What a plethora of test cases to use this new feature. This really expands the possibilities using Depth Maps beyond Lens Blur as in LR or ACR. Great video, Scott.
Thanks Scott for those great depth of field mask examples! I’m excited to try them out on my landscape shots. Thanks also for the reminder that we can stack multiple masks for target refinement.
Very informative video. I was not particularly impressed with the idea of depth masks but your excellent video has shown me how they can effectively be used. Thanks.
What a fabulous tutorial on Depth Masks. You are an awesome teacher. The lesson was so focused and clear. You really clarified the "mystery" of using the sliders. Thanks so much, Scott.
Totally Awesome Scott, I am really counting on you with this update...and I can see I am counting on the right teacher. Thanks. So MANY changes....Whew...
this adds a whole lot more to my photography, takes out the guess work of just using a F number and hoping you get the effect, but like you say Scott can be refined to the image so much more. Great vid but now i have to go back over a number of shots to tweak..lol
Thank you for the interest. At this time, I do not have plans to update the book for PR 2025. Most of Photo RAW has not changed and the videos I've posted this week cover the majority of new features.
You can copy/paste depth masks within ON1 like any other mask across filters, adjustments, and layers. Using in another program…. _maybe_ as a layer mask and saving a PSD. YMMV
I have a simple question, hopefully you or someone can answer. I like what the Depth Mask can produce on tonal change. What I want to achieve is exporting out that Depth Mask to be able to utilize it to create an animated movement within the still image....like a fly thru than can be achieved using After Effects and motion 3D......It is possible.....I just need that greytone Mask.... Thx in advance
Brilliant. You are the king of the explainers. Thanks a bunch!
I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks Scott. Always great and informative videos. Much appreciated.
Very welcome!

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Have fun!

You bet!
Great video and this is probably the best addition to ON1 2025 in my opinion.
My favorite for sure.
WOW! What a video. Thanks a lot Scott.
Sure thing. Thanks for watching!
You worked that scene really well Ralph, great video and looking forward to the next one.

Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Scott.
No worries!

Excellent!
Thanks Scott! Well explained!
A good exercise! Thanks for that.
Cool! Thanks!
I have just watched your tutorial on the Lens Blur Filter and immediately thought that is would work well with the Depth Mask.
Definitely a combo to use!
I Still Use A7 3. It's A Work Horse! Thank You For The Vids 👍

Thanks Scott. I assume this will work with focus blur as well?
Yes, any filter.
Nice video, thank you. Can you use this to create an bokeh blur in the background?
Certainly! You can use depth masks with any of effects filter, like the Lens Blur filter.
Thanks for the video, Scott. Question: Will you be releasing a revised edition of your ON1 Essentials book for this 2025 ON1?
Thank you for the interest. At this time, I do not have plans to update the book for PR 2025. Most of Photo RAW has not changed and the videos I've posted this week cover the majority of new features.
Once we have created a depth map, can we save it for future use, or to adjust as a separate image, or use in another program?
You can copy/paste depth masks within ON1 like any other mask across filters, adjustments, and layers. Using in another program…. _maybe_ as a layer mask and saving a PSD. YMMV
Interesting. Can depth masks be used in layers to focus stack?
You can use depth masks on a layer. Interesting idea to use with focus stacking.
Not focus stack, that's a separate operation which one has to perform separately, though one can use this to sharpen/blur.
I have a simple question, hopefully you or someone can answer.

I don’t know of a way to extract or export the mask itself as a grayscale image.
