Brian, this is an awesome video, direct to the point. Because of that I was capable of replacing the rear shocks on my W164 yesterday in record time! Had to borrow an electric impact for the lower bolt, but everything else was a piece of cake. Thank you for your help.
Im enjoy learning and DIY from your videos. As I have an R350 so this is a perfect tutorial, very similar interiors but the removing of the rear shocks and replacing with Bilstein is great tutorial. I have air springs vs coils in the rear but the shocks are normal for my set up. You made the job much more approachable and better safety measures. Thanks
holy shit Brian, that was awesome! LOVE the format of the video, short and fast with no bs! great video. thank you for doing it. I can't believe it has so few likes.
chosenwon4444 thank you very much I'm glad the video helped out. I'm a new channel I just started. A lot of these guys of tons of use and stuff I've been doing it for years.
@@dredhedkingpin It went well. I got all my OEM suspension from Rockauto, they happened to have the Bilstein air struts at the time. Don't really remember any issues putting them it. Hardest part might have just been removing some of the rear stuff to access the top of the struts.
Thanks for this video. Made this job in my garage much easier. Have you done a similar video for the W164 front shock/strut replacement? If so, where is it?
I did the install for another viewer today. The shocks were easy, two nuts and a bolt, this one had an extra stowing track with really soft torx head machine screwswith clips...fun.
This is just ridiculous! All that work just to get to those two bolts. Total BS! And the shocks fail at like 60k miles so you have to change them out. Awesome tutorial though. Love the way it's just straight to the point.
Thanks a ton, after searching for half a day this was the closest DIY I could find for my 2012 GL550. Not exactly but very close enough. Thanks again.
Excellent tutorial. All essential steps were identified, demonstrated, and explained. Fantastic video. Thank you.
Mark Dowling thank you very much!

Thank you for this video. It was a gargantuan task but followed everything here and was able to pull through. These torx screws are crazy though.
Pete Smythe glad it worked out. Thank you for watching!
Appreciate the great clear instructions. Great job thanks.
thanks for this amazing video, is it same procedure for 2008 R350 with rear air springs only?
Hilmi Osaj yes it’s the same. Good luck with your shocks replacement.
Best video on utube in doing this
Nicely done video well edited and to the point, thanks so much!
Ted Russell glad to help. Thank you for watching!

With a little more planning, Mercedes could have made it way more difficult.
Thanks this certainly helped. My only problem is getting the bottom bolt undone. I have a rattle gun but obviously it doesnt have enough power.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! PLEASE HOW MANY HOURS IT TOOK?
Great video !! Very helpful!! Thanks a bunch
Nice video. Can you tell the tightening torque please? Thnx
Hey buddy do you have a video on how to remove the rear springs?
Any idea what the torque spec is for the bottom bolt?
Fantastic video mate thank you 😊
Hi Brian, I have a 2006 ML500 would this be the same steps with my ML?
Robert Johnson yes it's the same job. Thank you for watching
Does the front and rear use shocks. I need to replace all 4 and want to know what I need to get? Idk to get shocks or struts
Wow cuz this is great work! Congrats and keep it up.
Thank you!
Great video. Just made my job easier!
gardz glad the video helped. Thank you for watching!
Thank you, I thought the rears were gunna be easier up until I realized all this plastic is in the way.
Well I’m glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Do you have the torque specs?
It simply should have an acsses removable cover just over the shock's bolts ,
stupid design , need a smart mechanic.
Great video .
Nice job. What a mess just to get to those two nuts. You would think they would have a small access panel to get to them.
Mookie Man I was thinking the same thing. Thank you for watching!
How to Automotive Hi Brian do you have a video on how to remove / replace the rocker Arm on the Ml350 2007 if not can you give me some tips
Gracias
so stupid that they place the part behind a wall of work like this. Sometimes i hate mercedes
Morrie Larsen they could've at least made an access panel. Thank you for watching!

I agree they could’ve made a little access cover or something. Glad you like the video thank you for watching!
Can you post the torque specs?
that is why they ask 200 pounds just for labor ..... thx for the video .
i think ill just cut a access hole, f##! all that lol.
I tell my daughter every day you made a mistake buying a Mercedes. 😅
