishy translucent gel tube. :)
that's right!!! finally an aesthetic that I can relate to and that really makes me nostalgic! Sorry vaporwaves, but that era has passed, and now it's time for the nostalgia of those who grew up during frutiger aero!
@@the_mariocrafter Ngl I don't mean to say like in into technology stuff if yk in general idk how to explain I just like the overall tech style back in late 00s-early 2013 or 2012 of how things were designed
That Galaxy s3 pic hit different lol. I was born in '90 but still miss this stuff, having been an older teenager in this era. The sleekness of the iPhone et al. was new and exciting, but little did we know that phones would never be "fun" again I have a Wii, Wii U, and Switch with most of the essentials which my wife, kids, and i play almost daily, so I'm pretty set. My wife and i played a crap ton of Wii Sports when we were dating, so that's always going to hold a special place

If you save one more Frutiger Aero image, it'll be the farthest away from minimalism you've ever been.
Show me it
