- On 19 June, Hezbollah leader warned Cyprus that it would become a target if it assisted Israel in attacking Lebanon. Causing Cyprus’ government spokesman to stress that ‘Cyprus has never, and will never, facilitate or support any aggressive actions against any country.’
So where have these accusations come from?
Cyprus was under British colonial rule until it won its independence in 1960 but the UK still has two military bases in Akrotiri and Dhekelia which have seen a lot of activity over the past eight months.
It is not clear if the Cypriot government is told what the bases are used for or what they’re transporting and the UK is not required to give them that information.

Akrotiri, the UK base in Cyprus is British territory so I'm not sure if Cyprus has any say in how the British use it. And if Hezbollah bombed Akrotiri , it would technically be bombing Britain so no need for Cyprus to worry about getting dragged into a war with Lebanon

The bases are also on British land the Cypriots did not win back with independence. It’s a bit like blaming Cuba for Guantanamo bay. Roads built in British land corridors also cross from base to base.
Hopefully Türkiye don’t use these accusations as a casus belli for taking the rest of the island - the Greek Cypriot government cannot kick out the British or tell them to stop.

It is necessary to understand that Britain granted independence to Cyprus under the 1960 Treaty of Establishment which made detailed provision for the British bases. The bases are situated within areas that are British sovereign territory, territory which the UK retained when it ceded the remainder to the new republic and over which Cyprus has no jurisdiction. Britain has no obligation to tell the Cyprus government what it is doing at these bases and Cyprus has no say over what goes on there.

I think you are all, including the video presenter, missing the point of the threat. Nasrallah isn't talking about the British bases which are nothing to do with the Cyprus government. He is threatening the Republic of Cyprus itself ie the southern part of the island that is not occupied by the Turkish army. Why? because if a war starts Hezbollah and Iran will try to knock out Israel's air bases first. If that happens Nasrallah is fearful that the Israeli airforce will move to Cyprus and fly from Cyprus' air base at Paphos or elsewhere on the island. Then Hezbollah will have to attack those locations. Of course, if Hezbollah hits Cypriot civilian locations there will be a response from Greece, France, Israel and the USA. I presume the UK will have already been drawn into such a scenario as the UK bases are always used to support Israel in such extended conflicts.

What people don't understand and what this report leaves out is that what has happened to the Palestinian people happened to the Greek Cypriots over centuries of Ottoman occupation and subjugation and again in 1974 by the TURKS. There is a UN resolution in the late 1970s and that's why many Cyripots greeks or turks can return to their country. 3 important points you didnt mention.
1)These bases are sovereign bases, they are in fact a UK land. Cyprus cannot do anything about it.
2)Cyprus was one of the first countries to recognize Palestine.
3) Cyprus as a country who got invaded and occupied by Turkey from 1974 was always close to countries that had the same issues.
4) Lebanon cannot do anything about it either because the whole of EU will go against them and if they attack the bases they are immediately in war with Nato. A wrong step from Lebanon and this will backfire enormously.

You forgot the most important point, Hezbollah isn't Lebonon, yeah they can do it, they're already a terrorist group according to the West, and they're allies of Iran and Russia. So the US and Nato have alot at risk too, need to think before strting a regional war with Iran, risking getting Russia and China involved.
The UN "invaded" Cyprus, with Canadian peacekeepers in 1974. Greeks broke the Treaty of Guarantee 1960, which explicitly states that no nation can annex it to their territory. Turkey's intervention was covered under their signatory status as a guarantor of the same treaty. The border is literally a United Nations buffer zone, and the UN is still there today, policing the border.
The intervention was necessary since the terrorist group EOKA B (supported by the Greek National Guard, and their military junta) was mass murdering Turks and ethnically cleansing the island. Turks have lived in Cyprus since the Ottoman Empire in the 1500s, they didn't arrive in 1974, a quite asinine idea.
