i have to say, while the “blind al being a hostage” thing seems interesting, i can’t help but also like the constant budding heads with blind al and dp from the movies
Please do more videos like this!! I’ve been getting into comics for the past year and I’d love more guides for characters like Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, etc…
Hell, I'd like him to make one for Spider-Man. He's had so many runs and characterisations throughout the years and l would like to see Xavier's take on some.
For strange if you’re interested in origins check out doctor strange master of the mystic arts, if you’re looking for good and interesting characterization ; look for doctor strange damnation
I got into him thanks to the Hulk vs Wolverine movie, where he immediately stole the show and hearts of fans. Also his appearance in Marvel VS Capcom 3. I was REEEEALLY into the Deadpool hype of the early 2010’s and his presence in internet culture and the many, many, memes and cosplays that came with it. Also, I read the Daniel Way run, which doesn’t best represents him to some people. Nice to finally see a structure guide on his history. 9:46 Man, forget Tom Cruise being Superior Iron Man in Doctor Strange 2, I wanna see this variant!
Too bad his hype and popularity was synonymous with his bastardization. Worst part of the 2010s tbh. The casuals thought he was a memey quagmire with no substance.
It is criminal not to mention Remender's run X-Force, which featured Deadpool as one of the memebers. While not central, Deadpool serves as the emotinal tie in the group, solidifying one of the greatest runs on the team.
here's that list in the beginning, just in case: Deadpool Vol. 1 (BEST): #1-7 Deadpool/Death '98 special issue: #8-33 & #46-69 Agent X (spin off, but important): #1-15 Cable & Deadpool (Pretty awesome): #1-50 Deadpool Vol. 3: Annual #1 Wolverine Origins: #20-25 Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth (super awesome short story, reading Marvel zombies 3 recommended first): #1-13 Deadpool Vol. 2 (skirts the line of "Memepool" a few times, but generally okay): #1-63 Deadpool Vol. 3 (Character redefining, very solid): #1-45
I just like it whenever Xavier talks about characters he’s followed for a while. He always comes across as knowing a lot about them. That Lizard vid is one of my favourites. Looking forward to a video on the recent part of the spider man run.
My favorite story is Gerry Duggan’s run because I just love the concept of it. I love the take on making him a “sad clown”, and stripping away everything he’s built for himself seems oddly poetic
Love this video template. I feel moon knight would be a great one to cover as there's so many different runs and reinventions that it can get a little overwhelming for newcomers to know where to start
So since Xavier kinda asked I ran the numbers, and counted all of the times he said Deadpool. The total number, considering all the times he said "deadpool", is 61, if you consider the time he said "memepool" the number goes to 62, and if you consider the times that ryan reynolds said "deadpool" the number goes to 63. So total number is 61.
these kind of videos of yours are some of my favorites, like the moon knight (how to make a tv show) and punisher (how how the show got him wrong) videos, just you spending a lot of time talking about the source material, with all the neat information and trivia, it's cool, so yea, i'd absolutely like to see more of these videos.
THANK YOU! I knew a bit of Deadpool's meta history, and the stuff you get from superhero encyclopedias, but I've never had the confidence to actually read the books, so thank you for giving me that.
I got into Deadpool back in middle school thanks to my best friend. It was around the Daniel Way run and we were also the kind of guys who wore those Hot Topic Deadpool T-shirts. I’m not the biggest fan of that run anymore but it still has some nostalgic value to me. Plus, the lead up to the Deadpool movie coming out was one of the most hype my friends and I ever got for a movie and it lived up to it. One of my favorite theater-going experiences I’ve ever had. Great video! Make more of these!
I just wanted to leave this here to thank people like you who helped me truly understand Deadpool thanks to these stories. My introduction to the character were trailers for the movie and memepool slop at my local Hot Topic, so my expectations weren't very high when trying to read up about the character. Joe Kelly's run has been surprisingly fun so far, and I hope more Deadpool stuff goes back to the sincerity that made him so appealing, rather than memes and one liners.
Seeing as you were the youtube channel that made me start reading comics It would be awesome to see you make more guides like this one. Comics are confusing as hell but you always make them appealing for some reason.
Please do more videos like this. It'd be nice to get some good reading recommendations for characters, especially characters on the obscure end that are now getting more mainstream attention like Moon Knight.
When I was a kid, I had a subscription to Deadpool. It ended around issue 20. And a while later, I looked up what was going on with Deadpool and found out it was ending! So I had my dad take me to the comic shop to get that final issue. I was completely blown away the manga style art. 11:49 And then, blast from the past, Agent X!
11:03 first deadpool comic I ever read! I remember seeing it in a bookstore when I was like 14 & it meant everything to me for like 2 weeks for some reason
Deadpool was said by Xavier 78 times Deadpool was said by Ryan Renolds 3 times Deadpool's nicknames like DP, Wade and Memepool were said three times by Xavier
Ngl, I think this is a really neat subgenre of videos you could focus on and if that is your intention I eagerly await whatever characters you focus on next. Keep up the awesome work.
Got into him around 2013 or 2014. I remember when I saw the test footage for the movie and was so hyped since I'd been loving the comics. Deadpool has so many great comic runs. I started with the marvel now era deadpool dead presidents and then the run where he has the evil clone. After that i read a bunch more marvel now and then got into the original deadpool run. I've loved every bit of ive read other runs but it's been a long time so i form remember the names and such

First got into the character way back when, actually when Marvel Ultimate Alliance was released. I started with Gail Simones run then Cable and Deadpool, id recommend those two runs plus Joe Kelly's run and Remender's Uncanny X-Force. I also thought the Deadpool vs Carnage was fun and Deadpool vs Punisher. Haven't really enjoyed much Deadpool besides those. Also just a shout out to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance, for a better Deadpool then the version we got in his own game. Also I love Agent X, kinda hate he ended up becoming an obese blob.
I watched this vid yesterday, But I'm gonna re-comment my comment. This video was awesome. Super informative and entertaining. Great for new readers. I hope you make more vids like this
I think it would be cool to see a video like this on Moon Knight. I just started reading his original run and would love to know what you consider to be essential reading for that character
The Daniel way run is the only comic run I have all of. The humor is actually funny while still having some impactful emotional moments. And like you said, his interactions with the greater marvel universe are interesting and fun. If the video got more popular he'd probably do more.

@@melon2271 it's a must when you open any social media to tons of discourse abt dp that would never see the light of day before
@@mushthephyllum882 yeah but you don't need to read comics to be allowed an opinion, saying you need to have authority to give your opinion is a crazy take
@@melon2271 where did i say you should read the comics to have an opinion ? i'm simply saying if you don't know enough abt a subject, don't go around spouting bs about it, is this not how everything works?
Another great video Xavier! Keep up the great work! ❤️
My First Deadpool that i read was the "Dead Presidents" Story arc from "marvel Now" era.I Knew enough about Wade/had seen the Movie that it was pretty good start for me..though So far it is the ONLY deadpool comic i`ve read.
Though to be honest I have ONLY read ONE Batman Story arc fully too(Hush).
This video needs more views, I want a series out of this
