Having done a fair amount of research into the treatment of dry eyes myself recently, I applaud this video. Doctor Eye Health clearly knows what he's talking about and he presents that info in a straightforward and easily understandable manner. His expertise really comes through in the minor details he presents. Thank you.
Another tip: Increase humidity - Dry air can aggravate dry eyes. Use a humidifier to increase the humidity in your home or workplace. You can also place a bowl of water on your desk to add moisture to the air.
Why are all the doctors on TH-cam so energetic, competent and smart . Also visually pleasing. The reality, at least in germany, ismost Eye docs are desinterested in their patients, don't give you much time to explain your issues. Average I got 2 mins...
I think you bring up a good point...I feel a lot of doctors are gravitating toward social media and in the entrepreneur space because of the stress, burn out, and disatisfaction in their careers. We went into school to help people.. but the system is built to make us treat the disease...not the person. You separate someone from social interaction and their mentality away from seeing the patient as a person...ugh...sorry loaded issue. But sorry you have had such poor experiences with your healthcare. Happy you found the channel!
yes and you can check at Whole Foods where you can buy all sorts of rice, different size grains or lighter versions can congregate differently in the sock. I would urge to buy organic as regular rice is known to contain arsenic. I bought the green rice, very small grain and some lightweight basmati which doesn't get as hot as quickly. I was gifted a shoulder pack of rice with lavender inside so it smells delightful even years later.
Thank you so much Doc for your Eye Health Education Program that helps people how to protect their eyes. The Lord bless your kind spirit in reaching out people through this mission.
I was really anxious about my myopia getting high, thought my contacts were dangerous ,my eyes were dry 🥺 but you really explain all these things very detailed and it sooths my worries.Thank you for the information 🙏💫
Drinking more water helps me a ton. Drink water as soon as you wake up to rehydrate, too! Sometimes we can go too long and put our contacts in right away and that always negatively impacted my eye dryness. I also have rheumatoid arthritis and I’m susceptible to dry mouth and skin in addition to dry eyes. I have a water bottle that I take to work and I drink about 60oz of water a day, which also helps with my joint point and stiffness.
I spray water into my eyes because I read that evaporative dry eye leaves you with hypertonic (extra salty) tears. It's very refreshing and works better than any eye drops I've tried. I use a fine mist sprayer, only use distilled water or water that's been boiled & cooled. I change the water in the bottle daily or more often. I also wash my face and eyelids 2x a day, and then massage moist lids with a drop of castor oil to express/prevent blockage in meibomian glands/ducts. I also sleep with an eye mask to keep lids closed and reduce evaporative drying. The mask also has heat feature, which I use for 30 minutes only. Lastly, I use fish oil supplements + Vit A + Vit E. My eyes are almost normal now!
Really happy to hear you are finding some relief! It is true that when your tears evaporate the salt in your tears remain...which means the salt content rises over time. This is something we measure in the clinic.
@@DoctorEyeHealth I am especially thankful I was able to concoct a regimen to bring some relief. My eyes were so bad that my eyeballs would stick to the eyelids during sleep. I would also get chalazion on my lids. Dry, gritty and irritated eyes that were so bad that my eyelids were tender to the touch! OUCH!!
Hey thanks Matthew! Yeah I have bad meibomian gland disease so I have to use the Bruder pack every night. Looks like you have a nice channel going yourself. I will have to check those out more. Do you have dry eye issues?

Just a comment on the idea of consulting with your physician: who among us has a doctor that cares enough to talk to you and knows enough - bothers to learn about natural healing - to have a sensible conversation with you.? As a Vietnam veteran I get treated with contempt and hostility and neglect at the VA and some of the doctors clearly have more important people to see and other places they would rather be than with me, asking them questions. I am sure that for many poor people who are not veterans the answers they get - as the doctor has already turned his back and is walking away - is just a sneer and a cheap shot about you being too ignorant to know anything about the condition that you are asking about. My point is you have to take responsiblity for your health as much as possible, do your research and make your own decisions about what is best for you. Thank you for the detailed advice, doctor.
Thank you so much for your dry eye series. I actually gave up contacts for last 18 months due to the dryness. I’m working with my eye doctor now on the right lens and I plan to be more patient this time, even if it takes months. I tried the dailes (your recommenced one) but still struggled with dry eye. However I didn’t try the other things: warm compress, omega 3, different eye drops... You have a great camera presence and really explain things.

I was searching videos for dry eye this morning. I have it pretty bad. Today my eyes were dry and coincidentally I just happened to drink a large glass of water and within 5 minutes my eyes were MUCH less dry. I thought, hmm, that's interesting. Then I started watching your video. The first thing you suggest is DRINK MORE WATER! Pretty funny. I'm going to keep checking this water (or lack of it) theory. I think you're (we're) on to something. Thanks for sharing!
Dr. Joseph, I use pretty much everything you listed on your videos for dry eyes but I’ve also included liquid MSM 💧 drops. I also gently used a liquid MSM drops on my eyelids and rub them very softly to remove any plugged oral glands in the upper or lower eyelids. The brand I use is by Dexterity Health MSM Drops. Thanks for your video!
What a darling doctor! Why couldn’t you be here in Athens, Greece where I need you desperately? My dry eyes are killing me and nothing seems to help. 😫
Go to the parmacy and ask for AUREOMYCINE it's very cheap about 1 dollar...and when you apply it in your eyes you will feel like there are stones in your eyes but you have to be patient...and after 1 hour you will forget if you had dry eyes i swear
The simplest method to avoid blocked oil ducts I've found is to scrub eyelashes with soapy water (with firmly closed lids). It also helps with demodex.
As someone without a microwave, I put hot water from the sink into a reusable ice bottle and if the bottle is too warm, a wash cloth layer helps there. It really sinks into the dips of your eyes but does require some balance and sitting still.
An eye cup, fill with distilled water and about 10 grains of fine salt, store in medicine cabinet after stirring, use as needed but change out every other day. Clean cup and dry thoroughly. I have been doing this for 20 years
Really ❤️❤️❤️ what you have shared with us!! I always share you videos to my friends to help them understand more about eye health!! Hope you also make a video that have list for non-theraputic medications/pills that helps better eye health!!
You're amazing! So kind of you to share your knowledge. Thank you!! - A little warning regarding EFA supplements. In photosensitive individuals they can accelerate the CNS to the point of hypomania (agitation; sleeplessness; shopping excess etc.). EFAs are an excellent first choice for prostaglandin inflammation and pain. Just careful if photo-sensitivity is known or suspected.
I would add to this list: eyelid massage after the warm compress. When the eyelids don't close or you don't blink enough, the oil glands atrophy. So I like to massage them and remind them of their connection. Also, a good humidifier that shows the percentage really helps. My eyes love it over 40. Moisture chamber glasses are fabulous too. I like the ones with sponges on the side that the doc here made a video about (eco eyes).
Hi Doc, thank you for all the great videos. After I use a hot compress for 10 minutes, I take a soft wet cloth, gently pull my lower eyelid down and gently rub with the cloth. I was told this helps keep the oil glands clean. Any thoughts on this ? Thanks
I use an eye heat pad as well , just started taking odourless fish oil one at night and lots of water. I also do the blinking when I remember . I also use preservative free lubricating drops 3 times a day and then Poly visc preservative free lubricating eye ointment before bed so I have relief while sleeping. My optometrist has been treating me for 18 months she says if things don't get better the next step is an eye specialist to have tear duct transplants.
Hey Deb. Thanks for watching. I know it wasn't mentioned in this video but diabetes does increase the likelihood of developing dry eye disease. Have you ever been diagnosed with dry eyes?
There is some evidence that it helps for dry eye - however there are reports of it's toxicity to the ocular surface as well. Basically, it helps reduce tear evaporation. It is also inside OTC Refresh drops.
Thanks for the video. I would like to know if there is any good quality omega-3 supplement that i can take which is free of animal product. I am vegetarian.
Same here... I finally said enough is enough and ordered some stuff. I got Ocusoft eyelid scrub and black currant seed oil. GLA is supposed to be anti-inflammatory which is the cause for a lot of peoples dry eyes. Hopefully that is the case for me.
Doctor can you comment on this? I am suffering at night as well. It’s absolutely awful. I do warm compress before bed and do natural eye drops but pain wakes me up too. I will drink more water for sure.
Thank you for your tips. I'm currently using Systane ulra lubricant eye drops and it works good, however there are days were my eyes seem dryer. I will try the eye compress. Thanks again. : )
bluegreen13 Hi systan ultra is good eye drop for dryness. But you can try eye compress and also wash your eyes with clean water regularly. Thanks You can also checkout my channel.
At night, I put Vaseline on my eyes. Not inside, but I’m sure some gets in. It’s very soothing. I have dry eyes and allergies, so I rub my itchy eyes and the Vaseline helps me not tug. Doctors may not advise Vaseline, but I can’t sleep without it.
Wear eyeglasses with a high base curve (6 or higher). This used to lead to poor visual performance but now with the "digital free-form" lenses, this is no longer an issue.
@@DoctorEyeHealth Only sometimes. The problem is that the lens technology has way exceeded the "optician measurement technology". Most opticians do mot make critical measurements (vertex distance, eye rotation point, base curve, pan tilt). Many frame manufacturers don't provide base curve either. Assuming they even know about base curve, they are forced to order frame, wait for it to arrive, measure base curve/tilt on patient before ordering the lenses. This is way too much trouble. So nominals get cranked into the calculation. For someone with a high IPD and (apparently) far-back rotation point, the progressive corridors end up getting set too far apart. With Shamir Autograph III, at 42", my field of view for each eye is 2" wide, and the 2 corridors are 5" apart. Prior lens was gotten from same optician, Rx was only 0.5D different, and corridors aligned. Prior to this, I used molded progressive (AO Truvision Omni) and had optician set it ad 62mm (My IPD is 67mm). I should not have to do that for digital progressive! I am now using Enchroma progressive, which works better then Autograph. This one was ordered through the web (no inputs other then RX, IPD, Seg height, I mailed in frame). Manufacturers need to provide equipment for opticians that make these complex measurements. Most opticians don't understand enough to even know about them! (Most of them are not old enough to even understand the "progressive problem" at all.) It is a pure crapshoot; sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. Shouldn't be for $600 lenses.
Please, try this first if you eye(s) feel dry: Take an ear cotton bud (which you clean your ears with normally). Make it wet in the sink. Press out the excessive water. Now rub the wet part over your lower eyelid. It works for me most of the time while having an dry eye. I saw this in another video. They explained we have multiple tear dots which can get clogged, and this is the way to open them. I am not sure this is true, but my experience is positive. Try this and only give me a thumbs up if this worked for you too, so more can be helped with this.
I'm going to try warm compresses and I have Refresh Optiv Advanced on the way, but if these don't work I think I'm at the end of my OTC remedies. My eyes are killing me!
Judy I had a bad Blepharoplasty so I know what you mean about eyes hurting now at age 58. I’m trying to heal my inner eyes now, doing lots of research!🙏🏻
Is there another brand of fish oil that is almost as good as the one you recommend at a lower price? Amazon prime is really pricy + on your Omega Fish oil. I do love your presentations they are fantastic plus being very informative. Jim
Woow! Thank you so much for this. I will certainly try them out. I have a question however, I have an Omega-3 supplement by Webber Naturals, is this okay? It has heart and mind written on it too, do you think I should get another instead?
Best information on the TH-cam. thx u r the best! I’d like share my eye care: Lately I’m on computer a lot, my eyes get very itchy & my eyes r old grease like sticky. I has been doing, rub both hands & when get warm, cup my eyes with warm hands. Long time ago I used lemon juice to clean eyes, feel great!
The supplement part reminded me of something else. Make sure you're not suffering from malabsorption of nutrients. Because in that case, your dry eyes might be only one of the indirect symptoms.
hi , i am 61 years old , my eye doctor recommended cataract for my right eye. but during tests he tried some lenses which i could see very good with it . asking why i can't just go with those lenses and do no surgery?
Great question. Surgery should always be YOUR decision. But many doctors often recommend cataract surgery earlier because if you wait too long the cataract can become more dense...and then it becomes more difficult to remove and increases the risk of complications during surgery and the healing period afterword.
Thank U For Sharing I Experience Dry Eye Every Day Also Excessive Eye Twitching..What Can I Do About The Eye Twitching. It Scares Me. And I'm Also Afraid Of Eye Drops
Yes, please do a video on eye twitching. My right eye has been twitching for years and nothing that I have tried has worked. I've been to opthalmologists and three different neurologists and the only thing they all recommend is Botox, which I ended up trying twice cuz I was desperate, but it actually made the problem worse because it weakened my eye muscles to the point that my right eye now looks smaller since it just doesn't open all the way like the left eye. I can't control it and it's very annoying. Also, the whole right side of my face started twitching (hemifacial spasm) once the Botox wore off. Hope you can help.

@@demigaines5644 I have tried te warm compress too but nothing works. I've also taken magnesium and potassium since I read that the twitching may be due to electrolyte imbalance, but that hasn't worked for me either. It has worked for other people though, so maybe it would work for you. I'm always doing research on this so hopefully I'll find something that helps.

You've helped me more than all of my doctors combined! Definitely an oil gland problem, thank you!

1 ) drink more water
2) blink more often
3) warm eye compress
4) omega 3 supplements
Yes and yes 👍🏻
Thanks
Thanks for your advise. I will practice blinking more often.
Incomplete blinker - a new category of people for whom we could create a support group. 🤣
LOL!!!~ XD 😂😂😂
Good info, (with disclaimers before and after your advice)despite the fact you are making a stream of income from most of the products you talk about.
Thank you for the great info. I'm a diabetic type 2 and need all the education I can get . Thanks again.
Hey Deb. Thanks for watching. I know it wasn't mentioned in this video but diabetes does increase the likelihood of developing dry eye disease. Have you ever been diagnosed with dry eyes?
Thanks for this video!! very informative Answered alot of questions I had thanks
Bro thanks I was afraid but not any more man thanks much love
love ya back, thanks for the comment pedro!
Thanks for this! I have dry eyes and will implement these strategies.
People say Caster oil cures dry eyes. What is your opinion doc?? Should we try this or not
There is some evidence that it helps for dry eye - however there are reports of it's toxicity to the ocular surface as well. Basically, it helps reduce tear evaporation. It is also inside OTC Refresh drops.
NO! There are many better ways to treat dry eyes.....
Agreed Jeffery
@@DoctorEyeHealth what about liquid msm?
Oh
Thanks for the video. I would like to know if there is any good quality omega-3 supplement that i can take which is free of animal product. I am vegetarian.
YES YES YES! Look into Algae based Omega 3s - I have a link to it in the video description!
Algal Oil (vegetarian); it's the algae that fish eat that makes the fatty acids that help with dry eye, so just eat the algae!!!
Navdeep Singh sea buckthorn oil capsules are great
Good video of good doctor.
The reason for my eyes are because I have no tears and I’ve had this for two years because nothing worked on I still have it now
Yeah I’ve got this too. I found that taking very long breaks from screens is the only remedy. This can take months.
My eyes mostly get dry while I'm asleep. Wakes me up at 2am, feels like my eyelids are stuck to my eyeballs and they burn.
So happy I found this channel! Thank you for the ideas :)
Thank you. What kind of eye heat mask would you recommend for anyone without a microwave?
I was wondering the same thing so I've put my eye mask on my hot water bottle and it's working 😆😂
Thanks

Hi how are you today?
At night, I put Vaseline on my eyes. Not inside, but I’m sure some gets in. It’s very soothing. I have dry eyes and allergies, so I rub my itchy eyes and the Vaseline helps me not tug. Doctors may not advise Vaseline, but I can’t sleep without it.
...try castor oil ...it works and makes your eyelashes grow .
Wear eyeglasses with a high base curve (6 or higher). This used to lead to poor visual performance but now with the "digital free-form" lenses, this is no longer an issue.
That is awesome to hear. Digital lenses rock.
Thank you Doc! I will up my H2O intake. I will use the compress too.
Thanks for watching! I hope things start to feel better. (I am trying to drink more water too)
Please use turmeric supplements! Helps with dry eyes and inflammation
I have read a lot about turmeric with inflammation! Good stuff
Dont put turmeric in eyes just eat the supplements
@ yes I make turmeric paste which is great for reducing inflammation
@@declanh2314 I have severe dry eyes and inflammation in one of my eyes. Please give me tips on how I help relieve these symptoms 😫.
Please, try this first if you eye(s) feel dry:
Take an ear cotton bud (which you clean your ears with normally).
No wonder your eyes sparkling Dr
Just bought the omega 3 from the amazon looking forward to fix my dry eye
blinking makes me see more clearly
Mangoes are very good for vision and dry eyes.
Yummy
some things don't apply in Canada, medicare doesn't charge inividuals for eye exams or tests
Which is amazing! Ideally...i think we should strive for a world where medicine is free to all.
Thanks you sir

Very informative video with regard to dry eye disease.
I was troubled by dry eyes for almost 30 years. The tip#3 and #4 help ease my pain very much.
Hey thanks for sharing!!! Glad to hear things helped!
Is there another brand of fish oil that is almost as good as the one you recommend at a lower price? Amazon prime is really pricy + on your Omega Fish oil. I do love your presentations they are fantastic plus being very informative. Jim
Hey thanks Jim! Lately I have been Liking EyePromise EZ Tears, they have 30 day money back garuntee too.

Can you do a video on Carateconus?
Woow! Thank you so much for this. I will certainly try them out. I have a question however, I have an Omega-3 supplement by Webber Naturals, is this okay? It has heart and mind written on it too, do you think I should get another instead?
Best information on the TH-cam. thx u r the best!
I’d like share my eye care:
Lately I’m on computer a lot, my eyes get very itchy & my eyes r old grease like sticky.
Absolutely. I had a patient recently talking about her issues with malabsorption
Great video!!
hi , i am 61 years old , my eye doctor recommended cataract for my right eye. but during tests he tried some lenses which i could see very good with it . asking why i can't just go with those lenses and do no surgery?
Great question. Surgery should always be YOUR decision. But many doctors often recommend cataract surgery earlier because if you wait too long the cataract can become more dense...and then it becomes more difficult to remove and increases the risk of complications during surgery and the healing period afterword.
You have the perfect face for a great caricature drawing. Have you ever had one done?

Thank You.
Delizious25 I. so Very Sorry
My Right Twitches AlMost Every Day My Right Eye
It Scary’s Me.I Usually Put A Warm Compress On It
Good Luck Hope You Can Find Relief.
Doc, can one substitute Krill Oil instead of Fish oil? If yes, pls suggest a brand. Does Krill oil have to be in Triglyceride format? I don't see that format in any of the name brands!
Thank you for your great info
Happy to help!
This is my second time around having this .. I didn’t even know what it was but I knew it sucked .. last time my eye got swollen n couldn’t open it for a day... I seem to hv this after a terrible cold not sure if there is a connection...this time I used a warm compress n blinking continuously it worked thanks you ...
Thanks for letting me know Trudy! I hope it never comes back.
Hello Doctor, my doctor recommended Tear nature and polidemisin to cure dry eye. In fact, I do have eye floaters as well. I fear taking polidemisin (Benzalkonium chloride as preservative) and i decided not to take it without consulting my doctor. So, is it harmless or ineffective to use only Tear drops ?
Another helpful video, thanks. 🇬🇧
