I had the same identical problem with my Whirlpool Refrigerator. Removing the bottom back cover looked identical to your Kitchen Aid. So, the new starter relay with a new capacitor didn't help us either, and I caught your video on TH-cam and ordered the ICM860 RapidStart Motor Starter For Hard Start Control. Our Refrigerator is only 5 years old, so we hope this new additional part will give us my time on the Whirlpool. The wife is ready to buy a new again. Its a shame the appliances don't last like my Mom's refrigerator did for 20 years before she got an upgrade. I remember it still working before a friend loaded it onto his truck for a beer refrigerator. My mom cried as it left … HA! Now a-days we're being programmed not to get attached ..-HA!
Bill are you sure your mom got an "upgrade"? Nothing is made to last nowadays. There are reasons for that. Back in the day products were made to last because companies had integrity. As time went on companies found that they made more money if they made products that didn't last as long so in turn they sold more, which made them more money. So basically, they were replacing their integrity with greed and deceit. They know that their products are cheaply made as they laugh all the way to the bank. Customers need to somehow empower themselves by learning how to fix products on their own, as well as improving them.
Debbie Spafford get an electrical tester to see if there is electricity running throughout. If there is, unplug the fridge and wait a few seconds then you can work on it.
How about a video troubleshooting the same make/model where neither the freezer nor the refrigerator cools (stays warm)? I have the 3 door (freezer on the bottom) and the compressor and fans all run but the freezer & refrigerator compartments do not cool.
My freezer is at 28F. The main compartment is running at 46F. It been like this for about 2 weeks now. The repair guy said it was the compressor. Wouldn't the fridge be all out of service if it was in fact the compressor? Im second guessing the tech because he also tried to sell me another fridge.
I have an Lg refrigerator. It freezes, but cooling improperly. I have had the board changed, the damper, the condenser fans ..still not cooling top refrigerator properly 48-50 F. Help if possible.
@@NoOne12 yes we did. We discovered that we had too much food in the freezer food baskets. The basket vents were blocked due to too much food blocking the air from properly circulating. The air couldn't circulate properly in the freezer and then to the refrigerator. So take out some of your unnecessary food in the freezer. The air circulates through the freezer and up to the refrigerator. Also, make sure the refrigerator isn't flushed against the wall. Pull it away from the wall a bit. The compressor also needs to be able to get air. You may need to clean off the compressor. I hope this helps 🙏🏽
@@smilingbeauty8694 Really appreciate the reply, I'm starting to think this might be a similar issue or related to the defroster at this point as I've tested just about everything else. Thanks again!
So you buy the same start relay and it doesn't work and then you choose the "hard start capacitor"? Why would the same start relay not work at the first place?
My fridge is the same one , and doing the same problem, the top won’t cool.. it was also doing the same noise then the noise stop.. I wish I could fix my fridge, but I will show this video to the man working on my fridge even though he thinks it’s the vibrator fan.. which do you know if that has anything to do with not cooking on top?
Okay, they delivered us a supposedly NEW Refrigerator, but it was badly dented … So, we refused the Appliance and now I'm getting ready to hook up your recommended "Rapid Start", but how do you get to the fuse to be sure its good or isn't missing????.
"FREON" ? "Toxic poisonous gas"? That stuff was OUTLAWED in the 70's! I'm a 72yo church going, skirt and heels wearing, manicured fingernails, grandmother....and I just sat on the floor and used a bullet piercing valve , a hose and gauge and a can of A134R refrigerant from AUTO ZONE to save my 20yo Jenn-Air side by side!
most electric devices/ wa. mashines, fridges etc. are made to make trouble after a while, so people keep buying. If they would all work perfect for live, people wouldn't need to buy a new one every few yrs. So its good business for producers and dealers. Sucks.
at 4:07 when he bust them knuckles and tried to play it off and keep explaining i was over here in tears hope he was ok 😂🤣😅
🤣🤣🤣
I said 'ouch' for him.
Why you have a new relay and a new capacitor and it still making same noise ?Why you have to add another start capacitor ?
you want to fix your fridge or buy a new one?

hi Bill, did it work?
be careful with capacitors. If you touch the terminals on one that's charged, it will knock your socks off,
how long should you wait before you touch and remove?

@@ddlfspaff3097 Become educated on capacitors before working on them. They need to be discharged before handling them safely.

I have the same problem if you figured out the problem please let me know thanks
did anyone do this this? my fridge is not cooling and freezer part not freezing.
How long did it last?
same tutorial content. thanks, the video is very useful
I have a Kitchen Aid french door the freezer is not cooling and top is ok. The technician said probably has a leak of gas (?). What do you think?

What if it’s the freezer that doesn’t cool well? My fridge works and cools but the freezer doesn’t cool well please help
It's better to use a multimeter to check to see if the relay is working or not.
Freon is not toxic - but - I agree - not to be touched by home DIY - Good video on starter circuitry - UK
Anyone know what turns on the fans inside the fridge??what activates them...both of mine do not turn on...just the bottom is frozen...any help please.

A decent torch to thorw some light onto it would have been a good idea. Why not simply re-order and get the right capacator ?
Thanks for the epilogue to let us know what the long term success was

what if the fridge is working but the freezer doesnt? mines like that the freezer on bottom
If you don’t know polarity of capacitors, NEVER just throw them in to see if they work. Those suckers can explode. That was some very bad advice.

Yah right
@@audreycoyle6857 it's actually possible the capacitor is a battery if u touch both terminals it can kill u it only takes .1 amp to kill u

Sounds comes from compressor,it's mechanical sounds
okay but my name...
