The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Is it a catchy song? Well, my three-year-old son heard it once on the radio in 2024 and has been singing it to himself ever since.
1964 was SOOOOOO EXCITING!!!!
Yes, pop culture changed in one night in February’64.
The Beatles on Sullivan.
I was 14. I’m grateful to all those young song writers and performers who filled my head with their music and poetry.
Lennon & McCartney 👌
An EVERLY Brothers respect here ! Well done !
For so many The Ed Sullivan Show was a window to some of the most spectacular entertainment in the world. Peter and Gordon were just that -- spectacular.
Just watched this episode on “Decades” the other day...great group, great song....written by the equally great PAUL MCCARTNEY!!...thanks Ed...
They were not allowed to sing “world without love” on the show on their first appearance, because Bobby Rydell had already sang the song a couple of weeks earlier
I bought Bobby’s version first then heard their version . Bought that too still have them interesting bit of trivia never heard Bobby sing that on Sullivan
Meat city. 5119 Peter Asher himself told me that last year when I saw him in Buffalo New York!
thank you for the interesting info!
Didn't like Bobby Rydells version at all.
A song 🎵 that needs more attention
This is when I first discovered Peter and Gordon, with this song, when I was song, it was so beautiful
Very cool song
My favourite version of the song. Simply beautiful
I love these guys.
As you turned your back on me, you hid the light of day, I didn't have to play at being brokenhearted.
Simple great lyrics.
@@apexjoe4769 love his commitment to them
They were so great !
Nice to finally see it from the original 2" Quad. The old Rock And Roll Classics DVD clearly used a 1" dub which had severe ghosting and fringing around edges.
Hopefully one day the Beatles appearances appear from the 2" Quad masters instead of the dubs we've always got.
Big fan here! The guy with glasses is the brother of Jane Asher, Paul McCartney’s ex girlfriend whom he wrote the “All My Loving” song for.
Thanks Captain Obvious. Any serious Beatles fan knows this.
Paul lived @ their house 4 a yr & had a roof escape route. P. Asher was also the talent scout 4 apple records & signed James Taylor
@@andreacloyd4661 Peter was also Linda Rhonstads manager. There are more but it's late and the brains not working lol.
I Go To Pieces please.
Love seeing the video to the record!
Please post their performance of "500 Miles"
I don't want TO see you again :-)
Gotta love Austin Powers!
Groovy baby
Gordon looks really like john lennon
Era muito legal essa dupla armonica
Paul wrote "Woman" for his love, Jane Asher, who is Peter's sister.
A song by Paul McCartney credited to Lennon-McCartney.
Its Paul McCartney song
It's Austin Powers on the right!!
John Lennon on the left
JOHN LENNON COSPLAY 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Devo ser o único BR que escuta eles KKKKKKK
Não é não rsrs. Sou fã desses dois sujeitos. Abraço
Não amigão
🙋♀
Engano seu. Sou fã desde sempre.
British everly brothers
The mini Beatles
The great Peter Asher. Google him.
November 1964, not July 1965
Austin Powers singing his heart out.
Why a 480p bordering on 240p upload and not 720p upload? This looks like it was transferred to digital using freeware available from Sourceforge in the early 2000's when all that was available were 64kb dialup or DSL lines for uploading.
Yawn
I agree, and at least put it as 50 or 60p to retain the video fields.
Moan moan moan
American girls were then head-over-heel crazy on British artists or British Invasion hullabaloo.
Everyone may not know this but the song was written by Paul McCartney
Boamuzica
Very natural not lypsinc
27. PETER & GORDON-I DON'T WANT SEE YOU AGAIN! (Capitol) 1 Week and The New Hot 40 HIT FOR THEM AND BEFRIEND OF THE BEATLES.
Sir, you wrote down the date on July 18, but you're wrong. It's not July 18, 1965, but November 15, 1964. Isn't this basic?
They sound like the Beatles
John Lennon and Austin Powers ??!!
Paul Mc Cartney has a lot to do with the fame of Peter and Gordon as he wrote their first few songs that got them airplay. He lived with the Ashers as Jane Asher was his girlfriend and Peter was her brother. Don't get me wrong they were great singers and performers but I'm just saying Sir Paul had a lot to do with their success ..This song was one written by Paul. Woman is a great song he wrote and their big hit A World Without Love To name three.
Parody Beatles?
Another one Sir Paul gave to potential bro in law (never happened).
Geesh screaming for these guys?
You had to be there (living through the 60’s)...any British guy with a guitar would make the girls scream...
yup. you had to be there. actual talent, it was wonderful.
@@jmbutler5 true, I didn’t mean to imply they didn’t have talent. They truly were.
Peter & Gordon were one of the least talented of the British Invasion acts. The fact that Dave Dexter Jr. chose Peter & Gordon over such outstanding bands as the Dave Clark 5, Herman's Hermits, the Animals, the Hollies, Manfred Mann, and even Gerry & the Pacemakers is mind blowing.
John Lennon's look-alike.
