Beginner rider here. I have to say that the way you teach allows me to go out into the hills here in Routt County CO and practice and learn by coming back and reviewing again. The last thing good riders want is inexperienced riders getting in trouble and causing issues in the BC. Really appreciate you showing all aspects of riding so we can enjoy the sport more.

Was just riding out west for the first time. And the biggest thing is getting out of ur comfort zone little at a time. From day one to day 3 I found myself doing things I didn’t expect to be doing. Thanks for the tips, stay safe

I have watched and practiced so much that I am confident, and now capable thanks to you! I made my cousin watch your video's before he came with me this weekend for his 1st mountain trip. And it made it so much easier when I can just revert back to your video when he was having issues, show him why he was messing up and how to correct it. And all because you have shown me. I'm still learning every trip and riding hard at 41yrs. Thanks Dan could not have done it without you!
Great re-entry! Hate to be a cliche, but watching Dan has brought my riding to the next level. Opposite foot forward technique has made me a faster, more confident rider that fatigues way less. I'm way out in front and having to double back to catch up the my 20+ year riding partners. I'm turning in a third of the distance and looking stylish at the same time. My lefty is getting used less and less every ride and I have Dan to thank for showing me how to ride "under control". This is a must subscribe channel for any rider thats still hanging his ass way out while hanging on to his johnson bar and taking 35 yards to turn around.
I can’t stop watching these videos. I’m headed to west yellow stone in March and bringing my short track assault 144. First time I’ll be west and am studying these videos as much as I can because I know it’ll be 10x harder with my sled but it’ll be incredible
You’ll be fine if you have realistic expectations; I’ve had a few friends ride W.Yellowstone/Island Park on Assault 144” sleds with both 2” & 2.5” tracks. I’ve been out there on a FreeRide 137”/2.25”.

Great video guys! A nuance of this technique is the right hand sidehill, I heard you say once that most riders struggle with the right handers due to a few factors like throttle position. Left handers are much easier to master. I purposefully avoid terrain where I'd have to do a right hander, and it would be nice to get over this stressful weakness. Also, terrain where the angle is right between the need to pull into a side-hill or fighting the sled from going downhill while flat on the skiis and standing on one side... I find this way more difficult than a sleep slope where you HAVE to be in a side-hill position.

Bro thank you so much! I went out yesterday on my new chassis and had a helluva time. I learned my old chassis i knew it and what to do. This new one is a reset button. I literally had your voice in my head. Ok finger on brake blip the throttle square up look where you want to go. Roll it but give the track bite remember use that off foot. Sounds ridiculous. But man I'm back at square one and gotta just remember fundamentals! By the way them axys sleds are cheating. I've rode em and theyre nothing like my 17 mountain cat. I still have to work pretty damn hard like i did with my 07 m8. The work is just different.

Had one of these last week. Losing the sidehill would have been loss of sled. Was scared but got it over and over again while sled skiing. It's hard sometimes not to get bucked off your sidehill. Any advice on how to catch it? More aggressive countersteer with anticipation?
Is a good place to practice this on the way back from the meadows? It’s not this video, but a similar one from last year that looked to be not far from McCain cabin.
What situation is better to have you're left foot in front of the right one rather than extended 10 inches from the sled as you do when sidehilling? I tend to mix both position.
Just getting to where I can hold edge and sidehill, why does my sled always want to climb to top of hill. I've adjusted foot position all the way to the front, still happens.
@@NextLevelRidingClinics one thing that comes to my mind is like the uphill 180. I will re watch that video it’s a really good video that explains it. I struggle with the part the comes after the uphill turn. It’s almost like once the back end swings out I struggle with bringing it back over to swing my leg over the seat

That’s going to depend more on the rider than the sled, in my opinion. It will be more of a challenge with a sled that has a shorter track and coupled skid that’ll want to trench right away. I loved my FreeRide 137”/2.25”, but found I had to ride like my ass was on fire and that there was very little forgiveness for slow reaction times.

julian johnson Flick snow off and make sure throttle mechanism and return is moving freely before starting engine.

Do u think a 800 137 freeride all stock is capable a of doing all this at age 15
