I’m sorry but weed fabric is basically useless when used with mulch. The first year it works great. The second year mulch break down. Weeds grow on top of the fabric from the mulch that breaks down . Each year the fabric usually gets deeper under the ground over the years of mulch being redone every year and breaking down. Also if you are on a bank with weed fabric putting mulch on it then it rains is like a slipping slide for the mulch going down the hill. For me I just don’t think the money for the fabric and putting it down pays off for the 1 year it’s works for. Now with stones is totally different. I always use it for stones. And not really for weeds that it does work great with but to keep the stone separated from the soil. It’s best to just put new mulch down each year to help with weeds and spot spray throughout the year. I do a bunch of biweekly maintenance work on keeping flower beds in shape. I have ones with fabric and ones without. Never could till the difference with weeds from the two. Besides trying to plant new things is a pain with fabric down because it’s usually 6 or more inches under the ground after a few years. The only thing I can say if you use fabric with mulch make sure to get what he says in the video. Because people will get the cheap stuff that breaks down over the years. Ends up with little holes all over it. Then the weeds really take hold by the roots growing under the fabric with the weed popping up in the holes. Then you hardly will ever get the weeds out. I’ve done many of jobs removing the fabric that has been over a foot deep in the ground. Talk about a pain! You also better remove that if you want to plant new plants because it will stop you plants from getting good roots systems.
I tend to agree but some Customers insist…. Or it is cheaper for them to install the weed barrier instead of pulling all the roots/weeds that are existing
@@MikeAndes yeah I first try to tell them my professional opinion on it. But if they insist I will do it. It’s their yard and their money that I will be glad to take. I try to up sell them other services on maintaining it. Most the time it customers that have you back to trim or other things. The one thing I know about my boy mike is up sell! Haha I’d say 98 percent of my customers listen to my advice. The other 3 percent still pay me to come back and maintain weeds and whatever else after I charge for fabric too.
I split wood and have large pieces of bark. I have a very nice garden and don't want to screw it up. Is it advisable to use large bark that came off of green Oak and Ash logs? Thank you.
What would you rather go with a 21 cc or a 25 cc for a weed eater if you’ve been mowing your whole life and want to start a business I just want a opinion or your thoughts
FYI, That 6' weed barrier has a lot of other uses. Most municipalities only have a hot restriction on privacy fence. The cheapest privacy fence you will ever put up consist of your 6' weed barrier and about 4 strands of high tension fence.
Mike.. give disclaimer that some weeds e.g. morning glory need to be weeded very well (preferably over 2 sessions at least) before mulch is put down (even over fabric). Have dealt with nightmares where mulch fed weeds and they are out of control.
One of those power wheelbarrows might be a good investment like the one Makita has powdered by 18 volt lithium ion batteries,it wood make those hills and hard to reach places a lot easier on the back and nees just a thought 😁😀
I always replace my mulch I pay for the old mulch to removed. New fabric put down every year makes my house look so good so worth the money. I know my guy hates doing it cause he keeps raising the price and I still pay it.
Dallas and weed barrier is pretty much useless and all it does is grow super strong weeds weeds grow through concrete through asphalt you think a little fabric is going to stop them? The only thing that stops weeds is a pre-emergent and effort. And then all it does is increase washout because when you get a heavy rain the water has nowhere to go as it doesn't run through the fabric and the mulch just washes out exposing the fabric
@@kingofmphs I just did 35 bags and I charged 300 including picking it up and she paid for it. Took about 3-4 hours I do good work but I definitely charge for it.

I agree, we don’t ever put it down, I have bed treatments with post and pre emergents that I sell to keep the weeds out.

Yep, I hate weed fabric. Plus you can't plant anything in the future unless you cut big holes in it.

I find that throwing mulch is exhausting and you just don’t make much money on it. It’s a nightmare of a job.
Sounds like you aren’t charging even close to enough then.. mulch jobs are very profitable for me
