  • Looking for a natural solution for dry eyes or eye problems like eye bags, eye floaters, or cataracts? Discover how castor oil can improve your eye health! In this video, we'll discuss the benefits and safety of using castor oil for your eyes and what the science reveals about this natural remedy that has many benefits for your eyes and face. Watch to learn more!
Castor oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis). It contains a high concentration of ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. When applied topically around the eyes, castor oil can help moisturize delicate skin, may reduce eyelid margin puffiness, and also could decrease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Additionally, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, castor oil may alleviate redness and irritation associated with various eye conditions like dry eyes, and blepharitis. However, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before using castor oil for any eye-related issues to ensure safety and effectiveness.
There are concerns about castor oil sterility as well as shelf life reported in the research. While it may be safe to apply directly to the skin and is USA FDA-approved as a stimulant laxative, current research is less clear about its safety when it is directly applied to the ocular surface.

I caught a hawk on my hen 2 weeks ago, pecking at her eye. She survived, thanfully, however he shreded her cornea, and I'm convinced he even dug into the lens. After the panic subsided I decided castor oil would be worth trying and put one drop in her eye. Next day it was cloudy and still torn. The day after that I put another drop into her eye, and on her lids since it appeared he had stretched them out a bit. Within a week, after two doses of castor oil, her eye looks completely healed. She's totally unphased, and grateful!

I had to demand a hormone test as well as a vitamin panel, finding I was depleted which was causing all kinds of physical symptoms all the while he kept telling me I was fine!! It’s just a rabbit hole they don’t want to go down, it’s too time consuming, so they ignore anything about vitamins, hormones, lymphatic system, etc, the regular answer is just take a multi vitamin you’ll be fine, or they prescribe a pharmaceutical for a symptom, which they are financially rewarded for doing by the Pharmaceutical companies!

I used castor oil on my aged dogs eyes years ago. They were getting that graying glaze over them. He'd fight me at first, but seemed to realize soon after that it was helping him because he started assuming the position to get the drops not long after. I never got that surrender from him with trimming his nails in all 8 years he was alive. His eyes went from that of an old dog looking like he was starting to go blind, to the young pup I remembered him to be. No film, no glowing graying. They were clear and green (his normal color) again and showed zero signs of aging.

Even i can use my contact lenses multiple times without contamination. Went back to my ophthalmologist last month and my eye pressure was 16 without prescription drops! Didn't tell him about my "study" . He ordered me back in 6 months for regular check up and test. But surprisingly he asked me if I still want to get the prescription for my Travoprost. It is funny how they don't consider the experience of decades, sometimes centuries, of human experience and experiments, to a be a study. It is. It is a massive, unintended epidemiology study. For example, how did they come up with Gravol? By testing very substance on Earth, or by finding out what people ALREADY KNEW would prevent nausea (ginger) and figuring out how it worked on a molecular level.

My spouse and I both were diagnosed with cataracts and last year the eye doctor said his were ready to come out. We started using castor oil for eyes. This year he was told his cataracts were much reduced and mine were, for the first time in years, never mentioned. A few days after using the oil, I noticed colors seemed a little brighter. Also, my vision itself is much improved. I was told years ago when I asked what my vision was, the doctor said, “Legally blind is 20/400 and you’re way beyond that.” While I am prescribed contacts, there are days I forget to use them because I can see so clearly. That usually changes by the end of the day, but it’s still a huge difference! Also, my prescription for contacts has decreased over years. Maybe the intake of blueberries and blueberry wine helped.

Ok, well here's my deal. Had a bad fall, fractured my nose and both eye sockets TBI. Stitches in left eyebrow. Happy to NOT have been blinded, I didn't get too cranky I didn't have eyebrow or lashes on the left. I'm 65, so figured I'm ok and not so bad to go in public. So, my auntie shared our Granny's castor and olive remedy for hair, browns and lashes. Also, castor pack for pain and injury. 6 months later, using just at bedtime, eyebrow and lashes are back. Also, noticed about a month or so ago, I am not seeing so many bugs flying around.. Had a lot of floaters..I have a significant astigmatism and myopia. Had it since they found I needed glasses at age 8. I just received report from my eye doctor that I had a slight improvement. Course hubby said it was probably just an accidental "front end alignment". Eye bags and wrinkles are better too. So, I think it worked for me.

Well it isn't a placebo effect regarding floaters. I just recently had an eye exam because I had really bad increased floaters, with flashes of light in my right eye. I had it for months didn't know it was a bad thing other than annoying until it got so bad I could hardly see. (Which escalated rather quickly) I saw optometrist and they looked forever into my dialated eyes and gave the all clear but said I needed to be seen again in a month. I heard about castor oil helping dry eyes so I tried it. (Unrelated to the floaters) It helped immediately. I was thrilled. A few weeks later of nightly application to my eyelids I realized my floaters were GONE. Not just better. Not just like they've been a few here and there for 35 years. No...entirely GONE. Saw optometrist he said good job treating your eyes they're perfect! I said I didn't do anything you said. He said oook.... I feel a but coming 😂 so I told him. I just had my vision check up few weeks ago (I did not mention castor oil yet), with the exams and all sorts ~ she looked at my previous files and current to compare. She said that there's improvements, basically great results. I do not have to wear glasses or contacts unless really needed. I then told her that I've been using castor oil, she lost it and said that I should not be using it in the eyes, I corrected her ~ eyelids. She then said that it can damage your eyes and should stop doing that. I told her that I'm confused as she gave me great news for improvement, she shook her head and said no. I told her that I would be happy to go to a different eye clinic if she'd like me too, she stopped talking. I've been with them for seven years and it's insane 🤷‍♀

I am 70 and I have no cataracts or any problem with my eyes. I buy a small brown sterile bottle with a glass dropper from a herbal department. This small bottle I fill and keep by my bed. I've been dealing with bilateral dry eye and unilateral blepharitis for about 2 years. Was prescribed Restasis, told to use rewetting drops frequently, use a warm compress and eyelid wipes. Restasis was very helpful, but I started having episodes of dry eye again with pretty significant pain/foreign object sensation. This is when I started using a drop of organic filtered castor oil on both eyelid margins under an eyemask to sleep each night. After about 4 months of doing that my eyelid with blepharitis is much less swollen than it was before and I have been able to completely stop using Restasis, eyelid wipes and re-wetting drops through the day. Almost no episodes of pain due to dryness anymore. For me, the results have been amazing.

I am 50 and a master aesthetician of 31 years. I use castor oil as a nightly moisturizer and anti aging preventative. I also DO use it on my eye lids! I can't speak to the bags as I have never had that problem but I recommend it to all of my clients for YES lash growth and brow growth as it helps oxygenate the skin and helps with TEWL. It also locks in moisture. I have also done castor packs for other health benefits. It's known as natures natural botox. I don't get botox! My profile photo is less than a year old. I don't look my age and that is due to regular facials, good products with AHA's and castor oil! I love natural treatments used in conjunction with dermatology grade products. I also have a derm background ;-) great video! I learned a few things I didn't already know about castor oil. I know it's been used even in biblical times and Egyptian. Cleopatra used it for medicinal as well as beauty purposes.

It 100% helped grow back my eyelashes after they were practically destroyed from eyelash extensions. I actually grew two layers of lashes on my top lid so they looked thicker than my lashes were pre-extensions. I've been putting it all over my body daily (it's a chore) but some things it helped where: completely healed the daily pain I had in my neck from nerve inflammation and arthritis. I was getting headaches daily from the neck pain for about a year, nothing my physical therapist did or my doctor prescribed helped relieve the pain. Since using castor oil the headaches and pain are gone. I no longer have to take ibuprofen the minute I wake up each morning. I pour a little in my belly button each night or rub it all over my stomach and it has helped relieve my constipation too. It is a natural anti-inflammatory. I could go on and on, but just wanted to say it has been very beneficial for me. :)

Your response makes no sense. He acknowledges that castor oil is useful for dry eyes.
As for floaters, and such, he went to the research, so his response is FOUNDED in facts and peripheral established understanding of physiology. Using something in specific ways, or for specific conditions, that haven't been researched as such and claiming it's beneficial is anecdotal and UNFOUNDED. Note: he's not saying it's ineffective, he's only saying there's nothing in the research or his understanding of physiology that would support its effectiveness. That's NOT the same as saying it's ineffective. You're shooting at shadows. And you don't know how to use words, because ... "generalize its effects" makes no sense in the context of either your comment or the video.

I have Reiters Syndrome with iritis diagnosed 45 years ago. Had lots of floaters. Never had dry eyes. Used of COLD PRESSED, HEXANE FREE ORGANIC CASTOR OIL PACKAGED IN A DARK GLASS BOTTLE eliminated my floaters.
I also had mild cataracts by 67. At my last visit the opthalmologist noted my cataracts are reduced by over 50% and asked what I was using.
Castor oil removed the bags below my eyes and increased eyebrow and eyelash hair.
It must be Cold Pressed and in dark GLASS bottles because Heat and light break down key benefits of Castor Oil. Keep it in a cabinet or on a dark closet shelf.

For 2 years I suffer from severe dry eye -- treated by a specialist with different Rx's and procedures. 6 months ago I resorted to trying caster oil kind of as a last resort and OMG it's a life changer. Immediate incredible relief. I don't drop it directly in my eye, but around the lashes and on lids so some of it does get into the eye. But the instant relief is incredible.

Yeah the eye doc I go to wants me to go on eyedrops which will make me spend upwards of $60 a month. I don’t think I will continue as I think a big part of my dry eye comes from blood pressure medicine and having worn contacts for over 2 decades. Also, I’ve been rather bad with my contacts and using drops while they were in and I shouldn’t have. So using high quality fish oil and eating healthier I’ve noticed some change but I recently got my hands on a bottle of the sky organics castor oil from Walmart for $15 and used it on the lids (edit: autocorrect kids? 😂) the lashes I feel much better and my eyes feel more moisturized (not directly in the eyes though). I had a real eye-pain for several weeks. When I went to the doctor at least 3 times with this, he repeatedly said, that is only caused by dry eyes, so he immidiately subscrided me different and not cheap drops. But they didn´t help me. I started to worry about it, than normally I help myself with euphrasia drops, but nothing helped. Than I came to some videos, where they suggested to put castor oil on the eyelid to penetrate into the skin. So I bougt a bottle of coldpressed castor oil in the pharmacy and gave it a try. Already the next morning was my pain blowing away and it still remained. Whenever I experiencing dry eyes again, I put some castor oil on my eyelids before bed and it works perfect!!! Therefor I am very greatfull and giving this tip further to my friends.
