- Well today we are out having some fun and getting some work done.
We are raking hay with our 1971 New Holland roller bar hay rake pulled by our 1943 Fordson N tractor.

Looks like fun. If you want rain just make sure you have hay laying, clouds and rain just appear. 😂
Hi, yes that is very true. Cut hay and the rain.
I did have fun with the fordson.
Thanks from Geoffrey
Rollabar rakes do a fantastic job. And you can pull them with any tractor or Ute. I did enjoy seeing the Fordson in action. I recon it was running better as the video progressed and then I could see the Steam from the radiator and knew it was at operating temperature.
We have had 35 mm of rain here over the past couple of days which has been a blessing to us. It will be frustrating for people with hay cut and put pressure on crops diseases but I haven’t seen a bad rain yet.
Could you do a crop walk video? The crops that flashed by while you were raining look pretty handy.
@@davidrobertson376 I prefer the linkage mounted New Holland rake
Hi David, yes they are a good rake. The first time I used one I was pulling it with a willies jeep at night. At the speed I was traveling the generator wasn’t producing enough power to run both the lights and the thermo fan, which meant it was either almost boiling, or I was raking by moonlight.
Yes I will try and do a crop video, but the one you were seeing is the neighbours crop.
Thanks from Geoffrey
@@brookdalefarm7986 the Jeep story is terrific. Was it left hand drive ?
They never started that well even in the sixty so nothings changed
Hi, yes they can be temperamental. I do get to fiddle with some that start better than this one though.
Some time I will give it a Tuen up and hopefully it will be better.
Thanks from Geoffrey
She doesn't seem to run too bad once it's up and running
Hi Joe, yes it goes well. I had a lot of fun with it.
Thanks from Geoffrey
@brookdalefarm7986 Well, that's good. There is no point in doing it unless you're having fun.
I'm hoping to add a model N to my collection one day but they aren't that common down here is tassie
I missed the O on steel.
Great job on the Fordson, but couldn't help but notice the film crew vehicle was blowing a bit of smoke, could be your next job. The dogs got their daily workout, so they should be fit as a fiddle. Cheers
And once again it just proves you don't need mega expensive machines to make good hay
Hi Darryl, yeah the quad bike needs a major overhaul. It’s on the list of jobs to get to.
Yes the dogs have had a good run most days during hay making.
Thanks from Geoffrey
That looks like a good job for a retiree
Hi Matthew, you are welcome to have a drive next year.
Thanks from Geoffrey
I am amazed at how fast the ground speed of that Fordson, I have seen them in USA n steel very slow.
Hi, yes this one has the high top gear. Lots of them have a much slower top gear, and it is very slow. When they are on steel wheels on hard ground they give a very rough ride. If you went any faster it would throw you off the tractor.
Thanks from Geoffrey
What a unit top.gear. plowing gears very slow
What fuel were you using
Same clutch problem as model F
Clutch draging
Hi David, I was running it on petrol as it doesn’t have the vaporiser carburettor on it at the moment. This one is quite fast in top gear. The clutch is much better on this one that the F, but yes they all drag a bit.
Thanks from Geoffrey
