My little Honey went blind pretty quickly after her diabetes diagnosis. She could see shadows, that was about it. Once she figured it out, she was good. All dogs really want is affection and caring and a safe place in this world. Thanks Lee!

At least dogs have that incredible sense of smell that guides them - they're in better shape than us humans when we lose our eyesight, we don't have that super sense that they do.
November 13 2021 I lost my mini dachshund. Her pancreas failed. She was eleven years old. Her name was Gretel. I have never loved like that before or since. I’m sure you’ll give this little gem a great name. To me? She will be a Gretel. Because I found this video the day after the anniversary of my baby girl’s passing. Love to you Lee and ALL fur babies world wide. XO
Alma, from Alma mater, which is also a honorific title for various mother goddesses. She is a little goddess! In addition, she is the apple of Lee's beautiful, sparkling eyes 👍🍀💖. Alma in Hungarian means Apple. I think it would be a nice name, even just Apple would sound nice! But it is Lee's puppy, so I let him choose her name. 👏👍🫶🍀💖♥️🤍💚🇬🇧
Thank you for bringing this dog to the sanctuary. She is so beautiful ! She will use all her senses like my beautiful girl did . Diabetes took her sight and then her life .She will be fine with all the love and care she'll get with you ! She will get around so quickly when she learns her way around. It doesn't take long either

I remember reading a story years ago about a British comedian called Jimmy Tarbuck. He had a blind dog who he would take for walks. Jimmy wore an elasticated band around his ankle. He had sewn several small bells to the band. His dog was able to follow the sound and of course follow him. This gave the dog a measure of independence. Love all the work you do. Best wishes Sue

You never cease to amaze me with your compassion for these beautiful animals. Being blind doesn't change the love she can provide as part of your pack. I adopted a deaf australian mix over 8 years ago, and if you didn't know she was deaf you wouldn't know. She acts like any other dog. It is just a different way to communicate communicate with her. She is one of the best dogs I ever had.
Boy, when dad comes home the dogs sound off. Holy cow, the one!!! That is one intense howl. The new pup is sweet. She is incredibly glad to be out of the shelter. So good natured.
Although all of The Asher House animals are my favorites, this little girl is special. She stole my heart too, Lee! Looking forward to seeing her thrive as part of the pack.

My dog growing up went blind from diabetes. I used to take him to big empty fields and run with him. That was the best! He trusted me to know I wouldn’t let him hit anything. They just need some extra reassurance and love. ❤

My sweet Penny lost her sight suddenly at age 5, she adapted to her environment and was able to navigate her home and fenced yard with time. this is on lucky dog, it will be able to live its best life at the sanctuary 😊

Being blind doesnt limit animals the same way it does humans. Animals live in the moment. They dont worry about tomorrow.
