This is not a bond thing but heist movies inspired performance. Such as Ocean 11. You missed the artworks shown in the beginning. So BTS successfully stole all the artworks because by the end of their performance the artworks are replaced by BTS photos ;-)

Bighit released written statements for Jin's injury and when J-hope and JK got COVID so we knew about all that happening but obviously didn't know how difficult this performance would be for them. It really is a miracle that they pulled it all off live and I'm still so proud of them. A performance for the books really; award or no award.

All Army knew at the time about Jin’s hand and were aware of Jungkook and J Hopes Covid so though concerned over the boys health we knew they would nail it. We watched Jungkook practicing in his hotel room and both said they were not too bad! They managed to integrate Jin into the performance by placing him at the controls and due to his acting abilities it works well and as he was able to do minimum choreography he joined at the end. This was brilliant and I do not believe there is any other group in the world that can do what they do. They are world class entertainers who do not need the Grammies for acknowledgment as they have the Army!
They talked about that card tricked on their VLive after the performance and it was really a tricked..the card V went on the floor..Haha..the cameraman is great.

During the rehearsals, JK actually caught the card that Tae threw! But they didn't want to risk it again and ruin the performance(?) if it didn't land properly. So JK prepared an extra card, hid it behind his back, and did some camera magic, so it looked like he caught it in the live performance! ☺️ There are also fancams of the live performance where you can see JK preparing to "catch" the card after he steps down from the levitating pole lol. Edit: NVM. Forget what I said in the first half of my comment... I just found out that JK was joking after all when he said that he caught it during the rehearsal... Lol.
just a correction, it's not 2 weeks, JK was quarantined only a few days. Then was out of quarantine less than 2 days before the performance so it's like they all get together to practice in less than a day. JHope arrives a day before the Grammys then went to practice right away. Even the staff and organizers were worried if BTS could perform with this short amount of practice time.
Yeah the CDC guidelines for quarantine had recently been changed from 10 to 5 days so he was able to attend the last rehearsal with 2 negative rapid tests on day 5 and the show was on day 6. If it had been a Korean event I don’t think he would have been permitted to attend. You can tell he was still feeling under the weather though, during the post-Grammys Vlive he was coughing 🥲
Yes, it was the 5 day requirement that JK was quarantined. It's amazing that he recovered so quickly. They commented at the end that he hit that last note but sounded tired. He was so worried that his voice might not hold out since he also only had one day to rehearse with everyone after C.

I was wondering at first why the paintings and the laser stuff. Until I rewatched the Butter MV and realized the lyrics at the beginning said "Smooth like butter like a criminal undercover". It all makes sense to me now. LMAO took me the grammys to realized it.
The most amazing thing was they never perfected that jacket trick during rehearsals. There were many stumbling blocks wuth their rehearsals, with Hobi and JK contracting COVID so close to the Grammys. But someone above loves them! because they are hardworking, lovable persons. BTS's live performance at the 2022 Grammys was perfect even though they had very few rehearsals due to Jk and J-Hope's quarantine. The very beginning with the card wasn't a trick, but actually JK caught that card thrown to him by V. V's conversation with Olivia Rodrigo was great acting (they talked about nothing). In addition, Jin performed wearing a cast on his hand due to an injury. This was mentioned by members in one of their Vlives. All this proves their uniqueness over other artists.
That was real butter that Hobi ate. Apparently he kept gagging and they had to film the scene a bunch of times. Not sure if he lost at rock paper scissors or what.
The term is ("Pats of Butter." 1x1inch) Old school cafeterias served small pieces of butter held between pre-cut wax paper, for food items like 🌽 corn, oatmeal, even mashed/baked potatoes! 🥔
15:30 I think the location was important too. Because I remember some critics complain that the bts performance was too gaudy? And I'm like it's Vegas. Gaudy and showy is perfect for the location tbh hahaha. Plus The dance break was reminiscent of a magic show and an ocean's eleven casino break in and the stolen artwork in the background like a museum break in. I think the location played a part in the performance. Such amazing detail. Edit: Oh the video of the behind the scenes of their practice of this performance and the performance itself was good too. It shows how the group barely got a chance to practice together but were so good that they pulled through perfectly.

at 38:00 JK also trips going down the steps because he's singing directly to camera. I took me several watches before I saw that smaller one. But I too totally missed Hobi's fairly big fall (and potentially dangerous because he ended up going up the stairs while catching himself and couldn't stabilize himself easily). With this performance your eyes have too many places to look! Thank God for the videos we can replay over and over and over!! I know Rolling Stone ranks this as #14 best Grammy's performance, but honestly with all these tricks and showmanship, I think it could be Top 10 or 5!

Considering all the obstacles that got thrown at them prior this performance- it's mind blowing how did they pulled it off . Not surprising though because they are one and only extraordinary BTS. Their hard work , dedication, precision, unity and just ability to breath as one is rather remarkable and obvious . Hotter remix is a hilarious to watch and it's one of my favorites. I remember when J-Hope tested positive and I was like get JK out of there as soon as possible because they were all getting it and he was the only member who hadn't had it yet. I thought he was safe flying to the US early, then the dreaded announcement came. But luckily his quarantine wasn't that long because he was already in the US.
Love that you went back to appreciate some of this in slow mo. It's true - we should watch BTS' dances in slo mo, at least partially, to catch all the details and the flow. Like the MMA 2019 Dionysus dance break at the long table... amazing coordination with so many moving parts.
As Baby ARMY I thought this performance was incredible! As a month old ARMY (who had consumed a vast amount of their dance practices) I realized that in comparison this performance didn’t hold up. As Veteran ARMY I now understand this performance is astounding considering Hobi was only there the day before the performance to rehearse. And we all know how important he is in rehearsals, let alone being part of the dance. Also I just love what Jimin said the day Hobi returned: never get sick again, for my sake.

all the information concerning this performance was shown and talked about in the 'behind the scene' vlog bts did. it was all part of their grammy event along with the hotel champagne talk in the hotel. currently there are no entertainers on the planet who are doing what bts is doing. they are a double triple threat to the world of music.
The Grammys 2022 they had minimal practice as a group. JK only practiced for 1 day with the group before the grammys because he had covid and Jhope practiced for 2 days with the group before the grammys because he also had covid

All the behind the scene stuff the army knew about came from BTS bomb ep for the Grammys. And also the members talked about it on their igs and lives. Hobi tripping though, I feel like most people didn’t notice 😂 he pointed it out almost immediately and that’s how a lot of ARMY probably noticed it lol at least that’s how it happened with me
JK actually took a flight a few *hours* earlier not days. He immidetly tested postive on arrival. But quarantine in the US was a lot shorter. He didn't fly out that early. We have airport footage. Hoseok came in about a day before the performance because of his quarantine. He pranked Army about already being there a day before he flew out but took that back fast as people believed it. Jin had cut something in his finger - possibly cooking? they never said how he injured himself only that he needed a finger OP. Which is why they put him in the performance at a control board. A few weeks before that Jimin was hospitalized and his appendix was taken out. In fact from middle of december till Las Vegas all of them got Covid - funnily enough not from each other as far as I can tell. They did the jacket trick thrice or so the day before but managed the timing only once and thought about not doing it during the performance. They went for it and it looked magical. It is a museums heist like in movies (they are in LV after all) "Now You see Me" and "Oceans Eleven". You can see the pictures vansihing over the performance with the last vanishes before the laser beams appear. And I think Yoongi touched the lights thrice or something. I'm under the impression that they did not work the way they should have. But you would have to look at the footage they filmed for the performance. Thank you! You nice! Keep going! 💜
Let’s not forget that 2 of the members were sick and they all practiced together only like a day or 2 prior to the show.. and still nailed it. I love this performance and this song is still a bop.
@27:10 talking about all they went through, we actually did know most of this leading up to the performance. BigHit sent out notices any time a member went into or came out of quarantine, or when Jin got hurt initially. The company is good about keeping us informed. Additionally, Jungkook was so bored I'm quarantine that he did multiple live streams from his hotel room. The whole thing was pretty crazy and just incredible to experience as they kept going no matter what, adjusted constantly for any possible senario, etc. They are the pinnacle of dedicated, persistent, and professional! They were rated the best performance of the night by many and the 14th best Grammy performance ever by Rolling Stones
I remember when this performance happened. HYBE has always released statements about the members when something has happened such as a surgery or illness that could prevent them from performing. ARMY was aware of the possibility that this could have been only four or five members, at the same time we also knew it was their dream to be able to do this performance together. I was hoping they would be able to achieve this dream of theirs and I was so thankful that they were. It was also their last chance to accept a Grammy Award together as a whole group before military service and that had me hoping for this win even more. History was made that night and history will be made again the day they can walk up on that stage and accept a Grammy Award. They put so much work into this performance while also preparing for their Last Vegas concerts, and Yet To Come Live even with members in quarantine and recovering from surgery. They have proven again and again that they can adapt and change things if that's what needs to happen, they don't let anything get in their way. On PTD Las Vegas Day 1 if you didn't know what they had been through, there's a chance you probably would have never guessed. They stole the show at the Grammy's with this performance of Butter and they killed it at their concerts.
@@crystalsnow1138 they had said that they had practiced the routine with only four or five members. Jungkook even said he would wear a mask for the performance if it meant he could be a part of it. Thankfully they were able to perform with all seven or them and I know that meant the world to them.

Can I just add the brilliance of the Butter performance. It was all about how BTS broke into the Grammys to steal art pieces (art is seen in the back which slowly disappears one by one, when later random BTS pops up instead, plus writing from the Dope and Fire etc. - which is songs about working hard your own way + living your life the way you want, and not how others expect you to) + they "spraypainted" BTS in the back. Not only did they include spy references from Ocean's 11, fictional gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, and maybe Mission Impossible and James Bond. For a concept like the gentleman thief Lupin, it would be more likely they enter from somewhere other than the stage, like from the audience or from out of thin air, rather than making a grand entrance from on stage. THe obvious high security with the lasers after they stole some art pieces in the back. They jackets changes without seeing it - very spy like. The Grammys was also held in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas - which is the arena next to SoFi stadium which BTS booked and FILLED with ARMYs who couldn't get access to the concerts and therefore watched it live in the arena. THe MGM Grand is also the hotel owned by the Terry Benedict in Ocean's 11. V stole Olivias ticket to gain access. I can't remember the rest. But it had many little gems like this. Also something about the date of the Grammys, but can't remember. So basically breaking into the Grammys having to steal access through another artist (their first performance on the Grammy stage was a little part with Lil Nas), then changing out the existing art and replacing it with their own. BTS is here to stay people haha. They bring something different to the world of entertainment, artestry and performance ... and the US knows they don't have anyone like them, but they continue to downplay and ignore their succes, bc BTS don't do payola. The industry doesn't gain what they usually get from other labels. BTS plays by different rules - their own... I know I must sound incredibly biased, but I've seen it over and over. I honestly think it scares the industry that someone not being put their by the big bosses, but a somewhat grassroot group making it to the top. No wonder they kept changing the rules for the Hot 100 several times the week RIGHT after BTS again went no. 1. They are not even subtle about it. They literally (and I mean literally) change the rules so artist like BTS would have a tougher job getting no. 1, and therefore the radiostations can keep being paid by labels and artist to get their artist on. I’m only just now seeing your reaction. You were amazed as you should be!! It was an amazing performance. If you watch the fan cams for the performance, all your questions will be answered. Also, the behind the scenes shows the difficulties they faced while waiting for JK and Hobi. There are several commentaries that highlight the dedication and hard work that made this 13th in Rolling Stones top 25 Grammy performances of all time, as well as Billboard’s best performance of the night. When you think about missing two members due to Covid as well as Jin’s injury, some artists might have canceled their performance. But this is BTS. They make us so proud!!

I was wondering at first why the paintings and the laser stuff. Until I rewatched the Butter MV and realized the lyrics at the beginning said "Smooth like butter like a criminal undercover". It all makes sense to me now. LMAO took me the grammys to realized it.

The most amazing thing was they never perfected that jacket trick during rehearsals. There were many stumbling blocks wuth their rehearsals, with Hobi and JK contracting COVID so close to the Grammys. But someone above loves them! because they are hardworking, lovable persons. They never take anything for granted. The actual performance was perfect 💜

Wonder why everyone knows how amazing they are except the Grammy people? Still scratching my head over them not winning last year.
BTS's live performance at the 2022 Grammys was perfect even though they had very few rehearsals due to Jk and J-Hope's quarantine. The very beginning with the card wasn't a trick, but actually JK caught that card thrown to him by V. V's conversation with Olivia Rodrigo was great acting (they talked about nothing). In addition, Jin performed wearing a cast on his hand due to an injury. This was mentioned by members in one of their Vlives. All this proves their uniqueness over other artists.
That was real butter that Hobi ate. Apparently he kept gagging and they had to film the scene a bunch of times. Not sure if he lost at rock paper scissors or what.

15:30 I think the location was important too. Because I remember some critics complain that the bts performance was too gaudy? And I'm like it's Vegas. Gaudy and showy is perfect for the location tbh hahaha. Plus The dance break was reminiscent of a magic show and an ocean's eleven casino break in and the stolen artwork in the background like a museum break in. I think the location played a part in the performance. Such amazing detail. Edit: Oh the video of the behind the scenes of their practice of this performance and the performance itself was good too. It shows how the group barely got a chance to practice together but were so good that they pulled through perfectly.

at 38:00 JK also trips going down the steps because he's singing directly to camera. I took me several watches before I saw that smaller one. But I too totally missed Hobi's fairly big fall (and potentially dangerous because he ended up going up the stairs while catching himself and couldn't stabilize himself easily). With this performance your eyes have too many places to look! Thank God for the videos we can replay over and over and over!! I know Rolling Stone ranks this as #14 best Grammy's performance, but honestly with all these tricks and showmanship, I think it could be Top 10 or 5!
Thank you kindly Jared and Jordan for getting to this magical performance of Butter . Considering all the obstacles that got thrown at them prior this performance- it's mind blowing how did they pulled it off . Not surprising though because they are one and only extraordinary BTS. Their hard work , dedication, precision, unity and just ability to breath as one is rather remarkable and obvious . Hotter remix is a hilarious to watch and it's one of my favorites. Also, Butter performance for Jimmy Fallon's show is absolutely worth watching. Also, a version with Meghan Stallion is fun- I was privileged to witness it live at PTD LA day 2! Borahae to all

I remember when J-Hope tested positive and I was like get JK out of there as soon as possible because they were all getting it and he was the only member who hadn't had it yet. I thought he was safe flying to the US early, then the dreaded announcement came. But luckily his quarantine wasn't that long because he was already in the US.

Love that you went back to appreciate some of this in slow mo. It's true - we should watch BTS' dances in slo mo, at least partially, to catch all the details and the flow. Like the MMA 2019 Dionysus dance break at the long table... amazing coordination with so many moving parts.
As Baby ARMY I thought this performance was incredible!
As a month old ARMY (who had consumed a vast amount of their dance practices) I realized that in comparison this performance didn’t hold up.
As Veteran ARMY I now understand this performance is astounding considering Hobi was only there the day before the performance to rehearse. And we all know how important he is in rehearsals, let alone being part of the dance.
Also I just love what Jimin said the day Hobi returned: never get sick again, for my sake.

The Grammys 2022 they had minimal practice as a group. JK only practiced for 1 day with the group before the grammys because he had covid and Jhope practiced for 2 days with the group before the grammys because he also had covid

All the behind the scene stuff the army knew about came from BTS bomb ep for the Grammys. And also the members talked about it on their igs and lives. Hobi tripping though, I feel like most people didn’t notice 😂 he pointed it out almost immediately and that’s how a lot of ARMY probably noticed it lol at least that’s how it happened with me

JK actually took a flight a few *hours* earlier not days. He immidetly tested postive on arrival. But quarantine in the US was a lot shorter. He didn't fly out that early. We have airport footage.
Hoseok came in about a day before the performance because of his quarantine. He pranked Army about already being there a day before he flew out but took that back fast as people believed it.
Jin had cut something in his finger - possibly cooking? they never said how he injured himself only that he needed a finger OP. Which is why they put him in the performance at a control board.
A few weeks before that Jimin was hospitalized and his appendix was taken out.
In fact from middle of december till Las Vegas all of them got Covid - funnily enough not from each other as far as I can tell.
They did the jacket trick thrice or so the day before but managed the timing only once and thought about not doing it during the performance. They went for it and it looked magical.
It is a museums heist like in movies (they are in LV after all) "Now You see Me" and "Oceans Eleven". You can see the pictures vansihing over the performance with the last vanishes before the laser beams appear.
And I think Yoongi touched the lights thrice or something. I'm under the impression that they did not work the way they should have. But you would have to look at the footage they filmed for the performance.

Let’s not forget that 2 of the members were sick and they all practiced together only like a day or 2 prior to the show.. and still nailed it. I love this performance and this song is still a bop.
@27:10 talking about all they went through, we actually did know most of this leading up to the performance. BigHit sent out notices any time a member went into or came out of quarantine, or when Jin got hurt initially. The company is good about keeping us informed.
Additionally, Jungkook was so bored I'm quarantine that he did multiple live streams from his hotel room.
The whole thing was pretty crazy and just incredible to experience as they kept going no matter what, adjusted constantly for any possible senario, etc. They are the pinnacle of dedicated, persistent, and professional! They were rated the best performance of the night by many and the 14th best Grammy performance ever by Rolling Stones
I remember when this performance happened. HYBE has always released statements about the members when something has happened such as a surgery or illness that could prevent them from performing. ARMY was aware of the possibility that this could have been only four or five members, at the same time we also knew it was their dream to be able to do this performance together. I was hoping they would be able to achieve this dream of theirs and I was so thankful that they were. It was also their last chance to accept a Grammy Award together as a whole group before military service and that had me hoping for this win even more. History was made that night and history will be made again the day they can walk up on that stage and accept a Grammy Award. They put so much work into this performance while also preparing for their Last Vegas concerts, and Yet To Come Live even with members in quarantine and recovering from surgery. They have proven again and again that they can adapt and change things if that's what needs to happen, they don't let anything get in their way. On PTD Las Vegas Day 1 if you didn't know what they had been through, there's a chance you probably would have never guessed. They stole the show at the Grammy's with this performance of Butter and they killed it at their concerts.
I read somewhere that they weren't going to perform unless it was with all 7 members, luckily it all worked out.
@@crystalsnow1138 they had said that they had practiced the routine with only four or five members. Jungkook even said he would wear a mask for the performance if it meant he could be a part of it. Thankfully they were able to perform with all seven or them and I know that meant the world to them.

Can I just add the brilliance of the Butter performance. It was all about how BTS broke into the Grammys to steal art pieces (art is seen in the back which slowly disappears one by one, when later random BTS pops up instead, plus writing from the Dope and Fire etc. - which is songs about working hard your own way + living your life the way you want, and not how others expect you to) + they "spraypainted" BTS in the back. Not only did they include spy references from Ocean's 11, fictional gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, and maybe Mission Impossible and James Bond. For a concept like the gentleman thief Lupin, it would be more likely they enter from somewhere other than the stage, like from the audience or from out of thin air, rather than making a grand entrance from on stage. THe obvious high security with the lasers after they stole some art pieces in the back. They jackets changes without seeing it - very spy like.
The Grammys was also held in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas - which is the arena next to SoFi stadium which BTS booked and FILLED with ARMYs who couldn't get access to the concerts and therefore watched it live in the arena. THe MGM Grand is also the hotel owned by the Terry Benedict in Ocean's 11. V stole Olivias ticket to gain access.
I can't remember the rest. But it had many little gems like this. Also something about the date of the Grammys, but can't remember.
So basically breaking into the Grammys having to steal access through another artist (their first performance on the Grammy stage was a little part with Lil Nas), then changing out the existing art and replacing it with their own. BTS is here to stay people haha.
They bring something different to the world of entertainment, artestry and performance ... and the US knows they don't have anyone like them, but they continue to downplay and ignore their succes, bc BTS don't do payola. The industry doesn't gain what they usually get from other labels. BTS plays by different rules - their own... I know I must sound incredibly biased, but I've seen it over and over. I honestly think it scares the industry that someone not being put their by the big bosses, but a somewhat grassroot group making it to the top. No wonder they kept changing the rules for the Hot 100 several times the week RIGHT after BTS again went no. 1. They are not even subtle about it. They literally (and I mean literally) change the rules so artist like BTS would have a tougher job getting no. 1, and therefore the radiostations can keep being paid by labels and artist to get their artist on.
Sorry about the long rant. I guess I was feeling it. Just signed up for SUGA and AgustDs tour for the New York presale dates, and it awoke some memories.

I’m only just now seeing your reaction. You were amazed as you should be!! It was an amazing performance. If you watch the fan cams for the performance, all your questions will be answered. Also, the behind the scenes shows the difficulties they faced while waiting for JK and Hobi. There are several commentaries that highlight the dedication and hard work that made this 13th in Rolling Stones top 25 Grammy performances of all time, as well as Billboard’s best performance of the night.
When you think about missing two members due to Covid as well as Jin’s injury, some artists might have canceled their performance. But this is BTS. They make us so proud!!

I'm sure you know now that you kind of missed the whole museum heist thing with the original pictures changing to graffiti during the lights part, and then being replaced with BTS member photos. It still never ceases to amaze me that they performed So Well, despite 2 of them just getting over Covid, and Jin recovering from hand surgery. It's always worth watching the Behind the Scenes (usually in Bangtan Bomb episodes), dance practices, etc. The Hotter Remix is so cool. lol You really have to pay attention to what's going on in the background all the time with BTS. :)
