I always go Black. Purely because you find less black soulgems in Skyrim than white gems. Black gems can store human souls. ONLY human souls. You are killing bandits, forsworn barring Hagravens and Briarhearts, and Dark brotherhood targets for a good chunk of the game. White gems store animals and lesser beings (draugr, skeletons, bears, sabercats, skeevers, spiders, dogs, deer, foxes, rabbits, etc), and are plentiful. Black souls, human souls, are always listed as Grand, meaning you get better enchanting results and better recharges for your weapons, and as the Black Star is a permanent inventory item, you will always have it with you even if it's empty, much like the White Phial. Another reason to use the Black one is because no matter which version you pick, it can only hold ONE soul at any given time. I'd rather it be holding a Grand soul, a human soul, for crafting purposes, and I spend white gems for recharging.
Otherwise agreed but it makes a powerful companion candidate swear off you. I mean that robed dunmer woman at azuras altar is more than capable of dealing with your enemies.
@@fiefdomofumbria6590 Azura is a daedric prince and betraying a daedric prince is a bad idea expecially azura who cursed all the dunmer for that exact reason also black soul gems are easy to get i have a few already

I find the Star of Azura to be most useful as an added bonus I get a good follower. No good deed goes unrewarded and Azura definitely rewards you. I feel bad for the Priestess of Azura cause she can't communicate with her anymore but we as the plater can give her a purpose 😌
I pick the black star 9/10 times, but I found out that the priestess is actually a pretty strong companion. On my last playthrough I chose her as my follower and did not regret it. I usually just put the star on a dedicated storage spot anyway with all the other unique items.

I find it difficult to play as an evil character. When I played the dark brotherhood I felt guilty for every kill, and I felt no pity for Astrid or any of the others that died (although my character felt pity for the others, she wasn't quite fond of Astrid herself. Still held a grudge for the kidnapping bit and the betrayal). However I liked Cicero. Great guy. The best character all around. The best personality in the game. Hands down. Where was I going with this? I had a point... right, can't play evil without guilt, I'm too nice.
Misty Demorrow same thing, i just can’t be too evil in this game, especially to the point of betraying a good daedra. even keeping the skeleton key makes me feel guilty with nocturnal
The daedric lords are actually easier to kill on a low level than a high level because they scale. You can easily do the quest on about a level 10 on Legendary difficulty with a staff of storm atronachs (which you can make at the underforge basically free with a handful of ingredients and a broom). On a high level it is much harder since they will use stronger spells and K0 the storm atronach (and you) almost instantly.
I always go for the black star due to the fact that you kill a lot of humanoids. And they fill up enchanted weapons the best and are the best way to enchant items as well. More money when sold. when you are done using the weapon or item of course. Lol
Yeah, but this decision is actually made difficult by the fact that taking the black star would piss off that dunmer woman at Azuras altar and make her refuse to become your adventuring partner. She is actually a powerful, versatile and talented wizard capable of having your enemies butts handed to them.
@Cybernaut76 I have never tried her, so thank you for letting me know. :) There are so many follower options, I never know which one is my favorite. If you want to play a good character, choose Azura's Star. Especially since with Dawnguard you know where the souls of sentient beings trapped in black soul gems go.
Here's another reason to get the black star: You can kill M'aiq, soul trap him and never use him, then M'aiq will always be by your side. Alternately, you could turn him into a pair of fur boots or even one of those expensive looking furred shirts.
I have always had the feeling the the Aedra and Deadra were representations of the major game designers. The Aedra and Deadra had their “own planes of oblivion” and their own aspects “of reality” that there were in charge of...just like programmers being assigned different game development tasks. But my conspiracy theory doesn’t stop there...I think the beings that the Aedra and Deadra were born out of is credit to the games top producers and The Void was the platforming engine, or perhaps Bethesda itself. Thoughts guys?
Interesting theory although I would hope it isn't true since that would mean one of the devs would be a malicious r*pist lol. I would think the closest thing in the elder scrolls verse that would resemble the devs would be the Godhead.
I literally have a closet filled with the souls of my victims just because I wanted something to collect i never use black souls because I trap certain characters in those 😈
i actually chose the white star simply cuz i wanted to be favored by all the daedric gods and i can get so many black soul gems from apocrpha anyway and i only use them for specific (NAZEEEM) people so plus soul gems already take up like half my inventory space wouldnt feel right without them lol
I chose the black star simply because you can get both black and white souls in it (even though it says just black souls) so it's overall useful to me no matter what but that's just me.
The black star isnt evil. It all depends on who you use it on. Yeah sure going around killing civilians for souls isnt heroic but if you just stick to killing bandits you aren't doing anything wrong.
Huge difference from just killing someone and capturing their soul tho isn't there? I can agree it's not evil to kill bandits, however sending them to be tortured for god knows how long by the ideal masters just to enchant a pair of boots is sick.

@@fiefdomofumbria6590
Azura is a daedric prince and betraying a daedric prince is a bad idea expecially azura who cursed all the dunmer for that exact reason also black soul gems are easy to get i have a few already
@@Twilight24682 "I sided with Azura because I don't want her to pipe bomb my mail box"
Honestly same
Also worth noting that Azura is one of the very few Daedric Prince who treated her followers decently. Most others will simply kill their followers who outlive their usefullness and laugh at it.
@Kevin Clement
True azura is awesome best daedric prince to worship in my opinion
2:46 to start the interesting bit of the video
I find the Star of Azura to be most useful as an added bonus I get a good follower. No good deed goes unrewarded and Azura definitely rewards you. I feel bad for the Priestess of Azura cause she can't communicate with her anymore but we as the plater can give her a purpose 😌
I pick the black star 9/10 times, but I found out that the priestess is actually a pretty strong companion. On my last playthrough I chose her as my follower and did not regret it. I usually just put the star on a dedicated storage spot anyway with all the other unique items.
Funniest quest walkthrough I’ve seen on TH-cam thank you!
HOW DARE YOU
M'aiq has the best whiskers.
DAMN RIGHT!
I chose Azura's star because it looks better. Plus, it doesn't feel right going against Azura.
"continue chilling or doing whatever boring chore you are while this works as background noise because you're so damn needy"
damn BUSTED xD
The Black Star obviously.. for soul trapping Nazeem
"I love making people happy, I love making people triggered... Some people just hate my voice, that's life." lmao! 9:43
1:28 wait... lore inconsistencies? Oooo can we talk about that next?!or have you already done that???
"I hope that fried egg you had for breakfast was egg-tastic"
I had a fried egg butty for breakfast before heading to bed (I work nights) and it was perfect
What is wrong with you
@@kingnova6408 literally nothing, lol
Bulbasaur Cheroso fam what
I study the Soul Carin so Black Star is a usefull tool for study
The daedric lords are actually easier to kill on a low level than a high level because they scale. You can easily do the quest on about a level 10 on Legendary difficulty with a staff of storm atronachs (which you can make at the underforge basically free with a handful of ingredients and a broom). On a high level it is much harder since they will use stronger spells and K0 the storm atronach (and you) almost instantly.
I always go for the Black Star. It's essentially an infinite black soul gem (much more useful).
I once had a glitch with this quest. I had died before Azura could save me, when I loaded up the auto save, Azura just gave me the Azura's Star.
I like high pitched Dylan Moran telling me about Skyrim.
your the only guy I know who can make a 2 minute intro entertaining
I do like errindor, and dravenea the stoneweaver, and I think his name is valdimar (he is one of the housecarls).. (Sorry, I can never remember how to spell all the names unless looking at them..) I mean also stenvar and Lydia are tanks.. There are just a lot of options lol. Also Black souls are always grand souls, and getting grand souls the other way is harder. Maybe I will give her a try sometime :) again thank you 😊
@@jenniferperez3910 Here you can see Aranea lenith in a situation where many other followers quite likely would bite the dust th-cam.com/video/Vc_7TotqeCg/w-d-xo.html As you can see, she fires destruction spells almost like a heavy duty gunship helicopter fires rockets and missiles. Now THAT causes me a real dilemma about white or black star. Without Aranea, the choice would be completely clear to me.
@@Cybernaut76 thank you 😊
@@jenniferperez3910 You are welcome. Only now did I realize that frost atronach in the video was not hostile but even it was summoned by Aranea in the beginning of the battle. First she summons a powerful atronach, then she fires off all that destruction magic. Where does she get such incredible mana pool from???
StraightUpAwesome channel!
I found that the Sanguine Rose to be very useful in this quest.
video: with the black star you can trap nazeem

"when I tried out the black star I could never go back"
this make anyone else laugh a bit?
:P i know all about da star. But...still watched this all the way cause... It was enjoyable to hear your banter :D
Azura is wonderful, how could you disobey her and bring the star to Nelecar. ^^ Worthy champion of Azura brings it back to her and gets the star.
Yeah, uhm well... Azura is all nice and stuff but the Black Star is just to damn cool.... So fuck it.
how did you know this was background noise while i do homework? nice
🤔 After watching this video;
1st off, this is my first time seeing any of your videos and I love the way you break down the information, sass it up, and really like your voice, totally subscribing.
2nd 🤔 Damn... I didn’t know trapping ppl’s souls was possible, slightly regretting having had the townsfolk kill Nazeem lmao 😂 but not really, because everyone finally took out their frustrations on him 🤣 and I was happy to help. Now, to piss off Azura or not? 🤔
I still feel like either way I’ll regret it 😅 damn conscience.
Thanks for the video!

😂😂😂😂 love you man keep up the good work and i love youre voice
I'm not sure if you need a hug or just achieved CHIM.
I always got the black star. I never thought to go back to the shrine and get the white star.
Azura's star cus you get a badass companion.
Love these vids 😂😂💙
Hey outlander, get to Vivec very often? Oh what am I saying of course you don't.

Some people deserve to be soul trapped and used to enchant my toilet paper. That's life.
you always gotta love those extra long intros
For me this is a difficult choice. I like the black star better, but I like the follower you get from returning the star to Azura :/
14 SECONDS OF VID

I like that beat in the background

Can you make a guide type video on the companions best for the sacrifice,Blades,Steward Not marriage There's already a awesome Video on that subject
I forgot howuch I loved your videos dude, great content!
If you want to play a good character, choose Azura's Star. Especially since with Dawnguard you know where the souls of sentient beings trapped in black soul gems go.
Turn Nazeem into boots! I love it. Keep up the awesome that you do.
Here's another reason to get the black star: You can kill M'aiq, soul trap him and never use him, then M'aiq will always be by your side. Alternately, you could turn him into a pair of fur boots or even one of those expensive looking furred shirts.
You could also do that with a regular black soul gem innit
They should have made it equals for both stars, like azura stars could've had other feature that is equals to absorbing human souls.
Lmao I love your vids keep it up I died when you said and I hope that fried egg you had for breakfast was fantastic
I literally have a closet filled with the souls of my victims just because I wanted something to collect i never use black souls because I trap certain characters in those 😈
Get the Ice Form Shout, as with a lot of quests, it'll help greatly with this quest.. but anyways thanks for sharing...
i actually chose the white star simply cuz i wanted to be favored by all the daedric gods and i can get so many black soul gems from apocrpha anyway and i only use them for specific (NAZEEEM) people so plus soul gems already take up like half my inventory space wouldnt feel right without them lol
Same, I never had problems with white souls. It's not like there is shortage of either white or black souls.
This was my first video i witched of this Channel and was laughing a lot
By Azura, by Azura, by Azuraaaaa !!!
Its the grand champion!!!!!
I chose the black star simply because you can get both black and white souls in it (even though it says just black souls) so it's overall useful to me no matter what but that's just me.
The black star isnt evil. It all depends on who you use it on. Yeah sure going around killing civilians for souls isnt heroic but if you just stick to killing bandits you aren't doing anything wrong.
thats my opinion as well. i only used soul gems on bandits and monsters anyways.
Huge difference from just killing someone and capturing their soul tho isn't there? I can agree it's not evil to kill bandits, however sending them to be tortured for god knows how long by the ideal masters just to enchant a pair of boots is sick.
@@GottaLoveShuckle No different from them murdering people so they can have a bit more money.
@@libertyprime3827 My characters never do that so irrelevant. If trying to play a moral character I would only kill in self defense or for some sort of greater good.
@@GottaLoveShuckle I'm not talking about you killing people for money I'm talking about the bandits killing for money.

You can always '~qasmoke' and take em both. I mean, the game is kinda about becoming a demigod. You might as well go all the way and control the very fabric of Mundus with the almighty ~ key
