    Both oil-based and water-based product change as your surroundings change (i.e. humidity, temperature, etc.) but water-based products are also time-dependent. In more simple words, they dry over time which causes shifting and movement between the time you last look in the mirror and walk out. Style your hair about 30 mins before you leave and right before you leave....it should be almost dry, so comb through again and this time, it should last.

    Just a small suggestion! For water based products, it is suggested for oily hair while dry to normal hair, oil based products are fine c: I sadly can't add oil based products because it causes my thin hair to gap and become hard to style. Everyone's hair is different and each products type of ingredients varies to your hair type! Thank you for the vid! Gonna style it up for the hubby! C:

    I agree 100% with you on water-based "pomades" being nothing more than gel. They're just labeled as pomade to target specific customers

    Glad to hear you say that about the pomades. Anyone I ask, they seem to blindly say "no, the water based are just as good". NO. They are not. They get weak, they lose hold. Has to be oil/petro. based. :)

    Try Embalmers Grease and also Steele Toe embalmed is all natural and steel toe is a great heavy gold for fine hair. Also with my fine hair I heat up the pomade with a hair dryer and it make it easier to work through my hair.

      The_Pomp. just a tips, try to use a higher f (aperture) like 3.5 to 5.6 to have a better DOF. cos u see whn u move forward in the video it became blurry like in 03:05 and 03:19. by raising the aperture, the blurry effect will be reduced. jst want to help. cos ur videos are cool and it could be even cooler!

    Hey James! First off, great vid! I have a problem every time I attempt at a pompadour. When I put my product in, usually Royal Crown Pomade (not hair dressing), the front of my pomp forms a lip due to the wavyness of my hair. The front of my hair is down between my eyes and my nose. I don't know what to do! Cheers!

    How long does your hair grow out from a buzz cut? And do you get acne on your scalp due to using oil-based pomades?

    • @ThePomp
      @ThePomp  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it took me 9 months...and you'll only get it if you do a bad job of applying.

    • @DennisCLiu
      @DennisCLiu 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The_Pomp. Thanks. This video has inspired me to grow my hair back into a pomp. Could I ask for some advice? I'm 1 month into a buzz cut and my hair is starting to look like an afro because my hair sticks up and out. What should I do? Should I trim the sides (and risk the sides of the pomp)? *my crown was cut round* Or should I regrow my hair into a desired length of 7-9 in.(and look funny everyday)? Also how should I style my hair right now? Finally, what did you do to your hair when you were 1 month into a buzz cut? Thanks very much.

    • @kamuelacastellano1655
      @kamuelacastellano1655 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dennis C. Liu So your hair sticks up on all sides like an afro? if so just cut the sides and back into a fade or just shave them and push your hair down kind of with water and product

    another question, when you put in pomade and style your hair how many strands of hair (if you were you estimate) fall out?

  • @HandelMcmandle
    @HandelMcmandle 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just an honest opinion, but I wouldn't necessarily say that water based pomades are gels. Gels make your hair look and feel really crusty and dry. Water based pomades actually keep the greasy look and feel in your hair. On another note, nice pomp!

  • @thepaintjobber

    i have bushy thick hair, and after using murrays superior for a couple months, a bit of layrite, and now suavecito firme hold, my hair seems tobe thinning on the top which is where most of the pomade goes. Is itpossible for the pomade to make you lose hair?

    dis be true....i do the same but opposite. i put in tres flores water-based the day i want to degrease. but your way is more logical...murrays never makes contact with you hair. theres a barrier of water-soluble product between the petrol and your hair...it washes off, everything washes off.
