    Great review. I would finish composting that old mulch. Create a new raised bed every year and put that semi decomposed mulch on the bottom.

    I am new to gardening. Do not have a green thumb but I love the beauty of it. I used mulch in my back patio and was surprised that it changed color. I didn't know it turns into dirt. What information do you have about rubber mulch?

      There are many pros to rubber mulch but also some cons. Here is an article that explains the pros and cons of rubber mulch and wood mulch: www.buildwithrise.com/stories/recycled-rubber-mulch

    I thoroughly enjoyed this video and found it very informative. I am interested in adding mulch to the shrubs in the front of our home, however, two years ago I had a terrible experience with mulch. Basically, we had an explosion, artillery fungus, that covered my car!!! Fortunately, I found a detail car service that was very experienced in this fungus and removed it.......to the tune of $400. The process was painstakingly meticulous and took a couple of days. It was worth every penny to get my car back without any trace of that horrible fungus, and I will forever be grateful to the owners of this business. All of the mulch was removed and we now have artificial turf in that area, so no more worries there.
    As I mentioned, I would like to add mulch to our shrub beds in the front of our home (no cars there) but I fear this fungus growing again. Is there a mulch that would be safe, in your opinion? BTW, I live up the road from you! Thanks.

      From our experience (and the general consensus) pine bark mulch and cedar mulch aren't as prone to growing mulch mold and fungus. More specifically, large pine bark nuggets are the most resistant to artillery fungus. So if that is an issue for you, large pine bark nuggets might be the best!

    For de mulching that homeowner would do themselves, do you have a recommendation of getting rid of old mulch economically? Love the video btw!

    • @OutdoorInspirations
      @OutdoorInspirations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Murzik- we simply rake off the top layer of old mulch and place on a tarp- then into our dumping trailer or truck. If you have a large natural area or woodline you can place the old mulch out there to re purpose.
