Thirteen years after his mother took her own life as a ritual sacrifice for the Black Mass, samurai Kyoshiro (Masakazu Tamura), who lives his life with his eyes turned away from happiness, uses his beloved sword to slay his enemies who come at him.....
This drama series was produced by Kansai Television and Toei and was aired from October 3, 1972 to March 27, 1973 on Fuji Television. Based on the original work of Shibata Renzaburo, Tamura Masakazu, who was recommended for the main character’s role by the author himself, played a swordsman with a lonely shadow on his back, a role that overturned his previous image and became one of his best-known works. The kaleidoscopic use of sword fights, the tantalizing touch of eroticism and unique storyline are sure to capture the hearts and minds of viewers! The 6th episode "Tearing Woman in the Night "co-stars Tamura Takahiro, Masakazu’s older brother, and Tamura Ryo, his younger brother.

It took me a while to watch this last one...I kept putting it off because I didn't want to see it end...love all the stars that portrayed Nemuri Kyoshira ... Raizo Ichikawa was my favorite but this series was the best.

This was the end of the actor's Kyoshiro, it was played by many actors behind him. For movies, he played Nemuri Kyoshiro 6 more times, until he was almost 60.
What six ore times are you referring to ?
I saw the 4 other movies of him, which it says 1993-1996 and 1998 with blue thumbnail.
One of them is the one with that little girl who sells flowers and NK kills her at the end.
There’s one more which is called Nemuri Kyoshiro final ( NK is very old ). .

Masakazu Tamura left this world on a farewell note by portraying his signature character Nemuri Kyoshiro for one last time in Nemuri Kyoshiro: The Final. He was so dismayed with his performance in this movie due to his poor health that he even refused to watch the test screening. RIP Masakazu Tamura. RIP Nemuri Kyoshiro
@@哥坤-s7o I think it's unfortunate that Masakazu Tamura didn't appreciate his performance in Nemuri Kyoshiro: The Final. I guess an artist is the most demanding critic of their own work. I watched "The Final," and found it to be one of Masakazu Tamura's best performances. I found the story of an aging Ronin born of the Black Mass to be compelling. A man driven by his inner conflicts still living as he believed, even into old age. I couldn't understand the dialogue, as there were no subtitles, but feel I understand the story. And the story was a good one. A fitting farewell.
No, Ichikawa Reizo acted Nemuri Kyoshiro in movies 9 years earlier than Tamura Masakazu acted Kyoshiro in TV series.
Tamura played his last Kyoshiro "The Final" in 2018 at 75.
Reizo made 12 movies of Nemuri Kyoshiro while Tamura made no movie of Nemuri Kyoshiro besides his TV series in 1972-73 and 1989, 1993, 1996, 1998, and 2018.
He is much too old for the hero Nemuri Kyoshiro in his 1989 and later performances.
An old Nemuri Kyoshiro is just an old Nemuri Kyoshiro.

Thank you. Glad it had a positive out come. A good resolution to a tragic life. It seems to be left slightly open as to whether he died that day or some time soon after the last battle, or whether he was able to bask in the light of acceptance and forgiveness of who his mother was and what she did in abandoning him so young.

One of the reasons that it feels good to watch the series, just like Bruce Lee movies, the hero never let himself get humiliated. This is it very rare situation.
The other heroes get beaten up by the villains so many times that even though at the end, the hero kills all the bad villains but by that time, we as audience lose interest in his heroism. But of course you have to have an extra talent to cope with the heroism.

Nice to making this 1972 TV series coming to it's ending at complete 26 Episodes. Please keep it up to good work with English Subtitles - so that we can reply to you at all. Well, but, there's some other TV Series being amissed. There is three other Japanese TV series of Jidaigeki-themed that shown in this SAMURAI vs NINJA Channel which is not completed therefore was stopped without a major reason, e.g., the 1970 Jidaigeki classic "WOMEN OF OSAKA CASTLE" the outstanding costume period which was released in this channel at only first 8 episodes out of originally 39 episodes, the 1972-1973 series "HASEGAWA SHIN SERIES" at first ten episodes out of thirty Eps, and the 1972 series of "WANDERING WOLF RYU" at first five episodes out of complete 26 episodes. That is being went off for long period before the next episode(s) each. So, is there any reason for leaving some out ? Rob.

NK is dark, very dark. some episodes are great, most ok, some are WFT! i wish there was more katana fights though. that would have made the series outstanding. still, a big fat YOSH!
