    Could’ve chosen a live video for this one. Half the fun is watching you analyze their body language.
    And I agree with the gritty yell scream being more than a fry. Because I can do them both, but I can’t connect them with one breath. I do believe it uses the same technique, but just from different registers. I’ve heard some people call them power fry screams which kind of makes sense. It’s become my main scream I like to use because it feels the most natural when mixing singing with screaming.

  • @BigCheifRedEyez

    How did you get to the point of understanding all of this shit? I’ve just discovered your page and I love it. Being a vocalist trying to further my Craft, you’ve taught me a lot very quickly. @JasGoodgameJamzYuh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The gritty belt that you're referring to, that you feel is different to a fry scream or a regular belt, I believe is called glottal compression. Metallica and Pantera are two bands that popularized the technique, but its everywhere now and I'm sure you knew that. Anyway, great video, Mark!

  • @MightBeCale
    @MightBeCale 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Re: fry description. There's two main schools of thought that I can think of for a "fry" scream. There's what Ryan does here where in reality it's a lot more on the quiet end of volume, pretty low amount of force needed, and you can (clearly) go on for days. On the other hand there's what Spencer Sotelo does and what Chris Liepe is fantastic at teaching, where you're actually pretty loud because you're pushing through your vocal break. Really different methods, but always a dope as shit sound.

    • @Phlfwlr
      @Phlfwlr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you. Guys from Gideon and Wage War do the second technique. A lot of people seem to be more impressed with those kinds of screams because they always talk about how powerful they are. Corey Taylor and Ryo also do it. Personally I like it more because it’s more of a persons true screaming voice.

    • @MightBeCale
      @MightBeCale 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Phlfwlr Yeah, that's a lot of what Spencer talks about for doing it. It better portrays emotion and he uses his voice to like, tell a narrative.

    • @KardavoxAcademy
      @KardavoxAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely, and great way of describing the two. That relationship between volume and control on the two is a huge contrast, and both produce excellent results!

    • @angryktulhu
      @angryktulhu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What Chris liepe is teaching is yell screams. Thought they are close to fry screams, right. Yells are way louder, and require much more air to come through so no one would hold them for 20 seconds and more.

    The production of this recording really reminds me of Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven" album, esp the song 'Slaughtered'.
